LWF worth it for multiple ships?

By TwoDeeSix, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Partly because I buy another Striker, which I like at the moment, but I'm wondering if Lightweight Frame (LWF) has been doing well for players.

I have not abandoned the idea of having a good bomber squadron, and can imagine having LWF on Tie Bombers as being useful.

Any thoughts on LWF on a squad?

If you're flying bombers with munitions, then Guidance Chips or Long Range Scanners is better. I recommend Lightweight Frame for the TIE/sf and TIE shuttle if you're not using it on the Striker it came with.

i don't feel the effectiveness of LWF changes with the number of ships equipped with it, rather WHICH ships are equipped with it, bombers & punishers have better upgrades, if you're using phantoms like phantoms they should at least have Stygniums, so that leaves the SF, the Striker, and the TIE shuttle, which it works well on each

If you're running TIE bombers with bombs instead of missiles then LWF might be worth it...

Thanks all. I do see that bombers with bombs could benefit from the defensive help of LWF. Good idea.

And yes, I suppose Punishers and TIE Bombers (at range configurations) would be better with EM or Chimps.

The TIE Shuttle - I haven't figured how to use it to where it's worth it.

I think I will always "need" another sfTIE, and of course another Striker.

As for Strikers, I think they are a good example of having what you need in just one package. I tried Pure Sabacc with LWF, Ailerons, and PTL (to make him/her stressed if nothing else). I thought s/he did well, so, that was a good, almost independent expansion pack build. The not too good dial is helped a lot by the Ailerons, and Duchess would be a all-in-one solution.
