List building gets buffed. (Thread for looking forward POSITIVELY)

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing

I heard some news happened. so my favorite part of the game got buffed today.I am already swimming in the warm ,clear ,salty waters of list building. So far today I`m looking forward to running....

1.Brobots( I like fearlessness ,mangler, advanced sensors...hmm...thermal detonators! `cause...mindlink still going to rule the spaceways)

2.NEW PALP!- dormitz, hyperwave commscanner,pattern analyzer,kylo title,fire control system

-Wampa....I mean biggs...no..i mean wampa

- Echo- fire control rebel captive,ACD,VI ( maybe gunner in exchange for the fcs on the upsilon

3.Can`t beat `em join `em mindlink stuff- I don`t know what but....guri, fenn rau and probably palob or...still manaroo just to see what up with that barrel roll getting in close.otherwise the new party barge with zuckus and the recruit.

Now that the sky has fallen the skies are BLUE baby! What will you be knocking the cobwebs out of to build with?

TIE/Ds, hopefully! Now that x7 isn't automatically heads and shoulders above it, i wanna see where i can get with the Upsilon, Striker, and TIE/Ds. I've been having fun playing with Dutchess lately too. Maybe a 3-ship Ace build, Vessery, Dutchess, and.... something else, i dunno.

oooh triple aces! I never did get to do much `Soontir Fellin`. I think that wretched dark side condition might be a ball breaker though. but dang I`m gonna find out.

Honestly, x7 is still head an shoulders above most jousters. It just has counterplay now.

Uncertain, the future is.

I do think my Snap A-Wings like everything in that FAQ though. /x7, Fenn and Zuckuss were three really tough things to have to face.

Well x7s didn't get hit that hard. It is just now they don't get an evade token if they are already stressed or bump into something.

Palpatine is now more of design than a failsafe. He can't be used anymore just for when a roll goes bad. When you want to make an attack or make a dodge palp you just tap palp first before you wait for the results of the roll.

Zuckuss just can't tycho up on stress anymore. he can still work fine.

However Manaroo has been smashed by a sledge hammer. now that everyone has bought their second or third toilet seat FFG wan'ts those list like Partinni flushed down the toilet. I can see a lot of collections up on ebay soon.

None of my go-to Scum lists were directly hit with the nerf-bat, but if anything the nerfing of Defenders & Manaroo has only made my 3 lists all the better, comparatively. Match-ups that were nearly lethal are a bit easier now.

Yeah, x7s got better because they'll be more fun to fly, your opponents won't complain as much, and all the lazy players looking for something easy will play something else.

I think x7 is still hugely good, but where previously you were best with a few big hitting ships against it you're now quite good with a lot of little ships to bump them up. They aren't invalidating like 1/2 of the ships in the game.

Was quite upset with how far they nerfed manny. Should have been at least R2 imho. R1 just seems...quite excessive. Kinda like a 'KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!' scenario.

I wanna hear about the TieD lists!

Is Vessery VI Tractor worth it? Will you have a darn hard time vs PS9 aces?

I'm looking forward to building Rebels again without feeling depressed. R3-A2 and Tactician actually matter again!

Vessery VI Tractor is good against PS9 if you can keep them out at range 3, or even range 2, where it is hard for them to boost/barrel out of your arc. If you can get shots on them, then their high PS works to your advantage. After they shoot, then you get to tractor them into a closer range band for Vessery and his buddies to wreck them. You defend at range 3, but attack at range 2.

Ion Cannon and unpreventable 'Fanatical Devotion' from Hux?

Wait, are you on to something here???

I do actually prefer the Ion Cannon, personally. Never was a big fan of Tractor Beam. it's great, but Ion Cannon has control in it plus the extra oomph of damage that can really make a difference and i value that.

I used to play a TON of Vessery/Inquisitor/Omega Leader, but the rise of the toilets and /x7 put an end to that pretty quick. That list is a lot of fun, requires a lot of precise maneuvering and decision making, as well as prioritizing with Omega Leader. I've got a pretty decent record with it. Thinking about how i could shake it up, though, as that's all Wave 7/8 stuff.

Maybe... Vessery w/ TIE/D, Ion Cannon, VI, and TIE Mk.II; Dutchess with VI, title, and Engine Upgrade, and Commander Alozen w/ VI, title, ATC, Engine Upgrade? Sounds fun.

Yeah I know that list, but it was really tier2 compared to the monsters at the time.

Also, this is sadly 1 point short: you really want baffle and Major Stridan for range coverage, but alas. =(.

And vessery at PS8 with OL

Colonel Vessery (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tractor Beam (1)
TIE/D (0)

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

Starkiller Base Pilot (30)
Electronic Baffle (1)
General Hux (5)

Total: 99

My gears are grinding on some combination of Snap Shot/Tactician Major Rhymer zapping people with stress, then Ioning them with a TIE/D, maybe being fed by Operations Specialist on Rhymer. I'm not there yet, though. It's not falling into place, so far. A properly positioned Snapshot/Tactician Rhymer shuts down x7 Evades, Zuckuss, most Target Lock based Alpha Strikes, Kylo crew, and multi-stresses Parattani. His worst matchup is Dengaroo, and it's very close to dead. There's still a lot left to figure out, but I'm very intrigued.

Only problem is it leaves your Defender with literally zero defensive modifications.

I love that the erratas not only promote list building because of the changes, but also because now no popular list is safe. If you are netlisting, you never know when a FAQ will drop which destroys that list. So, for the good of all of us, always fly something original, every time. Then, they wont nerf anything! But, if you succumb to netlisting, FFG will grab your list and throw it out the window right when you need it most. :P

Yep, which is why I'm trying to convince other people to play it!

;-)

Captain Kagi, Tractor Beam, General Hux = 33

Delta Squadron Pilot, Ion Cannon = 33

Delta Squadron Pilot, Ion Cannon = 33

Hux gives everyone a Focus, puts Fanatical Devotion on the Lambda, which makes a likely un-dodged Tractor Beam hit. The Deltas then each put down a couple of shots to ionize and damage whatever you hit with the Tractor Beam.

This may sound a little unorthodox, but what about Tactical Jammer on the Upsilon? Fly Vessery behind it at Range 3 and he rolls 5 defense dice, possibly helping him out from the fact that he has no defensive mods.

Even at Range 2 it's still 4 defense dice, and no matter what the Tractor Beam is ALWAYS hitting. So if you ARE at Range 3, you boost them into Range 2 after you hit them with the Tractor, and you wallop them with your primary.

Any special reason for using Kagi?

For giggles, you could swap one Ion for a Flechette. Then you get the Tractor/Stress/Ion triple threat.
