Dashing Norra or Dashing Miranda?

By gennataos, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've had the YT-2400 for a while, but haven't flown it. Today is the day! The question is, do I go with something which is fairly prevalent in the current meta (Miranda) or not (Norra)?

I prefer the Miranda list. She is fun to play with Dash and has the option to slip away and regen shields. Plus BOMBS are the best part of this list. People love to chase Miranda. Bomb's Away! Your list looks like a fun list to fly. Only thing I would change is Rey Crew for Hon Solo but that's purely based on my personal preference. Have fun man!

just food for thought, EMP will hit dash also when you use it and won't help much to clear your donut hole if they are generally pointing the same direction.

Even worse, EMP is used instead of attacking. Not a big deal when you are talking about a cheap support ship but rather more significant when you are dealing with >50% of your list.

If you want something to protect your doughnut hole then Hotshot Blaster might be better.

My head says the Miranda list but my heart belongs to Nora. I have had fun flying her lately.

Ultimately, I would plump for Miranda. Her bombs can threaten the kind of slippery aces that would spoil Dash and Nora's day I think.

I really like Norra, God help me, even in a 2-ship list.

If the only shot Dash would have would be with a throw away 3-point, 3-die attack, then I'd much rather have the EMP. There's no way I'd drop CM for EM, so Hotshot Blaster is just too expensive. The EMP is a great deterrent (or surprise), my opponent can't just blindly dive into the doughnut, they have to consider where they may end up the turn after if they're ionized. I played a game last night with the Dash/Norra list, it works well and also sets up Norra to pounce if done with some planning.

Yeah, I've used the EMP with Ahsoka a lot. You certainly have to consider when to use it. I figure if I've put Dash in a position where a ship is behind him at range 1 and would be headed in the same direction, then I've probably already failed.

As I mentioned above, I did get in a game with the Norra version. It's hard to get a good read, because my friend was running some more experimental stuff (bomber Kath with Whisper). He conceded after Kath was killed, having not flown all that great. Poor Kath never got off a shot, Dash had lost a shield or two, same for Norra (but had regenned them). Whisper tried to get into Dash's doughnut, but couldn't predict where he'd be between that crazy dial and barrel rolling, so any time Whisper did get in close, it would be a bump. EMP and next turn Whisper is floating away without a shot, Dash is floating away to get into range 2 and Norra is diving in from the flank. Like I said, though, I can't really take much from this game, though...sub-optimal opposing list flown sub-optimally due to my opponent being unfamiliar with it. It did make me consider Tail Gunner over C-3PO, though. C-3PO really isn't great if Norra is getting focused, which she would. It only saves you, potentially, one damage per round. That's amazing end game, less so if you have a bunch of ships after you.

I really want to try out the Miranda version, but I think I need to get a good 4-5 games with this Norra version so I can have a baseline for comparison.
