My Painted Miniatures

By nerdpaints, in Imperial Assault Painting and Modification

Here is a thread I wanted to create sharing figures as I go. I know there are other incredible video tutorials out there - especially Sorastro (among others). I thought I'd also help with posting and sharing some additional tutorials as well at https://www.youtube.com/nerdpaints

I finally got around to finishing my Weequay Pirates the other day and thought I'd share. I didn't want them all to be completely the same so I had a bit of fun painting these using different colors and shades for their clothing and skin tones. Here's an image preview below.

Wow! Very nice, especially like the color of the blue shirted elite.

Thanks!

Your content is high quality! It's nice to see these channels popping up and especially nice to see some extra work going into the production. You've got talent for painting and patience for recording and editing. I'm a fan. :)

Thanks!! I really appreciate the feedback! It's definitely a process but a lot of fun at the same time - thanks again for your comments!

You can never have enough tutorials or perspectives when it comes to art :)

Edit: Just watched your Terro video, very well done! I really like how descriptive you are and how you explain every step including just a drop of water here, or while the paint is still a little wet, or just get the ridges here things like that. Very descriptive! I want to try Terro now.

Thanks! I was actually debating on shortening my videos by including less instructions, etc. and mainly focus on shots showing which paints I use so I'm glad to hear it helps! I'm just finishing up editing the Pirates and will be posting that video shortly :) Thanks again for your comments and feedback, I really appreciate it!!!

I just finished painting Darth Vader and thought I'd share. I ended up giving him a volcanic base, based on the Mustafar system. I thought this would help add to his intimidation... well - not that Darth Vader needs any additional help being more intimidating than he already is :)

Wow, I Love that base. Any videos on how you did that? :D Darth Looks amazing, especially the glow on his upper body and helm, perfect amount.

The base game in IA has been tough, I put so much time into making the figures perfect then just slather on some dull grey paint and it really just doesn't seem like I am doing the figure justice.

The custom bases are a good idea, but doing that for every figure becomes a hassle quick. Have you tried any other base ideas for the Imp Officers or ST's?

You ABSOLUTELY NAILED the lighting effect. Absolutely fooled me into thinking there was a light source. This is exceedingly difficult to do and you nailed it.

Great work!

Thanks FrogTrigger!! It's funny you mention it - I was actually thinking of doing a series of videos on custom bases. I like using the original bases when possible while adding either their home world to the base or where they primarily appear in the game. I agree though - after investing quite a bit of time painting the miniatures, it seems like something is missing when just doing like a grey base. With Darth Vader, I'll either post an entire painting tutorial soon or at least one for the base I created for it :) Thanks again for your comments and feedback!

Thanks Macmastermind!! I appreciate your comments!! I definitely spent a little extra time on this one but it was lot of fun for sure! Thanks again!!

My pleasure, as I said the base game is seriously lacking in IA. So many figures go un based, and for some of us I don't have the tools or means to re base with custom bases with the supplies in my city. I'd have to order the bases, buy all the tools (adds up quick) and then still perform the actions. I'd much rather be able to customize the existing base with available resources like Citadel's great range of textures and terrain.

If you could nail down some simple methods for this you would definitely get a lot of attention for it. And of course, gratitude :D

Here is my Repulsor Tank I painted. I ended up adding a bit more color to it - thought it would make it a bit more interesting :) I'll be posting a tutorial soon if anyone is interested.

We want the Vader base tutorial!! Seriously I want to do that exact base :) AND CLAIM IT FOR MY OWN!!! MAKING MILLIONS, MILLIONS!!!! MWUAHHAHAHAH

haha - sorry, I'm posting that one as well. I'll post a short video solely on the Vader base then a full video later on Vader. I know Sorastro also has a great video on Darth Vader but I figured I minus well throw one on as well - I thought I couldn't have Star Wars tutorials also without a Vader on there. :) I'm also still looking at creating some videos specifically on customizing the bases for Imperial Assault figures.

That vader saber I think is the best saber I have ever seen on a mini. Love your vids to! I will be a patron soon.

Awesome - thanks Krzykoopa! I really appreciate your comments and support! I'll try and get the Vader video and base for Vader posted soon. Thanks again for watching and for your support! :)

Amazing work, great detail. Absolutely love the lightsaber effects on Vader.

I am inspired by your Repulsor Tank and I am going to touch up mine as well. I always thought based on the card art that they were to plain looking.

The "look" I go for when painting my miniatures is to have them resemble either their "Black Series" 6 inch figure or the "Vintage Trilogy Collection" figures. I wanted my miniatures to resemble that right out of the package Action Figure feel. So I don't go too crazy with the washes or add too many effects. (For Vader I didn't add the glowing effect of his saber but I was sure to have the lenses of his helmet have that subtle red tint to them as seen in the Original Trilogy and on highly detailed figures.

ahem, we are still waiting for some more videos!

I know - sorry. This month has been crazy with some family events and work... I know... no excuses lol. I've recently posted the Repulsor Tank on my Patreon page and I'll soon make that one available to everyone. I'll finally post Darth Vader's base today on my Patreon page and soon to the public as well followed by a full video on Darth Vader. Thanks for your patience :) One of these days, I'm hoping to be able to focus more full time with these videos after enough support. I'll still post in the meantime because it's something I love doing though.

I know its not shown on here but your Jabba video was outstanding.

You helped me create the Jabba look that I was after. Thanks a ton
