Wave 6 announced now lets speculate about it!

By xero989, in Star Wars: Armada

So with wave 6 announced it is time to start speculating, because I have nothing better to do than be excited about a new wave of armada. as an imperial player that is not huge into heavy squadron play it was a bit of a let down, but I'm excited to see carrier that can support a dedicated fighter screen, and it is cool to see an admiral that can make a dedicated anti-fighter squadron like the tie interceptor into a significant threat to ships. So lets star with the Quasar class expatiation first.

So lets just start with cost what will this ship cost? Well looking at hull, shied, command, engineering, and squadron values, plus its battery armament its going to be a ship in between the Gladiator and the Victory. I would put the cheaper of the two at about 59ish points and the more expensive variation around 67ish points. I really cant see it costing more than a Victory this is why if I was venturing a guess this is were I would place it point wise. Also on a side note if this ship dose cost what I think its going to cost it might be the nail in the coffin for the Victory class as we now have a more cost effective carrier, also flight Controllers found a new favorite ship.

Lets talk about the upgrades that come in this expatiation.

First the titles sadly we cant read anything on the card so its pure speculation, but as there are 3 of them I'm thinking something around the lines of an imperial Galent Haven, a title that give you more squadron value, and a title that has something to do with anti-fighter fire power. Someone ran the idea by me that one of the titles could be a title that can be placed on the ship that allows the rebels to use the ship, although thematic, I'm not going bet on it.

Quad 277 battery/Quad Battery Turrets- assuming they are the same upgrade, because they have the same art come in both expansions, we cant really make out much of what is on the card other than it cost 5 points and is probably an offensive retrofit all I can make out is the word die on the top row, so something adding a die to your flack so some sort of die manipulation with your flack?

Dispos...something- the text looks like this card is restricted to small and medium ships and reads: when you.. may d.... your die.... your.... may... the card text for me is very burly even with enhancement, but we do know its another Offensive retrofit and looks to be some kind of die modification probably against fighters maybe something like when you overlap fighters you may discard this card to perform an attack with the dice in your anti-fighter armament?

Boarding troopers was fully spoiled- when you reveal a command you may discard a squadron dial or token and this cad to choose 1 enemy ship at close range choose and spend a number of its defense tokens up to your squadron value.

The next upgrade is The Grand Inquisitor just calling it now he reads_ when an.. distance... spend you... this card... dec... I'm guessing it reads something like this when an enemy ship at distance 1-3 of you spends a command token you may exhaust this card to have them discard that token instead? The spend might be speed like I said very blurry, but spend seams to fit better just my speculation.

Lastly for the Quasar class expansion is Admiral Sloan she was fully spoiled, but there is some conflict with weather her ability effects friendly squadrons with swarm and cost 26 points or friendly squadrons without rouge and cost 24 points, my money is on the one that effects squadrons without rouge. And that reads- While a Friendly Squadron without rouge is attacking it may spend 1 die with and accuracy icon to choose and spend 1 of the defender's defense tokens. While attacking a ship, it may also re-roll 1 die with a crit icon.

Whew, that is all for the Quasar class expansion lets move on to the hammerhead Corvettes expansion.

Lets again start with the cost of these little guys with a front battery armament the same of a CR-90 but less dice out the side and no dice out the rear, and defense tokens of redirect evade contain, possibly having more hull they will cost very close of the CR-90 they can probably only go speed 3 as indicated by the dial, but with less over all shields I'm not sure if one extra hull point will make a huge difference. So with the info we have right now I would put the cheaper one at 35ish points and the more pricey at 40ish though I'm not nearly as firm on these numbers as I am on the Quasars I need more info on the ship, for a solid estimation.

Now lets talk about the upgrades in this expiation, for whatever reason I found the cards even more blurry in this photo, but we are just speculating so lets get to it.

First thing of note is that there are two titles are not unique. The first is Task Force.... I? It reads while.. …...... copy.. the rest is to blurry for me. something to note is that two models come in this expiation so I'm speculating that it reads something like this while you are at X distance of another ship with a copy of the Task Force I title gain X benefit. The other title is task force but has a different art so I'm guess Task Force two with a similar effect. The other title was fully spoiled Garel's honor it reads- when you overlap an enemy ship, the enemy suffers a face up damage card instead of a face down damage card.

The next upgrade was fully spoiled as well External Racks- While attacking at close range, you may discard this card to ad 2 black dice to your attack pool.

Quad Battery Turrets- they were discussed in the Quasar expansion segment.

Boarding Engineers was fully spoiled- When you reveal a command, you may discard a squadron dial or token and this card to choose 1 enemy ship at close range. Look at its face down damage cards and flip a number of them face up up to your engineering value (one at a time).

The next card is unique as well and appears to be a board party card name is Cham and reads when.. command discard an...enemy... at your.. c... again for some reason this was much more blurry than the Quasar photo, but assuming it works very much like the other boarding parties, as far as his ability I'm not quite sure if we where going thematic he did steal an imperial ship in rebels, but that's just very unbalanced maybe performing an attack from the boarded ship, I'm really not to sure on this one as it is unique I'm sure his ability is powerful but all thematic ability I can think of are rather unbalanced so we will just have to wait and see.

Next card is a unique as well called Hono... and reads at the start.. you may... choose 2... 2... opponents.... on 2. this card seams very strange to me if I had to speculate as to what the card did it would read something like this at the start of the ship phase you may choose 2 friendly ships to gain a command token then you may choose two of your opponents ships to lose a command token, but I really don't know on this one your guess is better than mine.

Lastly we have the Admiral Lea Organa the rebellions most expensive Admiral she reads when a friendly ship resolve a command by spending a command dial, if it has not yet resolved another command this round, it may resolve that command as if it spent a matching command token if it does, that ship may not resolve another command this round.

Well that's everything for wave 6 I can honestly say that I'm more excited for the upgrades than I am for the ships and that is odd to say, but I am. Let me know what you think what I got right what I got wrong what you think of the wave etc. Just pleas do be nice this is just speculation, and the photos where quite blurry so I do apologize if I got some of the information wrong cant wait for wave 6, thought I would like to see and FAQ...

People will be complaining about boarding more than squadrons :P

Actually probably not. I think while the boarding actions are welcome mechanics I don't see them making a big impact. Might be like early squadrons where they were not used at all and squadron-less was not only a good option but won nationals. So the question is what other boarding options cough* stormtroopers cough * could bring to the game.
