I write here, Off topic, because this post is of no interest to many players. The idea is simply to say what I and my group of pals think about the "Do it yourself" way to play X Wing.

As no interest in playing Tournament and quite experienced wargamers started our way to "adapt, improve, expand" the game after a couple of months playing. And it works fine. FFG is focused on Tournament players. No AAA Turrets, AT ATs menacing a Generator or Nebulas.

And the way of nerfing / balancing the game. Still no T 65 fix. No Y wing Rebel Pilot with EPT. Generic old Yt 1300 Pilot is a joke. Generic Lothal Rebel not. The breach between wave 2 Pilots and Wave 10 stuff is abysal.

So be not afraid. When you play with your friends adapt and improve. No need to wait for a new FAQ like mana from FFG unless you play Pro with Mr Nice Guy. Sometimes you will miss. No problem. Example.

Perhaps 24 months ago I wrote about our new Modification upgrade card. Not very imaginative... "Barrel Roll. Mod. Small Ship only. Add Barrel Roll to your actions. 3 pts". I was not sure about the cost. 2 or 3. Man, I was skinned. I tried to destroy the game and the like. 18 months later ARC hit the shelves...

After one play we restricted Zuckuss to 2 Stress or less to activate him. Never played pre nerf 3 U Boote simply because for us it was not Star Wars. Tie Advanced improved...prior to release of CR 90. Buffs to ordnance. C3PO cost up to 5 pts when he was one of the kings...

And Ground Strike scenarios. And Ice Asteroids, Ion Nebulas, Space Monsters and fly into a laberynth of caves. Simply took a large sheet of paper and draw the map.

So... Make this your game. Be imaginative. Try variants. Face down ordnance cards. Or EPT cards. Write your own EPT. Improve Expose or Opportunist. Try 600 pts scenarios if you can. Or 40 pts turboscenarios if you can not play 75 min in a row because you are father of 3.

To finish... If you play MMORPG you are a "consumer". You must wait no new fixes and expansions. With X Wing you can be creative. The Core Rules are so easy that you can go experimental quite easy. If you think TLT should be nerfed, and you play in a friendly environment, talk with your pals an nerf it. No need to wait.
