House Always Wins [SPOILER]

By Network57, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Another question about the Aloof Criminal rule, but not the one you think...

Does this apply to the Mob Enforcer weakness? He spawns as if he were just drawn from the Encounter deck, and by Agenda 1a, he has Aloof. So does this quasi-neuter him somewhat at the beginning of the game?

Yup! It doesn't distinguish. He's a criminal enemy.

Which is why basic weaknesses are drawn randomly. A very select circumstance where you get a small benefit from the game. Remember he is still a hunter so he will be chasing you down even though he won't be engaging and attacking you until that circumstance changes so he's still a present threat. And it even makes thematic sense. He doesn't want to cause a scene in the club. But as soon as stuff starts going down, he's free to attack. Remember that as soon as the agenda card leaves play, the Aloof keyword mentioned no longer applies.

That also means you can't damage him... Or the Agenda advances, right?

Yep! :) But it gives you leeway to get the resources together to use the parley action to get rid of him without worrying about combat.

Hmm good call. Just that in HAW, resources are already at a premium.

He'll also get eaten by the nasty monster when it appears ;)
