What it's like to fly an Interceptor without Palp

Well, the video accurately represents what happens when you fly your interceptor straight at the enemy. I mean, it's not like Interceptors weren't fine before Palpatine was released (Disregarding the design mistake that was the PWT).

That's actually my favorite mission of the game, though. Very twitchy, but if you've gotten the hang of clearing mines during the earlier missions, the zero-tolerance for mistakes element makes it a blast to fly.

It's a hell of a mission, on my first time through I blitzed the whole thing, but going through again for YouTube I got stuck for about an hour and didn't finish al of the bonus objectives >.>

Are you sure it didn't have the light interceptor title? Every time it took a damage it had a face up effect.

Oh and you should probably request reinforcements. Another one blew up , send the next one to its de...termined battle.

I'm watching this and thinking "this is why you keep the lasers a double linked" and why you never locked mines unless you had to. The Inspection would be done by a high speed flyby between them cycling through the containers as you flew past them.

Then again, I never had the privilege of playing TIE Fighter, only all the other titles in the series.

after taking the mines out and identifying the containers, you're attacked by the "friendly" forces, dual linking lasers on the interceptor doesn't spread the fire enough to be worthwhile, and you can't sit outside of their range and hit them because they have a longer effective range than you. You have to fly across them, wait until they fire at where you're going to be, then as they do, pull back towards them and quickly fire a shot before they fire again.

It's tricky and made harder by the x-wing vs tie fighter engine instead of the original 1994 engine. Still great fun though, the whole lets play is up there. Playing through the whole series of games.

It's like being the Emperor's stool pigeon.

Guys got no jinking skills.

He obviously needs Autothrusters

But that was actually harder to do when you went faster. I believe the game had said your maneuverability was maximize at only 1/3 throttle which actually makes a lot more sense from a physics standpoint. The more momentum something has in a given direction the harder it will be to shift it somewhere else.

Just think if the Interceptor has a reverse x7 like title that gave free Evade (Actions?) when the fighter moved slowly.

The Tie Interceptor is a favorite of mine. Complain all you want, the nerve is in and it was needed. By the way, the Interceptor didn't get nerfed.

Man hit the 'match speed with target' button :D
