Playlists to Paint to for Runewars

By drkpnthr, in Runewars Miniatures Game

So, without any 'Runewars soundtracks' I've been trying to work out what I want to listen to while I paint my Daqan and Waiqar. I was thinking people could share a few songs they plan to put on their playlists here for others to add and start building up that mix.

For my playlists, I'm thinking a mix of Lord of the Rings, Skyrim, the Rome soundtrack, Game of Thrones, Wagnar, the Solomon Kane soundtrack, Gladiator, Batman & Marvel, etc. All the rising, inspiration epic music while I paint Daqan, all the dark haunted music while I paint Waiqar.

I'd have never thought people would listen to music outwith their usual tastes to paint thematically. In all likelihood Sorastro will be my playlist.

Ha ha - thanks Muzz! It's Jeremy Soule all the way for me: The Skyrim and Guild Wars 2 soundtracks - both calming and epic at the same time :)

Led Zeplin.

Rock/Metal for me all the way and maybe a spot of Warren Zevon.

If you haven't checked them out yet, do yourself a favor and look at 2 steps from hell

Putting Ghost on repeat for painting Waiqar to be sure my rituals have enough power.

Listening to them as I opened this thread!

The best Music for this are epic music mixes on youtube. Especially Two Steps from Hell.

Had a listen, they are okay. I prefer Sabaton for that thematic power metal. Absolutely great live as well.

I'll be listening to the sweet, sweet sounds of my kids whining and screaming...

Some Beethoven and some Haydn for me, or maybe Vivaldi

Sabaton is amazing live. So much energy. You can tell they love what they do.

Zelda: Breath of the Wind!

the big bopper......

In Death it ends and other more rhythmic, electronic Witch House bands are often on my painting rotation. This track from the Occult Machine LP keeps the skeleton legions rising...

Meh, Sabaton is too metal for me, Man o War does what they do better anyway.

Love them too. Not seen them live yet though. Even if I've managed to see Rolling Stones, Led Zeplin, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slipknot and many others live.

edit:

I'd also say Man O'War are more metal than Sabaton... ?

I think nearly everything from the score for LotR or the Hobbit would be fitting or perhaps March of the Dead .

For those of you who love a dash of Thrash in your metal, check out Rigor Mortis:

Guitarist's later Joined the legendary band Ministry. His unique style and sound can be found in their mid-career releases.

"He gives me power .... he gives me life. Reanimator! Reanimate me!"

Oh, if any of you want some Monty Python with your metal then check out Evil Scarecrow.

Probably the most entertaining live band I've ever seen and now I travel to see them at least a couple of times per year.

I usually listen to LOTR/Hobbit soundtracks while I'm trying to get things figured out (paint schemes, processes, etc.). Once I have things figured out and I just need to get "in the zone", it's 80s/90s thrash all day (Overkill, Kreator, Vio-Lence, SLAYER!, Voivod, Exodus, etc.)! \m/

One more for Waiqar: Yer Dead Right, Mate
