I did a quick (not exhaustive) search on the site, but didn't find anything that didn't involve potential surgery on my ship(s), so I thought I'd ask the crowd. What method/s have you used to make the Ghost more stable? I've seen methods both for connecting its peg to the base, and the ship to the stand, but I'd like to hear what works best for you.

1. Do you remove the standard connector, and replace it with one/some/many magnets to keep it connected?
2. Do you drill out the base and add a new, sturdier rod to hold the ship up?
3. Do you just glue the dang thing into place?
4. Are there any third party stands (via shapeways, for example), that would hold the ship better?

I'm looking forward to your advice!

I epoxied three steel ball bearings on the tripod stand, and placed magnets on the ship on the 3 places where the tripod normally rest. I also magnetized the base and added a magnet to the base of the tripod to help keep it all together.

It's pretty straight forward work if you have all the tools and the parts, but we really shouldn't have to resort to this kind of nonsense.

I really like the VCX as a ship, but I have a lot of issues with the model mainly due to it's size. I mean it has to be out of scale, right? You can fit like a dozen X-wings inside of that thing! It is too big. I replaced mine with a LEGO microfighter Ghost on a regular large ship post the last time I ran it in our league. I've never had too many issues connecting the Ghost to the stand, and it's easy enough to add magnets to that. I plan to magnetize the stand the base at some point since that is where most of my problems lie, but I haven't managed to figure out a good way to set that up yet.

Here's what I did.

The Ghost stand has one point which attaches and two upon which the model just rests. I put magnets on the two remaining posts, and corresponding magnets in the hull. Pictures in that thread. It wasn't a ton of work and it added quite a bit of stability.

(@Force Majeure - if I wanted to use a Hot Wheels Ghost I'd have to wrestle mine back from my 4 year old son's hands, and I think he'd put up a fight ...)

I've just bought a ghost without stand . I'm going to make a new one using 3d printer, but i dont know the original measurements - can somebody help me with that ?

I just used an epic stand. It works fine.

I was surprised, but someone suggested I just use normal pegs the last time I flew the Ghost, and it actually worked fine? Three pegs might be too unstable, and with one peg you’ll run into stuff, but two worked pretty well.
