First Order and Resistance Ships worth it?

By Phoenix5454, in X-Wing

To start I usually play Scum. However looking at my collection I own at least one of every ship in the game EXCEPT: The first order ships and Resistance Ships (minus the TFA Core set) and I only own the Imperial Assault Carrier for Epic ships. I usually have turned to eBay when I want something out of an expansion pack but didn't want the whole thing example: Rebel Transport X-Wing, Imperial Raider TIE Advanced, Emperor Palpatine, C-3PO etc. you get the idea...

So, the question at hand, are the First Order and Resistance ships worth it? Its also worth noting that I have copies of Trick Shot, Snap Shot, Smuggling Compartment, Pattern Analyzer (For my Quad Jumper) M9-G8, Burnout SLAM, Hotshot Co-Pilot and Operations Specialist (love my eBay) which is sort of why i'm struggling with actually buying some of the expansions (especially Heroes of the Resistance) since I have the upgrades I want from them, it really just hinges on the ships and what lists can be built with them.

Out to you ladies and gentlemen :D

TIE/fo is great value for money. Omega Leader comes out of the box ready for action. Juke is a great upgrade on other ships too.

TIE/sf is a solid ship, and it got a boost from TIE Striker expansion's Lightweight Frame.

Upsilon is fun, but the points cost of building a good one is on the high side. Great upgrades in the expansion though.

T-70 Expansion is near useless in my opinion.

HotR has a lot of my bread and butter. Rey is a blast. PS9 Poe is my boy. Jess Pava is one of the best low-PS ships in the game.

HotR is great stuff for flying Rebels. If you like Rebels at all, the three things all rebel players need is Ghost, Kwing, and HotR (and cards if you're competitive, but casually these are all great!)

The standard FO blister pack is awesome with nearly everything you need for Omega Leader (and the two most important pieces anyway so you can fly him as-is out of the pack).

SF is a little unique, but I think it's worth it. If you only want to fly Imperial ships like Imperial ships, then you can skip this one too.

Upsilon is cool if you're not looking at it as a Palp carrier. If it's going to be your heavy artillery/support the aces then sure, but you're aces will need to be lighter than normal (maybe an x7 defender plus that shiny Omega Leader you just bought). I also think it would be pretty slick as the leader of a mini FO swarm.

So yes, I think the Resistance/First Order ships are largely worth it. You can skip the t70 expansion since HotR has the pilots you want and a T70 anyway.

Thanks for the input, still on the fence as SCUM is my go to faction.

T-70 expansion gives you the Targeting Astromech, which has some niche utility on Nien Numb (paired with Stay On Target and Pattern Analyzer) and Hobbie Kilvan, and Cool Hand (niche utility on Tomax Bren). Red Ace also isn't terrible with some jank builds. Unfortunately, everything that Ello Asty does, Nien Numb generally does better.

Heroes of the Resistance is pretty great value.

The Tie/sf is a lot of fun using accuracy corrector on it

Heroes of the Resistance and the TIE/FO expansions offer the best options for TFA era ships.

That said, Quickdraw (TIE/SF) is my current favorite pilot and boy can she do work. The slot combos help too.

For those who doubt the Upsilon run Stridan with Hux and System Officer. Add in 2 aces to taste (i like Vess and OL).

To answer the OP's question. For the most part the FO and Resistance stuff is not bad. Keeps getting better with the new Tech Upgrades.

The S/F is an awesome ship with a good dial, lots of upgrade slots- and a couple good builds for each of the ships.

BTW: Draw Their Fire on Quick Draw is a really interesting thing that people ought to try out.

If you're asking this question, the answer is: NO

I second the tie/sf, you should really try it, funniest ship of the bunch, quickdraw especially.
