Zatoichi added as a Charater to the game

By postalnik, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

One of my favorite Japanese movie characters is Zatoichi. He is a blind swordsman. It would just be nice to see something that looks like him or made some reference to him. I am really excited about this game coming out. Mantis Clan Rules!

It's true but if you hope to play Mantis in the first months of the game, you might be disappointed. According to a poster from Asmodee, only seven Clan mon were shown. It doesn't necessarily means antis and Spider won't be in the game, but there's a good chance they're not.

Its not like they were a real great clan anyways.

Reported. Unsubbed. Calling FBI now.

Joking aside, as difficult as it will be for me not to have my Tsuruchi to play, I suspect I'll be pretty happy to build a Dragon deck.

There was a Scorpion Clan dude recently whose two defining traits were:

- He was blind.

- He was badass.

Can't remember the name tho.

He doesn't have the Blind keyword! Clearly, he is faking it!

Another Blindy?

Ok that's enough guys to name this fashionable swordsman blindness. :)

It is not so much having a blind character as having a personality that is a homage to the lovable bad-ass that is Zatoichi. As for there not being a Mantis clan in the new release I will deal with it. I will just be glad that L5R is alive and kicking. I started with Mantis. Crane and Phoenix are my next choices. But L5R has always been about the Story of Rokugan as much as the gameplay. I hope that when they do bring in Mantis it is with a grand entrance.

Amusing side-note: Shiba Tsukimi's blindness led to many Phoenix wearing bandages over their eyes in honor of her. Most of these were ensorcelled in some way so as to not impede their vision- the long-fingernailed inquisitor up thread was one of those.

Of course, Tsukimi didn't ever get to show off in the story, but her Emperor Edition card made it plain she was pretty beastly in combat...

Huh, the more you know. That's pretty cool honestly.

There's roughly half dozen ways to do blindness not being a total hindrance in the fourth edition rpg, if you go digging for them. 2 kiho, 1 tattoo, and 1 technique that I can think of off the top of my head.
