The Berserker Genome

This Race specific Tech for the Sardak Norr, says that after the first round of combat you roll a die for eachh casualty. Does this include any pre-first round casualties such as from Anti-Fighter Barage or Assault Cannons? It would undoubtedly make it a little better, but I think the wording does exclude this.

My gut reaction would be that pre-combat casualties are lost by the time this ability takes effect. I've been wrong about such things before, but I agree the wording seems to indicate it affects casualties taken in combat, and pre-combat effects are not actually part of the combat itself.

The answer doesn't matter because nobody should ever buy berserker genome.

Me and my friends played one game where one of 4 races was Sardak Norr. Well...couse we thought about berserker genome and have a discussion how's that technology are to expensive (6 resources ) and for that prise is usless. SO!! We discided to have a little modification happy.gif We only replace that "in first round of combat" with "every combat round". It's a house rule but it;s a **** good house RULE! Let me see.....too expensive,not worth buying only for a first round of combat..yes,yes it is every biginning of combat.But what if you miss EVEN if you roled 10 dices??? Every else racial tech have constant effect,and u can see that those effect are doing something,damage,movement,more ground troops(converting,translocate-shuttles),more cash,and so on....but berserker genome is the only racial tech who can have (constant) miss!!! You can buy that tech and throught whole game miss every one dice in that first round in witch tech have effec,it's happend in more games that we played ! Think about that guys...It's not that powerfull,really it's not. You only have to try play one game with that modification,that we make...and see that this tech have slight more effect with Sardak Norr. Have a nice game guys!

Or if you think that this modification is too powerfull,just correct text and make it posible only for "Capital Ships" to do a double damage only on '0'(zero) in every combat round .

We use to modify that Race Tech... And it goes like this: "Whenever your units score a 0 (zero,natural) in Space or Invasion combat,that unit score a Critical hit,making 2 hits instead of 1"

FIRST - Cost stay the same and is not that powerful,as u may think.

SECOND - Most of the people will go for War Sun with Sardakk....but....I tried this modification.

THIRD - You can buy Berserker Genome as your 1st tech and your are more than ready to start invasion of your neighbours.Leaving you a chance to go different way for Tech Tree (XRD,Stasis,and so on)

This modification is tested hundreds time...its ok,not powerful

...or you can use Shattered Ascension variant: "At the end of any combat round in which you scored at least one hit, automatically inflict an extra hit on the opponent"
