Has anyone used this combo yet? Is this a legal move?
I've been playing around on a the fleet builder and it seems entirely possible to drop 3 fighters and a ship out of hyperspace exactly where you need them using a couple of VCX100s to move the drop points, then activating RLBs drop an additional 3 fighters into place (and depending on rulings perhaps attack with them right away)
This is the fleet I built around this idea (and the other objectives are just as cruel if used right).
Hope that they see hyperspace assault as the least threatening, as it's the only one where I cannot gain victory tokens.
Deploy ships sparsely, (try to keep Yavaris out of range until round 5-6)
Deploy the VCx100s with an x-wing for escort
RLBs Luke, Biggs, and the HWK through the Pelta.
Then choose thePelta, YTs and extra x wing for the hyperspace assault.
Use the VCX100s to move tokens into place, drop the pelta and yts, then drop luke biggs and the HWK , use Yavaris and relay to let luke attack 3 times a round, obviously other bombers should attack too.
Thoughts?
Rapid Launch Bays and Hyperspace Assault
Yup, it's legal. Just resolve RLB's "before deploying fleets" effect before HA's.
And also bear in mind that you can't guarantee that the first player will pick that objective. Your ships like their forward arcs and aren't exactly the most maneuverable things in the world. In this setup I would probably pick Superior Positions.
Edit: also, TRC has a bit of anti-synergy with Sato. You are replacing two reds with blacks (ideally) on Yavaris, so there's only one die to possibly change with TRC. I like Spinal Armaments on a neb under Sato personally. Also salvation, but I see what you are doing here and I like it. Maybe think about some B-Wings if you can though. Double tapping single red dice won't do all that much.
Edited by FatherTurinI have to agree with FatherTurin. I like Norra and b "wangs" (I'm from the south...lol) for the double tab and shield loss synergy.
Regarding your question of legality, yes RLB can be used on a HA ship dropping in(was recently mentioned in a side-track of another topic). however note that you are sacrificing even more squadron deployments which may hamper your deployment game early on and put u at a disadvantage. That aside, if the HA ship plans to do a pure bombing mission, it is more cost effective to deploy yavaris with raymus and 3 squads, as double shoot means those squads are worth 2 each for that round, and you do not need to reduce deployments. Otherwise if you are looking for greater fighter coverage then your strategy is quite useful, biggs makes full use of all those 6 squads by sharing their health around if attacked. I suppose then that your HA pelta is more of a multirole to be a general threat to opponent's ships?

Well if they don't pick that objective then I boost my pelta out as far as it can go, drop my squads and use relay with all of my ships to triple tap luke as much as possible and gain boat loads of victory tokens....
Yavaris is a must. No point in taking Luke if I can't make him hurt, and 3 attacks a round can be painful.
I took TRCs but I may switch to x-17s, although the alternate version of this drops gallant Haven from Hyperspace instead with ord experts and sato it could be fun
Yup... that and dropping Yavaris anywhere near an enemy sounds foolhardy when relay is on the table, even if I lose that first double shot from RLB dropping (it is still in debate if I'm correct?)

Yep - love this. See my post in the 'Relay' thread -
I originally tried a list similar to yours but didn't like the lack of non-squad firepower, so I plumped for an AF instead of the Pelta.
And Rieekan over Sato as things die fairly easily!

Yeah, I think I like the AF build better, plus I was able to take ordinance experts to get rerolls on the blacks Sato will give
