What's the purchase plan?

I'm going to get one core, and then one each of the announced expansions for whichever faction I decide on. I will also probably get the infantry command expansion for the other faction so there are a couple of upgrades available.

I hope you don't need to get the other faction command because FFG said that they will be making it so the upgrades from the command if they are generic will be present in both factions...

I'm really curious to see if the upgrade cards are like x-wing or armada.

The best offhand example is Armada. The Pelta has flechette torpedoes, but the Pelta is a rebel ship. Flechette torpedoes work best on the raider, an imperial ship. So now i need to a)ebay or b)buy a pelta, even though i play mainly imperials.

Translate that to RWMG, now I have to possibly buy 4 factions of plastic to get the good cards that best applied cross faction.

I'm going to drink too much, in a moment of weakness order at least one of everything, have instant pangs of regret, then forget that regret and get all excited when the boxes show up at my doorstep.

So yeah, Standard Operating Procedure for most of my FFG purchases.

It occurs to me that I could convince my warhammer playing brother in law to get on the bandwagon. Then with any luck he'll buy his own set and who knows, maybe my two friends I'll be primarily playing with will start to buy their own set as well so I don't have to buy everything. :P

or to buy "anything" if they are kind enough to offer the entire range for your many non-birthdays :D

The brother in laws tend to send me Imperial Assault goodies for my birthday. :)

Two starters, one of each expansion announced so far (i.e., two full armies)

Splitting two starters, one to two of each expansion for the one army I choose, Uthuk will be my second army

I'm in the" 2 cores, then 1 of everything camp" for now. Once we have more than 2 factions released that may change but we'll see.

My purchase plan are now up in air.

CMON just announced the song of ice and fire tabletop miniatures game (kickstarter Q3 2017). Now I'm torn between the two, guess I'll wait until Q3 before deciding if I'm going to buy runewars.

man that is a series I like a lot that I have no interest in playing as a table top game...

Hopefully I can find someone to split my core with and focus on a single faction to play.

I thought FFG had the AGOT license to make games. Interesting, I'll have to check that out on kickstarter.

Well FFG does boardgames, the Song of Ice and Fire game will be a tabletop miniature game .

This could be really interesting, I might also wait to see how those 2 games shape up before investing.

Might want to wait till it hits retail sometime mid next year (or later) before looking into it. I'm sure it will be overfunded. By then, Runewars will have the four base factions and a good number of expansions out.

Then again, they could be two totally different scales (more like number of figures), mechanics, and target markets.

Right forgot CMON has to Kickstart everthying they do, would be nice if they just released one game normal with out tons of KS exklusives.

So mabye I will get a Runewars core set to test + paint and then wait for the Song of Ice and Fire game.

Miniatures for the GoT game aren't inspiring from the concepts that were shared at GAMA. I've sworn off most CMON stuff because of the constant Kickstarting.

Runewars is a more fantastical fantasy universe that I like a bit more, so I'm probably not their target market anyway

What I tell myself: Sensibly collecting one faction with only the expansions I need, then a second once the second wave factions hit.

What will happen: Buy all the things.

With news of the new factions hitting this year, I think I probably won't be picking up any expansions for Daqan or Waiqar, but my plan to have a starter army for each faction looks like it will happen sooner rather than later.

already pre-ordered two starter sets and the future plan is to buy one of every expansion box for both factions, then play and tweak and see where i want to stress my build on and order more if required

I've went from 'I'll collect the starter factions and Uthuk Y'llan when they come out' to 'if I get the Elves as well I could play 2v2...'

Ah you are at the rationalizing stage of wargaming!

Who knows what excuse I'll use when the Orcs and Dwarves arrive. Maybe I'll need more options so we aren't the same faction each time? :P

lol Well I think you will have plenty of time to come up with an excuse...

Do you have alink? If only seen that multi base + one figure. And it is said that Darksword Miniatures are doing those miniatures and their minis aren't to bad. But yes Runewars is probably more fantastic.

I feel like a lot of major game companies abuse Kickstarting...CMON could easily launch the game with out it...but also if this game were to feel like a song of fire and ice most of the time you will have grey humans fighting gold humans fighting red humans fighting green humans, wildlings wouldn't work to well in organized battles and Whites and Whitewalkers would destroy anyone they came across if they were represented as they are in the books...you kill 30 whites and the white walker in the back just raises all of your guys they killed...
