Alchemical Problems IC RPG thread

By April, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Ahh back to civilization, wonder how long we'll be here. Bennar follows Astrid's lead and grabs a water also. Shard, you want anything? Hopefully he doesn't ask for Anything too strong, I'm going to assume that Astrid's choice in water shows that we need to be on top of our game and the time for fun beverages will come later.

(Droidika's enter followed by the lady)

Well the atmosphere went from upscale civilization to military outpost faster than normal. I think this is a new record. Of course, we are excited to give Mr. Zando our full report in person. No need for the theatrics; we are all friends here.

Naw im straight.

He looks at the droids and the exits, calculating how to get out of this if things turns sour.

Time to reckon I guess... he whispers over to Astrid, hopefully your boss-dad-mentor whatever he is doesn't space us. Frell totally forgot to vacuum seal my stealth suit, ah frak.

I understand our employer might be angry with us but there are bigger concerns.

The doors swing open, and both sides of the room are flanked by various antiquities... to the far end there is a large mechanical construct... it looks antiquated... even absurd, by the definitions of technology today..

connected via tubes is a small looking man huddled, sitting in a lopsided pose against one of the pillars.

The woman ushers you in, and the doors softly close

" Mr Zando your Problemsolvers"

there is an uneasy Clunking and clanging from the machine that breaks the silence

@Edgehawk she looks exactly like you, save for a few cosmetic didfernces

Interesting...

Sir. It is an honor to finally make your acquaintance, after benefiting for so long under your patronage. Thank you.

Then the familiar woman's visage finally clicks, in Astrid's mind, jarring her composure. She bears a striking resemblance to me.. more than striking..

If this is to be a reckoning, however, it needs to flow both ways. The stakes are higher than we could have imagined, and the time for secrets between us is past.

There is a raspy yet somewhat metallic tinged voice

" Yes Child... I am sure it is... after all my star employee is expected to follow directives is she not " ( it is not a question it is a demand)

the figure does not move, and ( if you want to make a perception roll) you are unsure where the voice is coming from

you hear liquid pumping into something and several pipes move

(Check difficulty? @April p.s. no need to apologize for your situation we certainly understand and appreciate when you do post!)

I'll let you start, as I suspect you have the most to divulge. Let's begin with the threat of "immediate redundancy," which takes on an entirely new meaning, when delivered by one who shares your own face.

Please tell me you don't actually keep spare mes around, in case I develop an unseemly independence? I mean, I'm flattered, but it seems a bit much.

id say 5 purples ( there are lots of things and corners the sound could be said from coming out from )

" People with Skill....... Or I had perceived they had skill are hard to find... She is the only copy " ...... there's a laugh... it's odd and sounds like somebody laughing through a vacuum cleaner tube

there's a clicking sound as if gigantic clock ticks " More importantly is Why I receive missions half done, Items hardly recovered. But " from a panel descends a certain sith lady....." WHY WAS THIS NOT CAPTURED IMIDATLEY BY YOU " the voice is more mechanical, angrier....

" no matter let's get onto the real issue here " the voice returns to normal " I want this Insanire... I want it alive.... Do this and you get whatever you want... A planet, 10, Credits, Weapons it matters little... but fail me... " the sith is ripped in two, it screams and there is silence

the figure huddles even more... and you think you hear crying...

Yorik had been quiet and observant the entire time they were onboard Mr. Zando's Battle cruiser. He was memorizing their route in case they needed to "tactically withdraw" in a hurry. But, when he met the executive assistant Mr. Zando had chosen to employ he was completely stunned.

Astrid was a clone?!?!?

Astrid. That was her. But there were slight variations. The Astrid that he knew had scars. She had personality, swagger, an edge. She had a sense of humor and a certain cynicism toward the insanities of life that made her wonderfully and uniquely her. This Astrid....

Oh FRELL. His assessment was rudely interrupted and completely derailed by the latest nightmare they'd just been introduced to...

Lady Xirrik? Yorik reached out with the Force to telepathically confirm that this was in fact the Sith that Mr. Zando had locked down and strapped into some kind of torture machine.

Are you ok? He reached out to her mentally...

