Who's the new hotness now?

By Blail Blerg, in X-Wing

While I'm very sad Palp got a really wonky nerf and defenders are kinda back to not that great again... Most of this stuff was the tier1 stuff by an obvious mile. (Only one thing I think got missed: Attanni).

So, let's get back to meta-ing again. =D

What's still good? What's still broken?

I think attanni mind link is going to still be darn strong (I think they shoulda nerfed that).

Ups shuttle with coordinate is looking like a good 30 pt support replacement. 31 pts with E baffle Imo is best.

I'm not so sure other large ships are that great in this meta atm as they were in Wave5.

Paratanni will still be good: Most good players know you have to bring manaroo into the fight. Though it will be obviously harder.

Come to think of it, yeah, this should actually be good for the meta.

Also, what things got adversely affected that were once possibly decent, but now really not that good?

Is the Party Bus still good after this?

(the Croc will still be good rofl)

Parattani is still gonna be a thing, but it'll be a bit more controlled now. Mindlink generally is still goign to be a thing, but ditto.

I think this probably balances the meta pretty well tbh.

Attani was broken because of manaroo primarily. Its not overly amazing w/o her, and her range1 limiter will heavily cut manaroo lists back.

x7s are still deadly. It did nothing to their casual play, it only removed their suicidal asteroid dives to chase people by taking the evade away (also blocking is more powerful). Defenders were never over the top powerful, even with x7, they were just far too reliable. This nerf makes them slightly less reliable, but only just.

I think a modified party bus with Dengar, Zuckuss, and inspiring recruit instead of 4-lom can still do work. Kinda limits you to two rerolls, but if you can keep on doing green moves then you can use it every turn and get your action.

I think more options for Mindlink will show up. Depending on how well Kylo RAC + Ace works out, Swarms could show up to contest that with other things now not working as well as they used to with these nerfs.

Attanni Mindlink with Zuckuss, Talonbane Cobra, and Fenn Rau. Slap K4 on Zuckuss and you can get three, fully-modded 5-dice attacks at range-1.

I've tried it. It's good, but not broken enough to become a thing.

Long live the stressbot!

Good Paratanni players will still do well. X7 defenders will still be good but the title is now better balanced against TIE/D. Palp will porbably still be able to find a home but won't be nearly as common.

Nothing that was strong for Rebels got touched. If pushing down the top Scum and Imperial lists don't cause something that wasn't getting played to come out on top the Rebel lists that were doing well should do even better.

also i kinda chuckled at the Kylo faq where if theres no pilot cards, well f off then you dont get jack lol. Maarek's ability being cancelled was expected and made the most sense.

This really makes me salty... If FFG is going to make massive nerfs, why couldnt they do it during Store Champ season or any time not right before a major tournament like Hoth or Worlds (jm5k)? This is honestly ridiculous. I spend 4 months preparing and $700 on hotel/entry fees and FFG has essentially made that all worthless, unless I can cram in some more practice in the 2 local game nights I have before Hoth...

X7's are still great. Triple X7's just got better post Palp nerf since there's now a big reason to choose that list over commonwealth.

Mindlink will still be quite good. Dengaroo will be dead, but honestly I've barely seen it lately.

I think ordinance lists that were already good just got better, since people will still run paratanni but have to fly closer together.

All in all, I don't think we'll see a huge shift in the meta right away, just likely some similar lists that are being shifted around with better ship options.

I do really like the idea now that blocking potentially got a huge buff. If you can shut down the free evades on X7's and make movement awkward for ships that want to stay close together, we could see a resurgence of swarms/mini swarms. I'd like that a lot.

Considering it went like 12-1 at Endor, only losing in the finals to yet another Parattani (after beating several others), the answer is clearly:

Two FCS B-Wings

Two Tracer Bandits

Stresshog

I don't know how we'll be able to beat this squad without Parattani to keep it in check.

The Era of Bunke-Wing is upon us....

Parattani is the new hotness. But yeah, long live Bunke-Wing. Wonder if the FAQ would have saved the final game for him?

A kind reminder that defenders were 3-4 points overcosted. And still not particularly mobile after x7. A top level match will attempt to bump those defenders quite often. I for one welcome 5 ship rebel swarm with Bs Zs and Ys back.

So, what else is good?

I'm seriously considering flying my Rhymer list now.

That's why I like the change, for the most part. It was frustrating that I would block a TIE Defender, but in the end that only hurt myself because I had one fewer attack with which to attack it and it got its evade token anyway.

Or drop LWframe and Comm scanner for Targeting Synchronizer.

Capable of 19 modified attack dice. =)

Well, now that contracted scouts are nerfed and Manaroo to r1 limiting things like Dengaroo maybe my guy Tel can get a little love and see some more table time?

Where do you see that he was dropped 3 points?

He wasn't. =). He's still bad, except for this one corner case! I won a match vs a 120 point game like this, vs two other players 60pts each. granted, they were fooling around a bit too. But the list was much better than expected.

Rhymer could stand to be dropped even like 4 points. But 3 is probably fair. Wow. That would be SO good!

(Might be also cuz I'm very used to flying these ships. )

I see more ISYTDS being played now... small ships hate that thing.... Even my Han died incredibly fast once he got reduced to PS0.

A wing and tie swarms will strike back

and any new swarms
