woooo the meta got nerfed

Yeah this basically kills the meta, it's crazy! I like it!

FFG designers read the boards.

am not sure if i gona be sad or happy :o

if they read the boards manaroo wouldnt be range1. I dont think ive ever heard that as a suggestion, range 1-2 at the worst.

Except for the random palp in the deci stuff i do somethings this faq basically doesnt touch me one bit. And im still upset at some of the changes lol

I can taste the salt already haha.

Ouch. New meta once again will be tested by Worlds, lol, since regionals will be over.

Range 1-2 would kill Dengaroo...maybe they wanted to make Paratanni a pain to run, too?

Manaroo: “At the start of the Combat phase, you may assign all focus, evade, and target lock tokens assigned to you to another friendly ship at Range 1.

Palpy: Once per round, before a friendly ship rolls dice, you may name a die result. After rolling, you must change 1 of your dice results to the named result. That die result cannot be modified again.”

X7: “After executing a 3-, 4-, or 5-speed maneuver, if you did not overlap an obstacle or ship, you may perform a free evade action.

Zuk: When attacking, if you are not stressed, you may receive any number of stress tokens to choose an equal number of defense dice. The defender must reroll those dice. "

Great. Thanks for throwing the game into disarray two weeks before Hoth. It's not like we've been practicing for weeks to get ready. /s

Palp didn't need a nerf. It's now a really over-costed C3PO. I'm exaggerating, but it's significantly worse than it was before and even more annoyingly, adds a huge degree of randomness that I really despise.

X7 errata is actually great. It should have read that way from the beginning.

Manaroo will still be good in paratanni I think. She'll be harder to fly, but in general it'll function close to the same. Dengaroo is basically dead as a list.

I'm guessing this was done to open design space. In the long term, the interactions with the old version of Palpatine might have become difficult to manage.

im fine with the palp change if they'd also remove his 2crew tag.

This is probably the best explanation I have heard. Especially if they print more pilots/cards like Wampa. That said, I feel he needed an appropriate cost reduction for what you're getting now, because it really is strictly worse.

They need to make an errata card pack.

Like right now.

I sense alot of butt hurt.

The changes were good. So tired of seeing the same two or three lists at any tournament. It does get boring. Regionals, Round one, play against Defender lists, Round Two, play against Manaroo of some sort list. Round three through 7, rinse and repeat.

These 'big 4' seem like good moves IMHO. I think it levels the field again (for now) until we come up with the next broken combo. Mindlink still seems like a very strong contender but maybe now we might see a few more control builds that will take care of that too?

I'd be 100% on board with the Palp change if they also said that if all the dice you rolled were the desired result without Palp intervention, it wouldn't count as your "once per round". If I roll all crits, don't punish me for that unlikely happenstance.

I have to agree with this. Carrying the FAQ to all games is going to get tedious....

I'm thinking with the /x7 nerfs, that the Palp nerf might be a bit much. There's a reason they made him in the first place: Imperial aces were considered mostly garbage, and the things that are really good against them still haven't been touched. I would have preferred a range limiter to this change. As is he should probably be 4-5 points instead of 8.

On the flip side, the effective removal of Zuckuss makes two-agility ships not hot garbage anymore. I'm really looking forward to x-wing again, even if I have a few minor foibles about the changes.

Edit: Also, holy ****, /x7 can't get their evade if they are at range one of Carnor now.

Awesome, the X7 change is 100% what I predicted it would be :)

I don't know whether Zuckuss or Palp needed that nerf, but sure, back to the drawingboard to make new fun lists!

Generally speaking, does this change Palp that much? That dice roll you absolutely need to make is not really unexpected. You know Soontir really needs to evade, you know Whisper really needs that crit...now you just have to commit.

Obviously this removes Palps flexibility, but does it change his power? I'm thinking if not, then the change is pointless.

if yes, then his points cost needs reducing.

x-7, fine. Blocking is a thing, but other than that...this just reigns in the obviously best title a little and makes tie/d more of a choice.

although tie/x7 is still awesome.

zuckuss, clearly he now works how they intended.

Manaroo...lol. Poor manaroo.

Also, PTL now gives two stress tokens when used....!
