Latts Razzi/Inspiring Recruit interactions

By andwmi, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I have Latts Razzi on a ship with a stress token and another ship at range 1 with Inspiring Recruit on it, when the Latts Razzi ship attacks an enemy and removes a stress token, can Inspiring Recruit remove the stress token off of the Latts Razzi ship?

And if not would it let you remove a second stress from the enemy ship? And if that's the case could you add a second evade result for Latts?

I would think the second token removed (by Inspiring Recruit) would have to be from the same place as the first, but I expect there will be disagreement on that point.

In no case would triggering Inspiring Recruit involve doing anything else a second time, though, even if it was something you paid for by removing the first stress.

I agree with digitabusker. The second stress token gets removed from the same place by the same ship that removed the first. Anything else gets too fuzzy on exactly how anything should work. The ship with Latts could choose to remove two stress tokens from a ship that is attacking in exchange for a single evade token. I could actually see using that when being attacked by a ship that derives some benefit from having a stress token (4-LOM, Keyan, Ibtisim, Ezra, or any ship with Wired or Ezra crew).

You're both wrong. Inspiring Recruit says, "when a friendly ship at Range 1-2 removes a stress token" meaning the friendly ship has to be the one removing the stress token. It's the same (sad) reason Kanan Jarrus crew near another ship with Kyle Katarn crew won't let Kyle's ship get a Focus token if it performs a white maneuver: Kanan's ship is the "you" removing the stress, and Kyle only assigns the Focus if his ship is the "you" removing the stress.

I reread the OP and saw that the question had Inspring Recruit on the ship that was attacking the ship with Latts Razzi. You are right about how that works.

I was assuming that whichever ship has Latts Razzi equipped also had Inspiring Recruit equioped of was at range 1-2 of a friendly ship that did. In that case Latts could remove the second stress token.

In that case, if that's what you were both answering, that seems to be correct: Latts/IR can remove a second stress from the enemy ship, but it won't grant a second evade. I don't think the designers intended to let you remove multiple stress from enemy ships, though that doesn't appear to be currently useful in any way.

Lattz is the one removing the stress. She is the source of the stress removal.

A friendly ship near her with IR would allow her to remove an addtional stress, but it can only be removed from the ship Latz is on, not from her attacker.

I think that may be up for some debate. Inspiring recruit does not specify where the second stress comes from only that a second stress may be removed. Most people are (correctly I believe) interpreting this to mean the second stress must come from the same ship the first stress was removed from. Since the ship with Latts removed the first stress from her attacker, that ship can only use inspiring recruit to remove a second stress from that ship's attacker and not itself.
