Y'know you could've used a MUCH easier system to convert...D6 Space is Free on Drive-through...and has PSi-powers already...just sayin...8D

Last d6 system we used was The End of the World and we hated it because it was too simple...also my party refused to play themselves which made me very sad as it has been my dream to run my group through a "play yourself zombie campaign". Ill check out d6 space though.

I agree with that which is why I was thinking of allowing him to use computers instead of ranged light, but that idea was pretty thoroughly shut down and too power gamey.

Agreed that computers instead of ranged light might be a big power gamey. But I do Believe that using ranged light and adding a boost die for "beeing safe, remote controlling" could be appropriate. :)

Also why can't he hack into enemies equipment or weapons to be useful?

During a combat situation, most enemy equipment that is used in combat and most weapons are not going to be accessible through wireless (unless you like the idiotic SR5 rules) and you're probably not going to be able to handle the gear and plug into it while the user is actively using it.

WEG's D6 system is nothing like the EotW mechanics from FFG except that you are physically rolling the same type of dice.

The appropriate skill is gunnery. Gunnery covers things that are too large or complicated to be fired by holding, pointing and shooting the weapon yourself. Ranged light is for when you physically hold and point a pistol, heavy for those where you need to steady yourself and know how to handle recoil but still physical hold, aim and shoot.

It's gunnery.

Aye this actually; gunnery covers most indirect firing, opperating a camera and a gun on a small platform probably falls under that.

I am still not convinced a dedicated gunnery platform is the best thing for him; controlling recon remotes and the like sounds much more thematic for someone who isn't a combatant, with some basic sidearm training incase the worst happens. I don't believe that a character needs to be equally viable in every theater, his big thing is the intelligence he provides on these creatures so he already does the thing no one else can do. As crude as it is; he should simply bear with being drone less until he's acquired some experience.

I considered lots of different systems, including all flesh must be eaten, spycraft, GURPS, and shadowrun, but settled on this because 1. we are familliar with it and the group freaking loves this game and 2. it was such an easy fit, and a lot of other rules sets (*COUGH* SHADOWRUN *COUGH*) are just too...crunchy.

Its very much not ready for a once over yet(mostly a scribbled outline and notes of how things will line up, along with a bunch of reading at this point) but my personal project right now is actually to take the shadowrun setting and port it over into the FFG Star Wars system. Everyone in the group loves shadowrun but its too rules heavy for them, and they all like the SW system but a few of them aren't Star Wars fans(traitors!) so that seemed like a best of both worlds since the ShadowRun Anarchy rules didn't work real well for us.

I'll share as I get a little further along in the project, but trying to go as complete as I am even just the planning phase is taking some time. You aren't alone in this kind of thought though.

thats awesome. I've never played shadowrun personally but ive read the rules book. I love the narrative setting but when I was done I just put the book down and said "no this is not for us"...and I have always been the "rules shark" of the group (I'm recovering nicely).
