Wave 6!

Anyone else considering painting their Quasar Fire like a pizza slice, or is it just me?

...maybe I just need to go make dinner

Not four variants, 2 sets of two, one set for each ship model, as there are two ships in a pack, which are treated as separate entities. That's why the defense tokens, ship ID tokens, command dials, and speed dials are all doubled as well.

Good point, agreed.

Or 2 Raiders with Boarding Troopers and passing a squad token to them and targetting the Brace twice before the ISD follows up.

I think the Raider is a great shout for the Boarding engineers. Two face downs flipped up, for 2 points. I'd put it on a raider 2 with overload pulse, just to pair with Avenger. Turn up the cards, exhaust the tokens, get the hell out of there.

Fair point. And the upgrades in that pack are kinda cool. Bunch of uniques, but...one sure will want external racks in multiples...

Looking at the pic closer, though - I mean, we always focus on the spread, but in that Hammerhead pack...

...am I crazy, or is that a HUGE pile of upgrade cards face-down in the lower left of the image?

Is it possible FFG has anticipated our demand, and are putting out multiples for all the non-unique upgrades in the same kit? Either that, or there are a LOT of unannounced cards in this one...

Yes you can

Okay Boarding upgrade good, But Why No Stormtroopers?

Possibly an undisclosed upgrade? There's at least one double slot card not shown on the Hammerhead image.

Could it be that they doubled the upgrades, just like they doubled the ship cards, dials, and tokens?

No military version....

Please no stormtroopers for rebels.

Good point! 4 uniques and 5x2 normal upgrades. Man I really hope that's true.

Non-Rogue Sloane works for essentially every Imperial mainline squadron sans Decimators and 3/4 of the R&V contingent, whereas with-Swarm Sloane is TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, Jumpmaster 5000, and that's it. Neither version buffs TIE Bombers, and rerolling crits only helps anything with blue anti-ship and without Bomber (again, Fighters, Interceptors, Jumpmasters, etc.) I have a sneaking suspicion non-Rogue Sloane is correct, since Swarm Sloane seems hellishly niche, but that might just be wishful thinking. It will be interesting to see what a Sq4 ship does to the primacy of Imperial s as the Empire's go-to supercarrier, especially since QF's still get WT and OR (and red anti-squad on one version). I do expect a new wave of Avenger s, with Boarding Troopers and Phylon Q-7s in that other OR. Only officer pickup appears to be (unique, obviously) the Grand Inquisitor, who I expect will boost the new boarding shenanigans. We're short two upgrades, counting the third title here.

Had I been handed Leia without the boarding parties, I'd have said she was ten (maybe eight) points overcosted. WITH boarding parties, she's probably still slightly so, but it's a bigger buff to the Rebels since they tend to have more ships to throw around. I also note not one but two of the Hammerhead titles say Task Force ----- and are non-unique. I imagine they're a more limited form of the Pelta shenanigans, probably without the token requirements, but time will tell. Rebels also pick up Cham Syndulla and Hondo as officers, of whom I expect one to ape Tua as a WT offering, expanding (slightly) the number of Rebel ships than can use the capability. We're also still short five cards here from the spread (not counting more duplicates of the Task Force card).

I'm guessing it'd just be the image, not that the card would read "storm troopers". Maybe a generic "Boarding Party"?

At a Price Point of 24 points, and the ability to make Ships discard defense tokens?

Swarm Sloane has my Vote.

Otherwise she should be more than Tarkin.

Defense Tokens are the Economy with which one buys Victory .......... And she takes them away from the enemy in handfuls.

One more check says that if the tokens laid out are correct, the Hammerheads are squishy AF. One Evade, one Redirect (to where), a Contain, what is probably five hull because any less makes no sense, and miserable shields. They'll play like Raiders, only surviving best-arc approaches (front vs. Imperials) when the target has bigger fish to fry.

i'm interested that people are looking to Avenger for their boarding parties - I'd rather stick it on a supporting ship (looking at you Quasar Fire...), and keep those slots free on the ISD.

Leia is a mega buff to bomber builds...you can now push more squadrons in a single go.

Example Gallant Haven with expanded hanger bays...you now push 5 without having to save for that token :P

Why not both?

And weak weapons (with no weapons at all in the rear). I would expect them to be dirt cheap. 30+ range maybe?

Touché. ;)

I'm just...so...happy.

Quick hits;

1. Love Sloane, regardless of which iteration hits the shelves. TIE Fighters coming in hot.

2. Anyone else thing those quad turrets are an anti squad offensive retro?

3. Did we really need to encourage ramming? Can't win them all I guess.

4. Excited to see what the officers do.

5. Initially excited by the double pack, but the one set of upgrades is sort of dampener. I wonder if the titles will require/reward you to run them in multiples of two.

6. Red AS die!

7. Double Slot upgrades is an interesting concept and I'm looking forward to what else we will see in that vein in the future. Also intrigued by what is already there.

8. Leia is very interesting. Expensive but she really turns those command dials ON. Salv gets to add and reroll, Everything gets to Nav like Ozzel, double tap that engineering value, everything a minimum of squad 2. 38 points is a lot though. Need some time to digest.

9. Q2 2017? Don't you sit there and lie to me FFG.

Very exciting stuff.

Counterpoint, Swarm Sloane restricts her to the fighters that are most likely to proc her anti-ship nonsense, and to the fighters she can bring in greatest numbers. I'm skeptical that non-Rogue is actually that much of a power boost, given that anti-ship die on a lot of other Imperial squadrons is black, which makes her worthless there. I also think we're all skipping over how absolutely murderous those TIE units will be to Rebel aces (a point back in your favor, Dras). Two TIEs can permanently relieve the A-wing aceholes of their scatter tokens (and good blasted riddance.) Sloane gets even more ridiculous against aces in blue-blue matchups, so we will definitely have to see. FFG has rebuilt cards after the initial tease before, who's to say they won't again?

Don't you want that Gunnery team on your ISD? :)
