Why not all 3? An ion for SW-7s, two offensives for DC and something else (EHB? Decent Squad value?) and defensive for ECM/RBD.

Maybe FFG should do what they did all the raider and just design a new 'dreadnought' class for the imperial faction. It would solve the SSD issue for starters. The rebels already have a lot of bigger ships from the EU stuff to draw from, Dauntless, MC 80B, MC 90 etc.
The Venator and MC75 are virtually the same size, however I would still put the Venator on a large base, as it was a purpose built warship, and the MC75 on a medium because it was most likely a converted cruise liner. (Don't know if that part is Canon anymore, but I like it.)
The added benefit of my point of view, is that it also fills a need of the game. Imps need another large base, and the Rebels need a second medium.
The Profundity actually start off life as a governance tower on Mon Calamari.
Talking of, I'd like to see Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building etc taking part in space battles.
