Walking Carpets

By WAC47, in X-Wing

4x Kashyyyk Defenders with Wookiee Commandos.

That's 36(!) hit points with the reinforce action and 12 red dice with rerolls.

It's going to depend a lot on the dial, but what do people think?

Well the firing arc will help if the dial sucks.

I think this might be a great candidate for a fortress list. Somebody talk me down from the ledge. This sounds bad...

Hard to reinforce without actions. Without reinforce they're not that scary defensively and without focus they're not that scary offensively. The commandos help offense somewhat but still not terrifying offensively.

Don't care so much if I don't go down (:

I don't know how this list will do, but I really like the "Walking Carpets" name.

I heard someone mention somewhere that this was the fix for the B-Wing, and I think they're right. I don't know how good fortressing will be, but with four of these guys coming your way, with Reinforce, and a soft TL? And a 180 arc? Jousting is back in style. You lose the Z-95, but it essentially got eaten up by the other ships and divided up between them, with each gaining a HP, and a soft TL (over the B-Wings focus). This will definitely edge out the BBBBZ squad once it come out, and as long as it has a white turn (it will) that 180 arc covers ALOT of ground with those turns. This could be the next scary build for the rebels.

Dial is going to be so important. Darnit, I don't want to buy four of these and Dammit, I would rather fly B-wings!

THIS! This all day and twice on Sunday's.

*Standing* carpets

Honestly having them walk around the board and reinforce every turn is potentially scarier.

Reinforce still is only one side. And it's an action, so you can't bump all of them. It's real good in an out an out joust, but depending on how these things turn around, turreted ships and repositioning flankers can probably still eat them up. But it'll win a heck of a lot of jousts.

firing arc alone will make it easy to get shots with. People underestimate how much that helps against the YV666, that thing has a habit of somehow still getting shots on people that try to dodge him but didnt fly clean past. If it has a turn at all it will likely have a shot, and it looks reasonably nimble and sleek so i'd be shocked to see ARC level of immobile with a surprise kturn.

What do you expect from a card whose cost is almost exclusively its opportunity cost?

A pair of Lothal Rebels with Collision Detectors, Autoblaster Turrets, and Wookie Commandos, leave 24 points for a PS1 Wookiee Gunship with Chopper or a Gold Squad with TLT. Have the Lothal Rebels use their action to evade each round and that's a lot of beef to cut through.

Not much but I was giving the quoted post a reason why fortressing these things isn't the most terrifying.

i am glad they worded it where the position is determined by the defender's firing arc and not some other bs way to let them fire at your aft section while somehow still being in their front firing arc.

If it can hit you, you hit its face. If it cant hit you, you hit its butt. Simple.

How in the world would a fix for the b-wing be a ship that is not a b wing?

The ultimate fur ball is coming.

Guys, it clearly should be called Flying Carpets.

Have you been licking yourself again Fuzzy?

I for one am not amused by the Reinforce action at all, consisting the base platform. It looks like a delayed Swarm counter, with little impact on the meta filled 4+ fully modded reds.

The cost, 1 native agility, lack off TL or repositioning are not helping either. You're probably better off going for U-wings, which are in this weird place of being quite meaningless B-wing offspring anyway.

Looks like the saving grace here, might be the combination of 180 degree arc with Tactician and/or Jyn.

I also have high hopes for one of the pilots or upgrades enabling either stacking 2 Reinforce tokens, or passing one onto another ship, as implied by the picture with 2 copies of the token. Kinda shame the latter would most likely be just Biggs-hate fuel...

Laugh it up Fuzzball.

Thinking out side the "Lets spam this ship!" theory, the Gunship can focus/reinforce with PtL. It can also take Lando crew and experimental interface for a potential focus/evade/reinforce combo.

A gunship with PtL, Rey crew and Targeting Computer could slow roll at the start and when engaging, focus/target lock/reinforce.

Add in Roark with TLT and Jan Ors and your Gunship could end up with Target Lock/Evade/Reinforce.

U wing with Jan and Jyn could also hand out a focus/evade token to a Gunship, which leaves it free to reinforce or PtL for a target lock as well.

All that being said, I think a single PS7 gunship with VI, Rey Crew and Vectored Thrusters could be quite nice.

Any suggestion of self stress will be hugely dial dependent. I doubt this will have a decent dial...
