Converting old prices and encumbrance into WHFRP 3
I noticed early on that the equipment list included in the rulebook would not satisfy my players, or me. So one of the first things I did was to create an expanded equipment list. And I needed a quick rule to convert the old prices and encumbrance. But I quickly run into some problems, and a calculator was essential to solve this problem including some rudimentary mathematical skills. So here is what I come up with:
For low prices ( up to 5gcs) change old price into brass than multiply with x0,05
for medium prices (up to 15 gcs) change old price into brass than multiply with x0,04
for high prices (above 15 gcs) change old price into brass than multiply with x0,03
Changing silver to brass multiply by 12
changing gold to brass multiply by 240
Example: the Scout Kurt Meyer wants to purchase a wide-brimmed hat, like that of a witch-hunter. In the old edition that would cost 1 gc. So the formula would be 240 b x0,05= 12 b. So the price for the 3rd edition would be 12 brass pennies. It cost as much as common clothing! But then again it cost to look mean and tough.
My mathematical skills are not good. So if there are any skilled mathematicians that can help to improve the formula that would be nice. All input would be appreciated really.
ENCUMBRANCE
Encumbrance seems to live it owns life in the old world. So here it gets a bit complicated, again we will use a multiplier. This system is flawed since it breaks down at very low values or very high values.
1-49 enc x0,07
50-99 enc x0,06
100-149 enc x0,05
150-174 enc x0,04
175-199 enc x0,03
200+ enc x0,03 or x0,02
Example: Kurt Meyer, the Hunter has purchased a Storm lantern, and now wants to know its weight. In the old system a storm lantern would weight 30 encumbrances. Multiply that by 0, 07 gives you (30 x 0,07) = 2,1 or 2 encumbrance.
Doing this over and over can be quite taxing, so I made an expanded list including the most important items that I felt was lacking in the rulebook. It includes: sets of clothes, hats, footwear, cloth accessories, Carrying Equipment & containers, and Personal equipment.
But I Don`t Know how I can share this document with you, maybe there is some guidelines over at hammerzeit?
