Revenge of Agility

By Sir13scott, in X-Wing

So with Zuckuss being nerfed I was wondering on the meta comeback of classics such as Soontir, Corrin, Jake, Inquisitor, Vader, and Whisper.

The problem is a lot of auto-damage cards out there such as BMST and now General Hux.

It seems to me that these ships were Dominating when I first picked up the game and now I rarely see them.

Is it time to bring back the high agility arc dodging ships?

People have largely learned to fly to beat them. Just like people now have a much better game vs 2ship fat turret style.

Not really. They will still be good. But mostly balanced nowwithout palp.

You are going to see a shitload of RAC Kylo Vader + Ace builds now that they have nerfed Imperials into playing RAC + Ace, Triple Defenders, or 2 Defender + Ace. So no, things with high agility and low health are not going to make a comeback. Scum is going to be forced into shenanigans builds now that Manaroo is useless, so expect Brobots and TLTs to make a comeback for Scum. Brobots and RAC builds will be the #1 builds for Imperials and Scum unless C-ROC changes things (current spoilers don't change much other than the PS1 scyk pilot being pretty cool and the PS3 EPT pilot being niche in Mindlink builds as a 14 point mindlinker).

Manaroo isn't useless. She's been severely nerfed compared to the rest of the changes, but she still works. It does raise questions as to what she adds over a scout, depending on how you fly, but I can still get her to trigger, just not always with the flexibility she used to have.

I hope FFG tries harder to reverse its long held decision to nerf Aces (esp. Soontir) that has colored all the Waves since 8. I love watching a great Ace pilot, even when flown by an opponent. To me, great flying is X-Wing.

No you are not, only form Impiral players because that is the last leg for them to stand on.

Everyone else will just go to Scum. You will be seeing more Scum Arc dodgers and Scum Turrets. Scum is now going to be the best and I will predict win the next two worlds before Rebels (or someone else) gets buffed up enough to take them down.

Tail Gunners.

They are the new OP goodness. It doesn´t matter which ship, even the Firespray!

Happy Flyin....

I have to disagree. Aces are still super powerful and extremely well costed. That's why generics and other lower PS pilots don't see as much use anymore.

Yes there are more direct counters to Aces now, but even then it's tough to fight them.

Disagree

....almost every ship in the last three waves has had an anti-flying mod or ability with it; seems FFG wants this to become a card game.

Manaroo is far to be useless. She changes totally, but still pretty good. She's just a different ship.

Like every other ships touched by these faq's, now some skill is required to fly her. But she still useful.

Except flying a traditional ace like Soontir isn't great flying a lot of the time. It's executing one of your green moves (2 hard usually for Soontir) and then doing 1 or 2 repositioning moves with full board knowledge.

Just wondering then, and not trying to be combative, but what would you consider "good flying?"

If no one had repositioning moves, then I could see an argument to be made that good flying is 100% prediction (which I would totally be okay with, and get rid of turrets while we're at it :P), but that isn't the case unfortunately.

In my opinion (based on the difficulty I have doing those things) good flying is:

-flying a small based low PS blocker (like an academy TIE): here it's 100% prediction

- flying a low/mid PS arc-bound ship

Compared to these 2, flying a double repositioning PS9+ ace feels easy.

Holy Negative Nelly Batman!

I'm no tournament player, but I predict that Kylo will be the new Palpatine. Put him on RAC with VI and he can basically prevent another ship from getting to play X-Wing for two turns. This should work wonders against ace lists with 2-3 quality ships, but will be weaker vs swarms.

Kylo isn't that powerful... you still have to deal critical damage, plus you either have to spend an action which potentially weakens your opportunity to deal said critical damage, or hope that your opponent shoots you in the Upsilon before saving you for last.

It's no where near Palpatines level of effectiveness.

It oblitterates anything that doesn't rely on dodging to avoid damage. 2 ship builds are at a severe disadvantage against RAC Kylo unless they run determination. Plus, you can still take Vader + Gunner and take out the ones that dodge you constantly. X7 defenders are really one of the only things that survive really well against it. Triple Scouts w/ ordnance do well against it.

People were saying that about the ace meta too with stuff like Soontir with a token stack, Stealth Device, Autothrusters, and Palpatine reroll tanking through massed fire.

I was outflown by a Snapshot A-Wing swarm recently, that was beautiful flying! Soontir Fel always felt like easy mode to me, even back in wave 3 when he didn't have all of the failsafes.

Except on the ARC where people use C-3PO...

No really Tail gunner is a good card but it's usable on very few ships, and even then it's only good on a select few of those.

Outmaneuver Tail gunner is nasty on Scum Kath, but you know what's coming and how to avoid it... for the rest i don't see where this is OP.

Also Agility ships are very present and dominant in the meta and will be in the future. X7 is still awesome even after nerf and Emperor nerf, and Soontir is still superb even without Emperor.

So no idea why agility needs a "revenge"

Revenge of swarm may be ? :)

Since the "death" of palpatine x7 zuckuss manaroo can we see more swarm list against large ship ?
