Insofar as Ackbar goes, a critical element is that you have to choose to use Ackbar only before the attack step, and the card says that you may make the actual decision to comply at that time. As worded, I am inclined to believe that the restriction cannot possibly be in place until this decision is made by the player. However, after making that decision, QLT or any future additional attack is indeed restricted to the sides only.
Can I just state how happy I am that people are approaching this, at least so far, in a polite and friendly way despite the rather vague wording? This came about as a random thought after experimenting with Kallus in the CC, and I knew immediately people were going to be very vocal about possibly getting 2-3 extra attacks from a weird and previously unnoticed rule interaction.
