So let's say a ps5 ship chewbacca who has scavenger crane and hull upgrade deals a face up damage card, then boba fett flies over and discards chewie's hull upgrade, destroying him, if chewie destroys the ps5 ship, would chewie scavenger craning back the hull upgrade save him from death?

I'll go out on a limb and say NO.

There have been things that could appear to put off death but if a ship ever hits that magic threshold of cards = hull there is no coming back from it.

Hull Upgrade doesn't say to flip card. Just to modify your ship hull value by one.

But boba feet crew made chewie discard hull upgrade, therefore allowing chewie to explode, and chewie flipped it back up, albeit this is a rare edge case, I'd want to know if chewie would be dead or be alive?

Ah hah I would say since it was flipped it is flipped back. It qualifies on every level as a flipped card modification. going to be tricky to abuse having to kill someone every-time you want one hull back.

That wouldn't work because the next damage chewie would suffer would be leathal no matter what, so it'd be a one trick pony, but I'm curious if that's legal to have chewie save himself by killing something within r1-2

Simultaneous fire. They get fatal damage on you, then you kill someone and flip back up hull upgrade?

Yup, that's the question on if chewie would be alive

The thing about Simultaneous Fire is that it can't keep you alive if you're supposed to be dead. The precedent for is R5-D8. If you would be killed but some game effect is keeping you from being immediately removed it has been ruled that even if you could get an action to activate R5-D8 and it would successfully discard a damage card the ship is still dead. Getting your Hull Upgrade back after being dead would be the same thing.
