The Miscatonic Museum - SPOILERS

By Daft Blazer, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

I've played it a few times now, and I still think it's pretty easy, and overall a bit of a disappointment, especially after the stellar quality of the Dunwich Legacy.

The Necronomicon though, are you burning, or keeping it? I've decided to burn it. My investigators are Roland and Ashcan, neither of which really benefit from it enough. The downside of the extra 'elder thing' chaos token just doesn't seem worth it? You're adding an extra, more or less, auto fail token to every skill check for 5 entire scenarios! I'm just wondering, if there is and major benefit, down the line, if you have the book........... We'll see ;)

I'll start up another campaign with different investigators and keep it ....... It'll be interesting to compare.

I'm keeping it. I imagine there will be something I could use it for later on... Like trade it for a professor!

I liked it, but I did find the Hunting Horror sufficiently simple to defeat I wondered if I was playing it right. The biggest difficulty I found was Beyond the Veil, and managing your remaining deck. That seemed to put a much tighter timeline on the game than the agenda deck. It wasn't as good as the first 2 Dunwich scenarios, but it's not my least favourite scenario. I also expect that the difficult might increase through the campaign.

Much as I agree with the disadvantage of the Elder Thing token, I've actually kept it for both pairs I'm playing...

  • Agnes and Zoey could really use +1 Intellect
  • Jenny and Daisy - Daisy could make very efficient use of the +2 resources ability, and is potentially intellect 7 at the moment. Also, the Old Book of Lore isn't working out well for her at the moment - Beyond the Veil keeps blocking that one.

I guess we'll see how bad a choice that was in time.

Agnes might have a hand to spare, but Zoey usually doesn't, and Jenny needs 2 hands for her signature guns.

Yes - it's the hand slot that really kills it for me, Roland, who could really use the +1resource can't afford to loose the hands slot, since he's carrying an encyclopaedia and a weapon.

i agree - the agenda deck does not exert much pressure, I usually find I'm running out of cards, which gives me the hurry up!

Although Essex County Express has a Guardian item card that will solve that problem. The Bandolier - uses the body slot and gives you an extra hand slot that you can use for a Weapon.

Spot on, this comment. My current Jenny deck has adaptable, so dropping my fifth non-rogue card for a bandolier might happen. Then Jenny starts to look scarily kitted out.

this game certainly gives you options!

I have started another campaign with Zoe and Daisy. They make a great pair! And Daisy really loves the Necronomicon, +1intellect, is great especially if you have Dr Milan out, investigating for 7 is too good, then with a tome action; 3 resources a round , wow, overpowered?
