Oh geeze, I love this list. Okay, so I flew three lists last night...
What I call classic: Jan/Jess/GSP/GSP - tabled Fenn/bumpmaster squared. He was silly and put Fenn at R1 of the A-Wings and Jess. Fired on Jess, missed, A-Wings fluffed, but then Jess threw 7 dice, hit hit hit crit crit crit crit. evade, eye, blank, title. used his focus, still took 4 crits, 2 double damages. Thats one dead Fenn
Wookie version: Low/Jess/GSP/GSP - vs Scum Nym and friends - I lost, but it was close. I kept bumping with the wookie which was a grave mistake. Put Jess on a rock a couple of times...which is very odd for me. I'm usually very good around the rocks.
Nym/GSP/GSP vs a unique Rebel tank list - tough one. I thought I could get him, but being my first time out with Nym he was largely ineffective. The GSP's, even snap/junking are largely ineffective against Lowwhrick. I took down Jess, got his ARC down to 3 hull, but in the end it wasn't enough.
I think for the "Classic" version I fly, jousting scum or imperial lists are going to die, and they usually do. My highest win rate is against Scum lists that do not have tractobeam jank going on. Imperial lists can't survive the sustained fire.
But, bombs, TLT, autoblaster, tractorbeams are not good matchups at all. I really want to fly against FSR because I have no idea how it would do. I know I could out maneuver it quickly.
another variant I'm going to try is using a ion/stress hog as a support ship, which gives me the ability to put thrusters on both A-Wings. The list will play slower until engagement, but I think the control element will be a decent threat against Nym and Miranada. Maybe even Dash... It will also soak the damage up while I can get in my 5-6 die attacks with Jess...
That fourth ship really changes how the list plays and can make or break the matchup I think. So far, I stand behind Jan being the best option.
@Wiredin - Nice! You've not flown my Ahsoka variant yet? I want your feedback on that! I'm still debating dropping the EMP on Ahsoka for Autothrusters on Jess. I rarely make a profound impact with the EMP, but it's hard to just how much that impacts my opponents decision making. It's kind like with the Snap Shots in the first place...you could go a whole game which barely any Snap Shot opportunities, but how often does that area control impact their decisions?

Unfortunately I didn't have time to change up my game day kit in the past week or so, hopefully will before next week. I'm trying to decide on a list for an upcoming non FFG premier event, so I want to give it a whirl soon!

Your Jan list definitely looks to have more punch, but I wonder if Operations Specialist plus Ahsoka handing out actions might make up the difference.

What do you put on Jan? Do you sacrifice autothrusters on GSPs to put something on her ship?

I tried Roark with Ops spec and Roark just died a fiery terrible death very quickly. I don't know why but Jan always survives longer, or doesn't get focused. But with ashoka's captured tire I think she may work out better.

Jan - Dorsal/Trickshot/Nein Numb
GSP - Snap/Juke/title/refit (x2)
Jess - R2D6/Swarm Leader/IA
edit: I keep swapping between Trickshot/Adaptability.
I setup Jess and the a's in an arrow formation on the board edge. I face Jan into the formation to turn in behind. usually keeping her around R3 of Jess until combat starts. I try to setup a rock at R2 from the bottom edge and R3 from the outer edge on both of my corners (so I can setup on either side) and then hopefully create a diagonal lane through. I use large rocks/debris always. I will either try to joust or I'll go into the rocks and try and setup ambushes. Jan becomes my primary "blocker" while the A-Wings do area denial and Jess tries to find optimum positioning. Trying to at least stay in R1 of one ship. The formation usually splits up after the first pass.
The problem is over committing to early I find.
Edited by Wiredin@gennataos what about ditching EMP for Pattern on Jess? I don't know about you but I like using that a lot, and every time I wish I had a bloody focus token or a boost!

That could be fun too. Potentially gives Jess another Evade to pick from and still gives the ops spec benefits. I believe you can intensity an Evade and then take an Evade action. so you can steal the evade with Jess if an A-Wing is out of position or didn't take an evade for whatever reason, and still have an evade for defense!

That's also something I've considered. I've also considered Scavenger Crane to reacquire Captured TIE when Ahsoka attacks. She's generally only going to attack when there's a kill shot possibility (or an imminent death on my side). I really need to just fly the list as is a lot more and get a vibe for the value of EMP before I make any decisions on where to spend those 2 points if I drop it.

I do love Intensity Sabine, but I feel at PS5, she'll just get herself blown out of the sky entirely too early to be useful. With Ahsoka in this list, I probably take an evade more than a focus for Jess to pull off for Swarm Leader, relying on Operations Specialist to get focus tokens handed out.
@gennataos So I was theory crafting your idea of using ops spec with the a-wings and a Tie Fighter... and I thought of something:

I'm going to try it tomorrow. This could be really, really scary... in fact this could be the scariest way to do this! In theory you could launch a total of 27 dice during the combat phase not including the snap shots or tie fighter shot (and hopefully your keeping Sabine far enough back she cannot be a legal target). Use the snap shots in the initial pass to charge the A-wings so you have focus/evade (don't use Juke in the movement phase), launch prockets and Jess's attack. Should be able to kill anything that is stupid enough to joust you...
I'll bring both tie-fighter variants out for game day tomorrow night and let you know how it goes. I'm excited.
That looks awesome, @Wiredin! I'm looking forward to hearing about it. You're going to have to be really careful with Sabine to keep her in OS range, but also not get nuked!
Based on this and another thread I read a couple days ago I'm going to try it with this:
Jess Pava (29) R2-D6 / Swarm Leader/ IA
X2 GSP (20) Snap / Test Pilot / Crack Shot / Chardaan
Braylen Stramm (31) M9-G8 / Weapons Engineer / Alliance Overhaul
So stramm locks the As to give re-rolls to snap shot and the normal shot, everything else goes as has been discussed.

