Suppressive Fire

By Msdehaas, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi,
I am pretty new to the game so still in a learning process.
The question a friend and i have is about Suppressive Fire condition card.
When I attack target enemy ship that ship get the condition card after that attack is over, in the end phase the card still is on that ship.
Next turn that ship attack a ship without one attack die.
When Rex is targeting another ship than the last round (so not the one with the Condition card on it) that new ship gets the Suppressive Fire condition card right? And if that ship is next in line to attack the same round that ship also attack with one attack die less?
My friend think it is a bit OP but we both can't understand the condition card on another way.

Are we doing it the right way or Ar we noobing big time? I hope you can help us out an ex-plane it to us in a way we can understand.

If i read you right you are right - Rexes condition can be used twice a turn if you shoot it this way. Just remember that first ship you shot immediatly looses the condition is Rex shoots at another target.

So to make this work, Rex's first target needs to shoot before Rex and his second target needs to shoot after Rex. It's an interesting application. I've been using Rex to try to continuously restrict one ship, but your strategy could be more effective at limiting enemy offense over all.

I think it ends up not being overpowered because if you switch targets back to the high PS pilot the following round, you lose the benefit from Suppressive Fire in that round. You are really still getting the same number of affected shots per attack from Rex, you are just shifting the round in which they happen.

I guess you might be able to get a little more mileage out of the gimmick if you had Roark (or a ship with Decoy) in your squad. Assuming that your opponent has a ship that shoots before Rex and a ship that fires after Rex and that they all want to shoot something that isn't Rex you can finagle an extra Suppresive Fire every other round.

Round 1:
Use Roark to allow Rex to shoot opponent's high PS ship at PS 12.
Opponent's high PS ship attacks something other than Rex.

Round 2:
Opponent's high PS ship attacks something other than Rex.
Rex attacks Opponent's low PS ship at his regular PS.
Opponent's low PS ship attacks something other than Rex.

Round 3:
Start back up at Round 1.

This is basically the core idea behind my Rex Biggs Roark Ashoka list.

I don't know if it will actually be good or not (it's just in my phone haven't gotten it on the table yet) but I think it will be fun since I ended up with 2 Rebel TIEs.

Thank you all for the answers, its clear to us now
