I think they want to keep the rules as streamlined as possible so I doubt they are going to put any more restrictions on list building then already present with the unique rule.

Then they wouldn't have put in such detailed rules on list building in Armada, and limiting the amount of admirals you could have. I bet if there are rules for hero limitations it will be 1 per 200 points or so.
"You can only take one Hero per army" doesn't exactly qualify as over-complicated, IMO.

definitely not compared to the old WHF structure with % and such or the army structures organization chart nonsense in 40k. It would be as complicated as warmachine's you need a warcaster.
Edited by jekBut in Warmachine if you assassinate the warcaster/warlock you win the game. I don't think Runewars going to have an equal mechanic. I don't see why you couldn't build a heroless army in Runewars. It would be like flying a squadron of ties without Howlrunner, or running generic Y-Wings with upgrades instead of putting in Biggs or Han or someone named to 'diversify your list'.
really everything is just speculation until we see the rules. we could be able to field none, one, or 5 heroes or have required heroes. we just dont know. now bring on the rules!

I wasn't saying that I wanted a casterkill mechanic I was just saying a required unit doesn't necessary create a difficult list building mechanic. I think it will depend on how they want to go thematically, x-wing doesn't need a general because you have advanced communications devices linking ships to superiors for commands and such, Runewars may because you would actually have some superior officer present leading the groups of soldiers. Once again this is just speculation based on taking the listing building far to serious and such...

Armada does require a fleet commander and the games doesn't end if he or she is destroyed with their ship. Instead, your opponent just gets the point value.

none isn't actually a possibility at this point

and rules or not, I bet our community won't resist trying a full heroes party against an army of desperate (or not) workers on strike (yeah, we skeletons and spearmen have enough of being butchered all over again for the glory of a fckng shining asshol* who does nothing but parading like a President of the US (and of any country in the world). I'll try it even if it is just a dead end. always cool to try it out !

have they mentioned anything saying a hero is required?

I believe he meant to say that *requiring* you to field none isn't possible simply because they exist, whereas you were trying to say that they may not require you to take heroes at all.

In Runewars the general is you and the dials your couriers.
