Nerfs that still don't bing xwings, tie fighters, tie advanced, or Awings to the table... maybe they didn't go far enough.
For what it is worth, everything is nerfed.
5 hours ago, AceWing said:That's either disingenuous or misinformed. What finally displaced Palpatine was another card seeing increased play that provided even greater consistency/efficiency, Attani Mindlink.
Additionally, the Lambda is a pretty excellent, cost-efficient ship when they can keep you in front of them. I don't consider having to fly a Lambda a severe drawback to playing Palpatine.
If Lambda was "pretty excellent" we'd see it on the tables doing something else than carrying Palp around. Yet, it's been almost a year since I've seen it Palpless and even then it was in a new player's roster and didn't do very well. Keeping enemies in front of it is the whole problem you see. Against a competent player you'll maybe have 2 turns' worth of shooting with it, one of them probably when it's stressed and tokenless. If you get 3 turns, you've probably outplayed your opponent handily or got really lucky.
I don't think after the nerf Palp Lambda (or any Lambda for that matter) will be worth it's cost. There are much better alternatives you can get for those points now, that weren't that far behind (if at all) anyway and are now simply way better. Palp might still find use on RAC, but we'll have to see about that.
Great thing I have none of the (let's be "polically correct") - updated (not nerfed) cards
Having not played the game since January and before that since June and playing mostly Rebels, I still think the R1 on Manaroo is really had. Could have been within R3 or within R2.
Not sure how to feel about Palpatine - it was so powerful and so expencive, so it could have stayed. Or, just a random non-thought throug: could be if you rolled the symbol you wanted to change, you could use him again, but only once per round the other colour of dice: e.g Guess crit, roll crit now you can use it for evade roll.
Zuckkus - great idea. But since he was usaully with Manaroo and Manaroo already got a nerf - so this is a direct nerf to one list. Might have been get 3 stress, you can max remove 2 per turn or something like that. So he would be usable 1 more time if he is under stress. idk...
Still not a fan of paste-on mechanics of Conditions, but that's a different story...
Apart from x7, everything else seems rather lazy anfto me.
These nerfs seem to me to be something like 'these cards are dominating the meta. Let's smash them and see if, when the dust settles, people are happier' and not 'let's rebalance these cards with the goal of still keeping them as meaningful options'
4 hours ago, jspoto said:This is not software -- is FFG ever going to publicly address this? Are they going to abandon the "never without models" expansion policy, and issue faction-based card update packs, or something similar?
They could technically speaking release the "Jawa's space garage" ship, available to all factions, allowing you to fix your allie's hull during the game?
And since it "fixing spaceship in space" expansion, it could also include copies of all the errated cards. Thematically t would make perfect sense - surely Jawa's are scum but since they work for everyone, it could be boshek-style ship available to everyone.
The only Tier place for a Lambda was Palpcarrier. New Imp large ship, UPS. And very good ship. Nerf Palp. UPS more atractive to players looking for new combos. I will show you the Dark Side...of MARKETING.
Nothing new under the sun.

Triple U-boats are doing just great in states (Magnificent Mister Marcel twice in a row in the final game of a large regionals); as well as in Europe (my good buddy Raph K. going 7-2 and almost making it to TOP8 in Lothal - 270 people). His biggest issue were tokening up defenders. But he is also flying with 2/3*Intel agents - blocking defenders will be soooooo beneficial now!
Mark my words: mindlinked Uboats are the new big scum thing and they shall rise from the ashes like phoenix!

Because Autothrusters are the last thing that keeps us away from TLT spammed hell.

Actually because the TLT spam lists power reduces so drasticaly with each ship lost, any alpha damage list also shuts them out. We still have Bossk/Dengar for that, TIE bombers never had trouble here, not to mention Mindlink lists that shoot with mostly double mods.
Brilliant!
Voitek, is that triple scout list Attani, aggromech, feedback, intel and apt by any chance?

It would be hilarious if FFG had to nerf that list a third time.

R4 agromech, full attani, no feedback, combination of 1-point crew (2*Intel + 4Lom or boba Fett on proton carrier). 1 jump with 1 set of plasma, 1 jump with plasma+EM, 1 jump with Proton+EM AND this one is likely to carry Boba Fett.
Ah, gotcha. Not very nice...

Fix it with errata we can actually play with at home: just get a red pen and colour in the hard right turns on the Jumpmasters dial!
Jumpmasters are still crazy good value, that they've almost no red moves and the generic has an EPT still makes them ideal for Attani. I'm sure a lot of focus will go on making that work.
I also like just dropping Fenn from Paratanni for a torpedo scout, running in tight formation with Manny & Asajj.

Somehow I find it hard to believe you'd be able to maneuver 3 large ships in a tight formation through asteroids while still gettin shots on the enemy. And all of them on the same enemy to boot. Still, kudos if you can make it work.

Personally, Ive opted to just drop Fenn at this point. He just seems so **** squishy now that I dont really feel confident playing him in a competitive enviornment anymore. Ive switched over to:
88C: Attanni, FCS, Autothrusters, Burnout Slam (42)
Ventress: Attanni, Lattz, Burnout Slam, Burnout Slam (42)
Kaato: Mindlink (16)
It should do alright in theory, as Kaato acts like a mini Manny and neither Asajj or 88C really care about losing the one extra focus from Manny anyways. Asajj is also pretty **** elusive when she is SLAMming, letting me cycle my ships around, ensuring that focus fire is all but impossible.
10 hours ago, Squark said:I think this FAQ suggests that the development team isn't entirely comfortable with huge ships being bought solely for one power card, actually.
Where did it say that? The marketing department sure hasn't minded, though. In fact, they have demonstrated an insistence of it.

Hold on, no big gun on 88C, no engine upgrade on Asajj, no 88D on Asajj?
That my sir, is a really interesting list!

2 Burnout Slams > Engine on Asajj IMO, since it is cheaper and you're somewhat short on points with this build as it is. Youre also far more unpredictable and fast with a SLAM than you are with a boost, letting you arc-dodge more effectively or simply get back into the fight if your opponent flies past Asajj and goes for the rest of the list (a problem I encountered often with Parattanni). 88C's gun isnt that much worse than Fenn's (if at all) because, while Fenn is rolling one more die, he doesnt always have a lock, which 88C will often have via FCS. 88C is also much tankier against anti-ace tech like bombs and such.

Still absolutely no acknowledgement -- not even a hint -- that it's the JM5K that's broken, not the pilots. The Manaroo fix comes down to this thought process: "We see a LOT of Manaroo. What can we change so we don't see very much Manaroo from now on?" Congrats ... that's what you got.
I am not sure I agree. Fixing the JM5K is tougher than that. How would you do it? +3 points on all ships? Dengaroo is still a thing at this point, Manaroo still works with many of her other combo lists and the problem is not solved. I think this is the better way to do it. What would you have done?

I think some of this is future proofing though. He could also be a problem on other ships.

Read the wording on Burnout Slam again...
Add the Slam action to your action bar. After performing a Slam, flip this card over.
This means that the first time you use slam, both cards flip over. You can't use it twice unfortunately.

Hmm, are you sure that is the ruling? That kinda blows if that is the case, but I think the list would still be functional wothout the second one.

You could just put Inertial dampeners for some high level poker play - are you gonna do 14 forwards or full stop?

The golden rule: do what the card tells you, not what the card doesn't tell you.
Both cards tell you to flip it over on that specific trigger. This doesn't require a ruling, it's pretty clear.