Ah we are kriff'd... Play it cool Zyi, wait for an opening...

In his mind hes like a caged wampa pacing furiously, however his face is still, cold, an expression he had worn manytimes being tortured by hutt goons.

He looks at Astrid then at the other Astrid then back at Astrid, frell kind of lunacy is this...

The force has left her?... it is very strange.... It was her...

Alas she is no more

with that the huddled figure darts towards Yorik... it sniffs him.. It is blind... and as quick as it had done it retreats... It is dressed in rags, It was male ( you think) and has white eyes

" Mr Yorik.... Interesting... seems you are Special.... Hmmmm " several pipes flex and a few mechanical tendrils move.. you get the feeling it would somehow drain you like it did the sith given the chance

" Either You supply the creature or you take its place..."

I need everybody to roll a force dice except yorik

clunk... clunk...CLUNK... CLUNK... CLUNK

Astrid's throat tightens, as their Sith ally is torn apart, but she makes no move for her lancer. This is not that kind of fight.

you believe it's coming from the figure... unfortunately... it seems like it sniffs you a lot... darting between you and the corner a few times

Oh you were so lucky.... I'm glad he hasn't noticed

You see? This is why you need fixers like us. Keep it together, Astrid.. The bug lady was a valuable asset, assisting in our hunt for Insanire. Of course she would have been yours; but I still had use for her. I understand that.. with the mixed results we've produced in recent missions.. you obviously felt you needed to send a message.

Consider it delivered. Your directives have been made crystal clear, with no room for misinterpretation. And you've provided a grotesque display of the consequences that await failure.

May we consider ourselves duly chastised, and forewarned- and move forward? I think we are all eager to fulfill this task without further mishap or delay.

Who the kriff...? He resists the urge to gawk at Astrid's response to the threat.

I will kill this Zando, or I will destroy the little fiefdom he has built.

His panic turns to a rage first seething then like solid ice.

Would you like to roll a composure test?

" The hutt, Dead!, A Scapegoat needs to be found for all this... The public Despite their Willingness to Buy are idiotic when it comes to the big picture... The Hutt Clans are martialing their forces against me... As you can see They are fools to try!.

But yes we can move on... "

"AND WHO THOUGHT SIDING WITH A MARTIAL WAS A GOOD IDEA???"( a voice out of knowhere seems to say)

" So, You are to Go to korriban and investigate the tomb of the Lost king of the Sith... Find what you can on Insanire.... The Bug as you put it was able to secure you free passage.... "

" this will accompany you... " the thudding stops... " I know you like my Droidikas " this is an exceptionally large one with missile pods and some kind of spinning death disk .

the voice giggles

Bug. The crassness of it causes Astrid to cringe inwardly, as soon as it leaves her lips, but there is no time for shame.

The Marshal.. was a different story. But you're aware of the expression "keep your friends close, your enemies closer?"

Honestly, I wasn't sure he wasn't on your payroll.

Astrid hesitates, knowing it may be unwise to prolong this interview, when escape is in sight.. but cannot help herself: I came here to meet him!

I must confess, I had hoped to actually meet the man behind the name, not his pet. Sure, your nanny-bot here is terrifying, but would you not rather see us gape in awe at you , your own magnificence? Or would you truly have us believe this sniveling crotch-sniffer, scampering about the chamber, is the one offering us planets for our troubles. Show yourself, that we might be the first to observe your powerful countenance before us!

(The voice out of nowhere, and the giggling.. have we heard either before, perhaps even in a different context?)

"If you wish...". There's a large Clunk and two jets of steam ... A turbine begins to spin... and The cog sound quickens... as something emerges from the mist

"weapons on the floor if you please... "

He sets down his "bag of tricks"...

He finaly gives in to his urge and steals a glance at Astrid trying to gauge her reaction.

He isn't one to wait for or default to others, he isn't one to follow a leader just because of a title, but Astrid's even temper, clear headedness and judgment has made her a default leader. He didn't notice till now his willingness to follow her, a brief pause in his anxiety leaves him a bit in wonder, how we went from strangers to this... It hasn't even been that long.
