Nien Nunb + Stay on Target + Targeting Astromech (Pattern Analyzer)

Nien Nunb + Stay on Target + Targeting Astromech (+ pattern analyzer )

In theory you can see where the enemy is, choose to use Stay on target (even on a one straight maneuver) and make every move a red move. You get your free target lock from Targeting astromech and have still a free action (due to pattern analyzer ). Worst case you can use this free action to boost to get into range 1 of an enemy ship and THEN receive and remove your stress token.

For me Stay on target looks like a better build than with Push the limit , because with Stay on target you can also change your maneuver afterwards (still getting the same effect than Push the limit ). The T-70 is elegant because you have 7 (!) range 3 moves to choose (including 2 Talon rolls). So you can switch from a 3 bank left to a right talon roll, get your target lock, then boost right or left (optionally with Black one title to remove a potential target lock) into range 1 of an enemy ship.

38 points with autothrusters or vectored thrusters , 36 points with integrated astromech .

Thoughts?

I looked at Stay on Target with Snap Wexley/Targeting Astromech as well. It's a nice combo, but it runs into the same problem a lot of T-70 builds run into - they're just so expensive for what they do.

The guy I want to synergize with Stay on Target is Pops Krail in his Y-wing.

Nice idea, probably super fun to play. Also 35-38 points for a shipt that's much worse than Ryad or Fenn, or even 40pt Norra, to take some in the same range of cost.

Been running this Nien Nunb next to a Rey with Finn and Kanan:

Nien Nunb, Rage, R3-A2, Pattern Analyzer, Experimental Interface

Suffers on survivability but acts as a shield for Rey. Can boost into R1 even after a Red Maneuver to Rage, if you land at R1 anyway just Focus/Rage, if Rey doesn't need to S-Loop you can use PA and Kanan to Rage for 1 stress only if you're not at R1 of your target.

Fun stress management build.

Nien with R3-A2 and Snap shot is even more fun. Double stress without stress.

I've been wanting to try this, along with a similar build that uses BB-8 instead of the Targeting Astromech. As long as you dial in a 3-straight, you'll be able to barrel roll before movement to get a ton of positional options.

If only Hobbie had an EPT slot...

SoT/TA Nien doesn't need a Pattern Analyzer - if you get it right, he clears all the stress before you hit the Perform Action step.

Love it, its fun, used it with Expertise Rey - Beat Palp Defenders, lost to Paratinni (Before new FAQ)

I have been running this as part of a losing triple T-70 squad - he is absolutely a winner in this config, even if the rest of the squad is weak.

So far, Stay on Target + Targeting Astromech +PA is my favorite Nien build. I have actually been flying it instead of just theorizing about it. The cost is actually 35 points without autothrusters, and you don't need autothrusters as you are often at range one. It's superbly maneuverable and you still get a target lock if you bump something. The damage output is high.

There are two things that help this ship. Cassian in the U-wing is extremely helpful because there will be turns when you don't get to range one. Bringing Intel Agent is well worth 1-point when facing ships with higher pilot skill.

I ran Nien with PTL & PA at my recent regionals. He was great fun; nothing quite like getting into R1 (and arc) off a red move; and ending up with double action and no stress.

I do like the idea of running him with TA and SoT. Will have to try it soon.

Being able to talon roll and boost back into range 1 is huge though.

True, but Primed Thrusters does that for a point cheaper.

E: Wait, that doesn't actually work, does it. yeah, the PA is definitely useful.

Nien can't boost and rage tho with SOT.

Rage Nien is not a very good build when you want to boost into range 1

Experimental Interface.

I know. And that is the reason why this is not a very good build

What's your thinking on that? It's worked quite well for me. I realise you lose out in Integrated Astromech but that's why I fly him with a juicier target to confuse target priority.

You lose IA and Autos so he's very squishy for his cost, basically. It's still not bad though. He hits like a truck but folds like wet paper.

Meh. AT are a waste of space on a 2AG cab anyway.
