How would Fat Han do today?

By Sixter, in X-Wing Squad Lists

One of my favorite netlists of old is the "classic" Fat Han (Han/Predator/MF/C3PO/Luke/Engine plus 3 Bandits).

I realize the big ship MoV tournament point change weakened it quite a bit back in the day. Apart from that, how would Fat Han do in todays meta? What would be the toughest builds for it to face?

Are there other Fat Han builds that are better today (Han plus Jake etc)?

I prefer to take Expertise akd Gunner instead of Predator and Luke. You still save one point. Unfortunately Rex + 2Z is one point too much

100 points

PILOTS
Captain Rex (17)
Sabine's TIE Fighter (14), Sabine's Masterpiece (1), Tactician (2)

Biggs Darklighter (26)
X-Wing (25), R4-D6 (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Han Solo (57)
YT-1300 (46), Swarm Tactics (2), C-3PO (3), Gunner (5), Millennium Falcon (Evade Version) (1)

This could be infuriating to play against. There are points to fiddle with too, you could play Rex naked, change Gunner to Baze Malbus, and get R2-D2 on Biggs and Tactical Jammer on the Falcon. Or you have the opportunity to make the Gunner swap to give Rex Black Market Slicer Tools and take Tactical Jammer on Han.

I've been running the classic version except HSCP instead of 3PO. My problem has been the wingman for Han. Han's been a beast and nearly "solo's" entire builds, but I lose the wingman so early that I can get enough damage through to finish any one ship off.

Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
Finn (5)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Burnout SLAM (1)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Tactical Jammer (1)
Millennium Falcon (TFA) (1)

Captain Rex (14)

Biggs Darklighter (25)
R4-D6 (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Total: 100

I am more a fan of this as you can reliably hit 4-5 dice with Rey while closing while making it all but impossible to hit her and making it harder to damage Biggs with Rex flying around.

Han however is more Flexible once The other ships are gone and is still a top pick. Han still is perfectly capable of winning tournaments, and now that other builds have been nerfed, i think he is even more viable again.

I've been looking at this version of fat Han but would still run it with the classic Jake. He can survive fairly well if he does;t bump

If you need a wingman in high 30s that can last then either Norra or Miranda with C-3PO would be a good start.

60 Han Solo (Original) (46), VI (1), Hotshot Copilot (4), Gunner (5), Falcon (Evade) (1), EU (4)
39 Norra Wexley (29), R2-D2 (4), C-3PO (3), PTL (3), Alliance Overhaul (0)

Now Han can strip tokens from 2 targets per turn with his free reroll to ensure some damage gets pushed through. He shoots at PS11 and can arc-dodge too making him very dangerous. Norra can then slow roll to the token-stripped target and lay down some heavy hurt with her free extra hit. She can also mitigate a guaranteed 2 damage per turn.

If you want, you could drop Han down to PS10 with adaptability and use the extra point to either upgrade Gunner to Luke or buy Norra Vectored Thrusters. Or replcace Nora with Miranda.

38 Miranda (29), TLT (6), C-3PO (3)

Both these wing-women can negate a guaranteed 2 points of damage per turn. If your opponent aims to hurt them early on, they will still take time to bring down and Han will be hitting them the whole time. If they survive to the end game, they are almost indestructible.

I did this a while ago won 2/2, but lost interest in playing it.

Bigs goes next to the edge, Han keeps bumping bigs to make sure to give cover, Big turns focus to evades. Han used evadetitle.

Then just follow the edge of the board untill u win...

Captain my Captain! (99)

Han Solo (56) - YT-1300
Expertise (4), Bistan (2), Jan Ors (2), Millennium Falcon (1), Tactical Jammer (1)

Biggs Darklighter (29) - X-Wing
R2-D2 (4), Integrated Astromech (0)

Captain Rex (14) - TIE Fighter

Both Rey and Han are good. Tradeoff tankyness for mobility and peak damage by going Rey. What you gain in Tankyness you lose in mobility and firepower. I've found them both difficult to make my go-to tournament list, after flying them in a regional, an open & other events. List Juggler seems to agree however, there is always someone out there to prove different ships can dominate when played well.

I think Im going to try the following:

Han/Expertise/Gunner/C3PO/Title/Engine 63 pts

Lothal/Autoblaster Turret 37 pts
