Themed Imps: Battle-Group Relentless

I'm pretty new to the game having only played one real battle and I'm looking for some help and advice. I have a semi themed ISD & 2 VSD list but needs some work.

Only real restrictions are i don't want to use Gladiators as i dont really like them, just personal preference or bounty hunter 'scum' as want it to be a pure Imps fleet.

I'm open to ideas modifications and suggestions. Lack of fighter support and defense is an issue.

Just a quick suggestion on squads: if you cannot keep Mauler moving with Intel or Chiraneau, I would rather take something else. Ciena and Valen are incredibly resilient to disrupt enemy bombers. Or just take more generic squads, you have the activations.

Personally I don't like the gunship VSD setup. I feel that Gunnery Teams often does not do enough with the three swingy red dice, and rather take something to make the attacks more reliable, like DTT or Needa-TRC.

What set up for the second VSD would you suggest? I have been looking at Chiraneau to keep him moving and giving splash damage to others. Sorry I'm pretty new so which Intel do you mean?

Chiraneau is too expensive for Mauler alone anyway, but if you want to keep your three star destroyers there are not enough points to get a full bomber wing going unless you are willing to strip the ISD down...

Intel is be the squad keyword that comes with the Jumpmaster and HWK in Rogues&Villains which you did not want to use for this fleet.

Just some ideas:

You can outfit the gunship VSD with Ordnance Experts and Dual Turbolaser Turret, which is a setup I like a lot. That gives you enough points to take Ciena, Valen, Soontir, and Zertik for a decent squadron defense, but with zero bid.

Or get both VSDs into a hybrid role, Skilled First Officer and DTT on both and just 6 regular TIE Interceptors.

Also, maybe think about your choice objectives. Most wanted can really burn you with your expensive ships.

Thanks I'll have a look and see what i can do about the squardons and VSD set ups. What Objectives would you suggest?

I would suggest dropping both Mauler and Howlrunner and bringing in Ciena Rey and Saber Squadron. That is 4 Interceptors, one of which always has the obstructed rule and tokens the other has 4 dice, blue snipe. As speed 5 Interceptors, you also have great reaction range.

I would also swap Most Wanted for Close Range Intel Sweep or Targeting Beacons, both of which work well with this list.

Beyond that it looks solid.

Are Ciena and Saber sqd and those objective missions in the Corellian conflict expansion?

Do you have any suggestions for the second VSD build. Thinking Dual Turbo Turrets at the moment.

Id switch out the 'gunnery' Victory for an Arquitens, probably with DTT and RBD. Nets you 23pts. You could squeeze in a comsnet Gozanti into the list at that point for the extra activation, or you could switch out Mauler for a third interceptor *28pts* and then invest in Morna Key as a high HP rogue to really soak up some damage. Shes the same speed as your Victory aswell, which is handy.

I do like the Arquitens Light cruiser and my do that in the future but want to stick to the ISD VSD theme at the moment as it's what I've got so far, with that in mind how would you modify the second VSD? I'm thinking drop gunnery and take Dual TT. I will look at Morna Kee later on but didn't want to buy a pack for just one ship, Squadron or card at this stage. I'd like to use more fighters in the set if possible. (tie Adv, Interceptors, Bombers etc)

Don't use most wanted unless you are running a super small ship like a flotilla or raider. Can cost you as many points as you earn with that one

Think about changing the Liason for a Support Officer. It is one point more and single use, but it is more flexible and you do not need a token to use it. You do not have a way to generate tokens, which means you will propably not be able to use the Liason more than once anyway.

What mission from the primary 4 would you suggest instead of Most Wanted. I can see your point indeed.

I did look at support officer as thought it would be useful to scrap command mid way to adapt.

Would a 4point bid then be enough or would it then be worth just going to 400pts flat?
