So I was watching a game and and a defender was stressed did a 2 straight and bumped another ship. I was under the impression that if you couldn't complete you maneuver you weren't able to clear stress.

Really, I didn't know that.

Same as if you dial in a stress-inducing K-turn, T-roll or S-loop and can't complete it, you still get the stress token.

Yeah, you always complete a manuever's effects, regardless of if you bump or not (only if you bump, no action)

Thats why you always need to make double darn sure your red moves can be completed. Bumping on those deny any rotational perks but you still get stressed.

You still wont have an action if you clear the stress and bump, but least youre not stressed.