Could be very effective. I think once crackshot is gone you may find the A-'s not being able to deliver tho. I noticed it was a lot harder to push damage through with my A-Wings in my 4 procket list.
Report back and let us know how it goes! This is a really fun list with tons of ideas for a fourth support ship, and that fourth ship really changes how the list flies.

fudge... it doesn't fit!
Could you imagine tho?!?!?! Snap shot, get focus tokens, then Roark puts an A-Wing to PS12, Procket attack, next A-Wing chains off - Procket attack, Jess chains off next - 6 dice attack @ R1! all before anyone else gets to shoot. Now thats an alpha strike!

Drop Jess and add another Procket A wing.
Ran my Procket/Sabine version twice last night, didn't have enough time to get try the other list because work kept me back a bit....
first game: Nym/Sol/Point Veteran - odd list, but Nym is an huge jerk. I got Sol off the board pretty quickly. The snap only missed once the whole round to give the focus, but luckily it was when Sol was in R1 of the flight and well..yea no more bomber. The Point Vet died soon after. Came down to a 1 health A-Wing vs Nym with 3 health.... and yea, game loss.
second game: Miranda/Nym in a neutered list that was very effective. Nym/TLT/Expertise/Sabine/Bomblet and Miranda/TLT/Bombadier/EM/Cluster Mines and other junk was pretty good. He got me a slam that brought Jess down to 1 health. Jess still did some damage, but he was good at dancing around me. Game ended with Miranda 2 health 1 shield, 4 health on Nym. I never got an alpha strike or a Procket off the whole game!!!! I lined up Miranda twice with the Prockets but he decided to slam out and not fire than get a rocket up the butt (good choice)

Yeah, sounds about right for our beloved A-Wings.
I wish so hard for a 1 hard. how many times I've died because I can't get the proper block or positioning done because the A-Wing is too **** fast!

The whole list archetype changed again by the fourth ship. 3 point bid was nice to help me keep initiative. A few locals have figured out that giving me initiative is usually not a good thing. This was interesting, and i'm going to ditch BLT next time I fly it because I needed the Y-wing to be more agile and still get shots off. There were quite a few times where I had something I NEEDED to shoot in arc, but couldn't shoot because of BTL. The stress tho was very very handy shut down expertise and forced some interesting decisions.
I had Dengar stressed and down to four health, still had my flight at full health minus 1 shield off Jess. Nym was off being stupid because I tricked him to think I was chasing Nym, but really setting up a trap for Dengar. I setup my A-Wings so they could snap him from the side if he did a green turn to the left, he would have bumped my lead A-Wing if he went straight 1-2. I had Jess in behind to attack if he ended up in either location. Planning phase seemed like it took forever. He plotted a right 3 hard landing him on a debris. However, my Y-Wing no longer hard Arc, but I could have gotten him if I had full range with my turret.
Nym ended up getting me in the end, Dengar was dead 2 turns later with 3 stress on him he was kinda fubar. I still can't figure out bombs... and AB/AC combo is so brutal....
Part of me wants to drop to crackshot to get AT on the A-Wings. At least it would help with turrets. However... I find Crackshot no where near as effective as Juke for the mid- late game. it really neuters the A-Wings if they don't have Juke. I'm also thinking Ion/R3A2/EU Y-Wing. But I haven't figured out my formation on this one yet... I'm thinking a reverse V with the Y-Wing slightly behind the A-Wings and Jess behind the Y. If one could stress/ion Nym he could probably get blown to pieces easily enough. and Engine Upgrade keep the Y-Wing in the game longer.

It's a little odd that it took me until last night to put this version on the table (I think others have flown it). For just about every list post I make, I say, "I'm going to try to make this my default go-to list", and never do it...some new shiny list idea pops into my head. Sooo...I'm going to try to make this my default go-to list!
I went against Fenn/Old Teroch/Lok Revenant (w/ Synced Turret!..?). I won on time, having taken out the Scurgg and Old T and lost one GSP with everyone else on fire. The obvious way to fly this is in a formation, but I've been trying to create intersection lanes of fire that criss-cross...and failing. I still end up with a giant furball with half of my ships not getting actions most of the time. That makes the Snap Shots less effective, the Jukes barely worth it and Swarm Leader rarely used. It's just too enticing to self-bump to create bumps on my opponent, etc. I think I need to show more patience...dash out after an engagement then re-converge.
@Wiredin - How do you approach engagements? What do you do afterwards?
