X Wing Corellian Conflict... Would you buy this?

By Hexdot, in X-Wing

Corellian Conflict is one Armada campaign game. You build your fleet and go throught a serie of missions. More Armada Objectives and the like.

If someday FFG publish the X Wing variant I shall be a happy buyer. Perhaps each player controls ships based on a Capital ship. Some simple rules to handle repair, promotions and replacements. The pure joy of fielding that Dagger Squadron survivor after 3 battles, now PS 6 and with a free Adrenaline Rush each game...but perhaps with one less Torp Slot because one launcher is damaged and no time left to mount a new one.

This kind if games is very, very interesting to players not interested in Rankings and Tournament play. Job half done with the Armada product. Background, drawings...

I was hoping FFG would release a Campaign Box Rogue One themed, where the Rebels are the Partisans doing missions against the Empire in a campaign of Descent/Imperial Assault style.

The box would be for 3 players (2 Rebel vs. DM Empire), but with rules for expanding it with up to +2 Rebels players (adding more Squad Points to the DM's squads). It would come with 1 Partisan X-Wing, 1 Partisan Y-Wing (both with title "fix" cards), 2 TIE Fighters (blue alternative painting) and 1 TIE Striker (with "Heavy Loadout" title, adding bombs).

But I guess that was pretty much a wild dream (like world peace and such).

I'm just finishing a CC campaign right now, last few battles. It is brilliant. It also includes some great new pilots and mechanics, and so would represent a very nice window for some great fixes to some old classics.

The sooner FFG does something similar for X wing, the better.

In a heart beat. Honestly, if I could find someone to regularly play Armada with, I'd already own CC and have played through it that way. Unfortunately, my area isn't that strong in the Armada scene, but is super heavy in X-Wing.

I'm really, really hoping FFG releases an official X-Wing campaign. If they don't, I might buy CC and just see what elements would make sense in a custom X-Wing version.

ALSO it would be a super easy method for FFG to introduce new "fixes" to ships they don't want to release again, including the fabled X-Wing fix.

An x wing campaign would make me cry manly tears of joy.

I would absolutely, totally, completely buy something like that.

And as the Corellian Conflict is getting ok sales for Armada, I think that an X wing campaign could actually be a real thing in a short time. I hope FFG will put the errated cards, and maybe some minor fix to some ships.
Oh boy, that would be my dreamest expansion of all, one in which I would not hesitate to invest good money.

The only thing I would buy before an x wing campaign, would be a Resurgent star destroyer for Armada in the size of the x wing Imperial Rider

Yeah, I would get it.

I am in the midst of finishing a CC campaign and love it, this is the biggest reason I got Armada. I have 2 HotAC campaigns currently going and I would be all over an official X-Wing campaign.

Probably, but hopefully it would be designed better than the Correllian Conflict.

You think you're playing a narrative campaign but there is zero incentive to build narrative fleets, and many incentives to build highly specialized and optimized fleets.

Also if the X-wing one encourages battles where one side sets up and avoids the enemy for 4 turns and leaves, I would be extremely disappointed. A lot of time wasting in the Corellian Conflict that I don't care for.

What would make me cray even more tears of joy, if they included in the box models for the tokens of the senator's shuttle, the escape pod and some cargo containers. ;)

I would never in my life consider using Senator's shuttle token - there is always a Hwk-290 or a G1A Starfighter playing this role!

Count me ! I really want a campaign box for x-wing !

I'd really like it. Would give my local group something to do.

What I don't understand is why something like this hasn't been done by FFG. A Yavin campaign, or Scarif, or Endor...

When the game first came out I expected a campaign to follow pretty quickly.

I'd buy it.

In the meantime, I and the rest of the Shuttle Tydirium podcast crew are working on a 4-round campaign that we will be running at Gencon as a narrative event. After Gencon, we'll be releasing that to the interwebs and running a web-based playthrough of the campaign.

And, more on the back burner for me at the moment, I have a PvP x-wing campaign system that is being playtested by a couple of intrepid dudes. It's something I've been working on for a long time, and I think it's very promising. But it needs more testing and work before it's ready to release to everyone!

I desire it more than Sauron covets the One Ring.

I think this is the way to make it feel like X-Wing; you control a starfighter complement based on a ship, planet, or whatever, with recurring engagements in different locations (read: changing battlefield conditions).

The big drawback to our group doing HotAC is that no one wants to go to the time and effort to print everything out. If FFG were to release something for purchase similar to CC, we'd be all over it.

I would definitely buy this. And I add it would probably "save X wing"

Or "The Trawn's Pursuit". You know, at the end of rebels, Thrawn finally flight with the remnants of his fleet to the uncharted limits of the galaxy, and now, both Rebels and Imperium (and even scum), try to catch him before Thrawn takes control of a unknown but extremely powerfull alien technology known as the "Darkstrider".

But even outnumbered and outgunned, the Thrawn's tactical genius make him an enemy to reckoning...

I'd be in for a Rogue Squadron one any day. Actually I have been holding out for an announcement that they would do this!

Bring in Rizzal, Fizzal and Nizzal!

It is hard to me to understand why we do not see Campaign Games with X Wing. In the 80's we played Blue Max campaigns...and X Wing is like a brother to Blue Max.

We want to expend money in AT ATs or one two sided "Sector" map. Asteroids (10 Rocks if you fight in that zone). Nebulas ( extra penalty firing R3 and only TL action at range 1-2...

Pilot improvement rules. Extra bonus if one progress to Squadron Leader (free Squad Leader EPT). If one ship is destroyed draw 3 cards from a new "Persistent Damage" Deck. If not "Destroyed" card expend Repair Points or go to battle with a ship with -1 AGI and risking engine overheat.

If you play SW RPGs you can buy campaign books and the like. But with X Wings 100/6 and praise FFG. Sell me a ground strike box with one AT AT, one AT ST and one Turbolaser AA site. Corellian Campaign. Hoth Assault. I promise you I will buy at least 2 each.

I would buy this in a heartbeat, despite never having played any of the missions included in the boxes. I also don't understand why FFG haven't done this yet unless they are keeping these things up their sleeves for when the demand for the game starts waning.

I'm curious, for those that have played both, how does this hold up against HotAC?

The time to water the house plant is not when it turns yellow. . .

don't disagree and would not be MY strategy at all, but I am at a loss as to why they haven't done it and I HAVE seen other companies make that blunder.

A million times yes. We need more official support beyond the tournament format. The Upsilon shuttle doesn't even have a mission! The success of the competitive scene is both a boon and a curse for this game.

Tomorrow I start running a 4 day, 8-11 every day, Xwing and Armada combined campaign with 16 players... basically 4 players are doing the Armada Campaign, but the remaining 12 are playing 3 XWing team matches a round too... this means that one side has to "win" the XWing matches, and its game effect will in essence be filling in for 2 more Armada players. Should be fun
