Curse you Dras! (Not really :))

By DrakonLord, in Star Wars: Armada

So playing a 800 point epic game over the weekend, i had some of the worst rolls ever:

- rolling four blue accuracies from a X wing squadron activated by a squadron command, followed by 4 Red accuracies from the ship that activated

- four squadrons (2 Xs, a A and a HWK) rolling something like 8 accuracies and a couple of crits against generic squadrons

- rolling triple red blanks three times from my Z95s (not unexpected)

And then to make matters worst my opponent rolled amazing every time, not even joking ever antisquadron roll had at least one damage and a hit, and antiship wise only 2 of his rolls DIDNT include at least 2 accuracies -_-

So i lost the epic game (he lost 3 ties,i lost a cr90, pelta, neb-b and too many squadrons to count (13 ish)) , but it was still fun and we both used upgrades, tactics and squadrons we dont normally use so it was awesome to play :)

Now to make me feel better though, does anyone feel like sharing their experience with absolutely horrible dice rolls by them or amazing dice rolls by their opponent that cost them a game or ship/squadron?

You can't Curse me.

I knew that even before seeing the Movie.

Does 30 straight failures to roll a black crit to proc APT count?

12 black dice

+2 CF dial

OE rerolls on all 14

+2 CF tokens

= 30 total rolls, zero crits

.0189% chance of that happening, or about 2/10,000.

... Then my opponent turned around and one-shotted a shrimp with a Yavaris Luke that rolled two natural hit/crits. So that was cool too.

I suddenly feel muchhappier about my 20 odd accuracies, did you at least roll some damage against your targets?

In my game, apart from the 3 ties i did 5 total shield damage :(

My worst roll ever was I rolled 15 black dice over 2 turns and every one was a blank......

Ouch.......yeah that really is.... well bad

My second favorite was my ISD-I firing its front arc at short range into an ISD-II which had 4 hull left, no shields on any side and no brace token.

I kill the ISD-II I win 10- 0 at the time.

I roll 3 red, 2 blue and four black with a CF. I get exactly 3 hits and nothing to reroll with....

Last shot of the game and I lose 7-3 :-)

A few recent examples:

2 weeks ago I had an ISD double arc'ed at close range by two MC30 Torpedo Frigates w/OE & APT. Total damage = 4

At a Q1 Tournament last week, I activated Wedge 3 times with Flight Controllers, attacking already activated squadrons. 21 dice. Total damage = 3

Yesterday, I had 10 dice of flak fire against squadrons in a turn. Total damage = 2

I keep telling myself that dice happen, and my luck will change.......

There was a thread a year or two back which describes a way to test if your dice had any moulding flaws which might make them weighted (it was something to do with floating them in a solution, possibly something salty).

I suspect that the examples of dreadful luck here are just standard probability kicking you in the teeth but it's worth checking if you have done duff dice.

Of course, if any of this is on Vassal then this doesn't help you.

Fortunately I had plenty of that lying around after the aforementioned series of rolls...

You were that excited, eh?

...ohhhhhhhhh

Never mind.

Hahaha, glad to see I'm not the only one then, and I know the dice aren't affected and it's my rollering that must do it since my friend and I share the same dice..... Yet on 9/10 occasions he gets good rolls am I do absolutely horrible :(

I've taken wedge a few times now attacking already activated squadrons and on average I roll at most 1 damage, :/

yeah, but even changing dice around and borrowing a friends dice to roll instead still does nothing for me, so I understand the feeling of dice happen and my luck will change lol

I think it works like Rieekan. He is already damned, so you can't fix him. And trying to curse him is pointless since the end result will be the same.

They totally stack.

Just irrelevantly so.

Like using Fire Control Team to stack the Default Critical with XX-9 Turbolasers.

Not irrelevant at all. I got 300 points from superior position in my last game. How I could get if my opponent was Riekan? :)
