Giving up on Keyan... help me use Nera

By RittsMJ, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I've been trying to make a competitive list using at least 1 bwing. I tried lots of things with Keyan and have come to the conclusion that even if I can consistently get 3 (4 at R1) hits it's not good enough given how fast he dies.

I'm now moving on to Nera. I want to use APT because a 35ish pt ship has to have punch. What else do I pair with her? Here's my first thought:

B-Wing: · Nera Dantels (26)
Deadeye (1)
Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)
Extra Munitions (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
HWK-290: · Kyle Katarn (21)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Recon Specialist (3)
-- TOTAL ------- 65p. --

The idea is to use Kyle to give Nera a focus to make APT hurt. What should I use to fill out the list?

The trouble is, your opponent will see Nera coming a mile a way and will do everything in their power to keep out of range 1. If this is the way you want to go though, drop guidance chips. The APT doesn't need it if you have a focus token to spend to convert the "3 blanks to eyes" to hits. Take the B-wing title and Recon specialist crew. That will give you 1 focus to shoot and 1 to convert eyes to hits. Kyle wont be needed.

If you want to really hit hard, take Jan to add 1 more die to the APT attack.

Okay. Deadeye and Nera go together well. Guidance Chips and Extra Munitions also leverage advantages; the B-Wing is one of the few models that can use the 'turn-to-crit' clause of GC.

But APT is horrible . Remember, you have to SPEND your Focus like a Target Lock, meaning all of those eyeballs are now useless! Yes, you're trying to mitigate it with Kyle, but that's a super-frail two ship combo that takes up half of your list. On top of that, Nera's low PS means that she'll never get the chance to maneuver into range of almost any target.

That fits perfectly the definition of 'jank'.

My thoughts on Nera are using her as a mobile ace hunter and stresser with a HUGE target painted right on her. Flechette Torps hit Defenders, Protectorates, TIE/SF, brobots, Inquisitor, Corran, and more with stress they can't dodge , some of which use PTL as standard, and with the new update to the x7 title that stress is awful for Defenders. Extra Munitions lets her fire twice, GC gives her an auto-crit mod, and Deadeye is obvious. For 31 points you've got a decoy model that many lists HAVE to get off the table or be crippled for vital turns.

At 33 points, Proton Torps make her pretty lethal with a double mod, and if you're facing a lot of big ships *cough*YV-666*/cough* Plasma Torps can melt shields away like butter for your cleanup crew.

But I don't play filthy Rebel scum. I'm just trying to say what I'D hate to see on a Nera Dantels across the table.

Can you fit Dutch into the build? Then he can pass her a target lock as well... and you basically have 3 360 ships ... ion torps are my favorite on her ..
