You love Armada, we love making Armada videos - come check us out!

By Captain Weather, in Star Wars: Armada

Super close battle report this time on Master of the Fleet.

It's been really nice to get a string of content going out in a short period so hopefully that will continue.

Anyway here's the link to the latest video -

Hope you all enjoy! As always any comments or feedback, even if it's just a 'this sucked' or 'this was awesome' really help.

Cheers guys!

Intel Officer Luke

So we got some feedback about needing to show more deployment information. Its one of the most important aspects of the game but also the least engaging to watch.

So one solution we tried out in this video was to simply speed it up 10x.

Let us know if this works out, or if it should be slower/faster!

I really like what you are doing. Yours are the best batrep videos I have encountered (there are not too many around, are there?) and the only ones I watch regularly. Keep them coming, please!

We're trying to be a little more regular (it can just be a little hard sometimes with real life). Really glad you think so highly of us!

Hahahahahahaha we might have to do this at least once.

There are others from WPPDSteve, Crabbok, Sterling Knight and MWG who have their different styles.

Bahaha, alright consider it done in the next one

These are fantastic - keep up the great work?

so... where did you get the plastic stands for the admirals? Very cool stuff - tourney swag?

i do believe those are from the star wars board game "rebellion " sadly not all admirals are there in it, damage tokens used are also from that box

Extremely good game... Captain weather's opponent putting hyperspace assault to good use! OP making a good decision to trash the un-escorted shuttles! 1 point so close... I think neither player would mind that result in a tourney...

I think a mistake was made at 29:00... Second payer engine techs his demo away from insidious leaving insidious only threatened by arquitens... I think he could have left it there and reinforced the point that either you take my raider and I take insidious(great trade for second player), or you shoot with insidious and my raider flechettes your squads... Little stuff you likely only catch on video. But hey that's why o watch you guys, I learn something ever time!!

Thanks for the vids!

Depends if you were trying to win the tournament or not!

I think I would be feeling very, very lucky though. I had no right to pull off even a 1pt win - I made a bunch of bone head moves. Namely taking Hyperspace Assault!

In Dan's defence, I actually think he made the right choice. Insidious only had 2 hull remaining, no shields, no redirect, and was at close range of the Arq.

I know at the time I was feeling exactly what you were describing. I knew the trade was going to be the raider and my squads active for Insidious. At that range (and because of his TRCs) I needed him to roll blanks all round for Insidious to live as he had guaranteed 2 damage from TRCs.

Keeping Demo closer wouldn't help that at all, and would leave my Demo further away.

If you want to get into moves that should have been different - I have a bunch.

I should have been more aggressive with Insidious. Failing that I should have gone to the far side of Demo (or moved my Goz to allow me to be in the near side) with Insidious so that if he wanted to double tap he would have had to commit Demo fully to that side. I should have braced the Arq's shot on my Goz. I should have kept Saber in range of Relay. I should have Inteled Soontir.

So many things!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one humming the Benny Hill theme when I watched that part.

Great BatRep though. This game solidified me play testing glads again.

I see what your saying but with the arq in close range to the glad but I wanted to keep pressure on his demo, Ether he kills the radar or I stop his squads from activating and fly away.

also with my demo being a little closer I could also double ram with engine tech + try and get apt that could possibly kill him

Interesting to hear your perspective! I thought insidious had 3 hull left and a brace, I may be mistaken, I was watching about 5 tall boy Sapporo in ;)

Again, great batrep, you guys are the best at this... How long did that match take to play having to do batrep?

What might have been a better objective to pick OP? I felt like they were all fairly terrible for you

So I went back and had a look it did still have 3 hull left (though I knew it had brace still). I feel Dan still made the right move, especially if he knew he had a Concentrate Fire coming up - plus he could have just used Jerry to ram me with the Arq if it came down to that!

So I believe we started playing about 6:30ish(?) maybe a bit a later as Ken was running late, and we finished

the game itself no later than 9pm. It used to take us ages to film, but Ken has it down to basically normal game speed these days.

They were all fairly bad (which is good, that's what a good fleet should do to you), however in hindsight Hyperspace Assault was the worst one I could have picked.

Hyperspace Assault really negated a large advantage of being first player by allowing Dan to drop in his Demo into a threatening position and just wait me out with our equal activations.

Most Wanted would have definitely gone on my Demo, and it would have been a game of doing damage with it but keeping it alive.

Superior Positions would have required me to deploy somewhat defensively, and be more mindful of my squads, but overall wouldn't have been that big a deal (our squads just kind of duked it out the whole time anyway).

The key part for the other two over Hyperspace is that it means that my battle lines wouldn't be disrupted by an unseen ship coming in well after deployment. This would have been huge as I could have dictated the flow of the game a lot more, especially with my Demo and first activation. As it was by Turn 3 I was basically in point protection.

Why must this be posted when I don't have time for it until Sunday!!!

Pumped to watch the BR, thanks guys!

Ya now that I think about that needa pretty much had insidious dead to rights...

I wonder then if activating insidious first the following turn instead of demo would have yielded any advantage?

I thought about it. Not super, super hard mind you, but I did think about it. Basically if I didn't go first with Demo the Raider flaks my squads which would have damaged and toggled enough to lose me the squadron war (which would be about a swing of 80+ pts easy from my extra losses and some of Dan's staying alive) plus I then have to chase down the Raider - which with Jerry is not easy to do at all.

So I potentially lose out on killing the raider and I probably don't end up killing Jerry as a result as I now have to send Demo after the Raider, also my squads are now probably going to die, and less of Dan's will go down. The trade off would be that I'd kill the Arq, and probably not lose Insidious (which is a 139 pt swing). I think they both end up roughly the same-ish points wise off the top of my head, but I would say my gut instinct would be that the call I went with ended up being the most point effective.

Good discussion going on here, thanks for the breakdown... Also isn't it late in Australia right now?

Super early - about 6am. I just wasn't sleeping great, and fortunately I don't have work today, so I decided to jump on the old internet until I settled a little.

Thank you - that makes sense. Love these videos. I've watched them all. Kudos to the cameraman!!

Cheers!

I try my best to get the right angles where possible!
