Good question. I am opposed to banning cards via rotation or outright black list. However such extreme actions make more sense in a physically distributed print format instead of an online digital format where you can change the values or interactions at any time and it will cover the entire range of the game. Personally I would like to see counter cards (i.e. Autothrusters) or pen and ink changes to the core rule mechanics much in the same way the decloaking nerf was done not by changing any pilot or upgrade cards but by changing the mechanics. Sure that can be just as a hassle but I find it is easier to make sure the rule book is up to date instead of checking to see which cards have been changed and how.
in a sense Emperor Palpatine is banned. The print version will no longer be allowed later this month. However you will still need him in order to prove that you have gone through the necessary measures of acquiring him via purchasing the Raider expansion pack or trading ect. However simply having him is not enough because now you will also need an errata printout. Basically all the errata cards have sort of become just like one of those new condition cards. Where you need two separate cards in order to equip one upgrade. However unlike the condition card upgrade which have both halves provided in the expansion pack the errata cards require the player to printout at their additional expense.
But yeah with the design space I see this video becoming more relevant than before.
