Another Rey/Jan list! Yay!....?

By gennataos, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been actively ignoring this, but now that I've taken a look. Huh...that's possibly a 5 to 6-die attack for Rey after a round of TLTs to strip tokens. There are myriad crew options for Jan, my first instinct being Recon Specialist, but I figured PS8 might be a viable slot for HSCP. Sure, Jan is probably going to go down HARD at some point, but will it be before something more valuable goes down on the other side? Then it's Rey verses part of an opposing list, which...well...I think I'll take that.

Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
Finn (5)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Inertial Dampeners (1)
Smuggling Compartment (0)
Countermeasures (3)
Millennium Falcon (TFA) (1)

Jan Ors (25)
Predator (3)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Hotshot Co-pilot (4)

Total: 100

Just remember, HSCP only works with primary weapons on Jan's shots. But it is good for mitigating enemy shots at her, because opponent must decide whether he looses focus while attacking Jan, or shoots Rey instead.

I was thinking of Wired on Jan to synergies with her stress, but I guess that only works if she shoots second, though it can still be used on defense. I like the idea of stripping with TLT, even w/o HotCop. For some reason people hate that needle-y TLT damage and do whatever they can to avoid it. I may switch to predator now, good call.

I played against a similar list and did not like being in receiving end of Rey's 5-6 dice.

My opponent put Chewbacca and Hull upgrade on Jan to make her more Tanky.

Oh, I missed that about HSCP, I've only used it on Han...good call! I'd probably drop it to Recon Specialist, then, to get focus for both TLT shots and maybe an occasional focus to evade.

Yeah, I think that's the list on some tourney video that my buddy saw...he was the one who brought the list to my attention because I'm such a Rey fan. I'm not sure of that 7 points is worth the investment, though. Essentially it gets you 3-4 hit points. One extra hull, discard one damage and heal another via a shield regen, which could potentially block a crit. Upon a days reflection, I'm less enamored with the idea.

3-4 hit points for 7 squad points is a good investment IMO. Here was my list:

(100)

Rey (59) - YT-1300
Expertise (4), Finn (5), Kanan Jarrus (3), Millennium Falcon (1), Tactical Jammer (1)

Jan Ors (41) - HWK-290
Predator (3), Twin Laser Turret (6), Chewbacca (4), Hull Upgrade (3)

that sproably close to the one you referenced. I did have Wired on Jan until you convinced me otherwise.

Hmm...I like that, too. I guess it really comes down to how long we need Jan to survive to gain the upper hand, right? Your list definitely makes her more survivable, which is probably the way to go. There aren't a whole lot of ships that they'll be able to burn through in the first rounds, after which Jan would probably be hurting. Assuming a 2-3 ship opposing list, this one really needs to take out one of the ships before Jan goes down, preferably the most dangerous target. Rey can do some work, but if she's in a situation where she's being focused, she's in big trouble.

I do not get inertial dampeners on the build though. It is a turn where you are stressed, have no actions and no expertise. Then I would rather bump to be honest.
The new FAQ cleared up all the stuff about Kanan Jarrus' effect and inertial dampeners/daredevil.

A guy from our local group played a similar list with recon + moldy crow on Jan + trickshot. A fun combo, where he would throw 4x2 dice through obstacles, while having 6+ focus at his disposal.

If I were to play this list I would do something like this:

The engine upgrade is in my opinion much better than a countermeasure/ inertial dampeners.

Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
Finn (5)
Kanan Jarrus (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Millennium Falcon (TFA) (1)

Jan Ors (25)
Trick Shot (0)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Recon Specialist (3)
Moldy Crow (3)
