I'll check. Bennar, come with? Griff will probably maintain that he doesn't need any sobering up.

Passed out. Taking the flask from the Jawa is surprisingly difficult, even in his current semi-conscious state.

Just do it. Griff jumps up, but it's too late- Bennar was able to administer the sobering dose.

Easy there, easy. We need a scent article for the search. Do you have anything of Charlie's on you, or elsewhere on the station?

" oh Its like that huh?... Yes of course my first thing when i see a crazed creature burst out of the floor is ... you know what ill just go pick up some clothing of his for sent tracking... " * Grumbles...making me sober....*

Yorik smiled at Astrid's recommendation and nodded in agreement. He watched the others depart the Golden Hind on their resource gathering expedition and walked back up the hangar ramp to where Nix was sitting. He was exhausted and decided to teach Nix how to meditate as it would help them both recover their mental faculties after such a stressful and strenuous day.

"Alright, Nix. Repeat after me. Na- mas- te."

* Namaste.* He also thought into the rancor's mind as Sar Agorn had projected into his own. Even if the Master was gone, his teachings would still remain so it was best to implement them into the rancor as much as possible.

"Clear your mind and think only of a calm and smooth stone. Now, slowly breathe in... take a deep breath... Now, slowly breathe out...

"Good... Let's do it again... Think of the stone and how big it is. Slowly, breathe in... that's it... Now, breathe out..."

Their mind strengthening studies had begun...

nix seems kinda calm.... " stones ... pointy... home... Yarvin...."

Ah, so you know Zando. Well who else do you think could get a practically unlimited supply of combat stims outside of the rebellion or imperials???

( @April what's the ruling on making a medical check when someone has no wounds, my understadning of RAW is that a character has to have at least one wound in order to receive a medical check, which means I couldn't help Yorik @Cartergame if all he has is strain, which sometimes makes sense when all you need is a good nap and not necessarily anything stiched or bandaged. I'm relatively new to the system so if I'm wrong please let me know.)

(Unless by winded you meant the critical injury winded, which I could try to heal. If that's the case do you know the difficulty? I'm AFB, but will look it up later if that's what you meant.)

@TheGuardian118 they do but lets just hand wave restrictions for thematic story?

(Do I know of a planet called Yarvin? Or is it one of the moons of Yavin that Nix is referring to?)

"Very good, Nix... Is Yavin your home? Would you like to return home to Yavin? I'm sure then that's what we'll do, buddy...

"Now, keep breathing slow and easy... Nice and calm... That's it..."

Funny how Sar Agorn's training and all those PTSD Therapy classes are really coming in handy right now, Yorik chuckled to himself and smiled.

No, Griff, it's not like that . I knew it was a long shot, but thought it was worth asking. The alternative is starting the search from your pod, or whatever you have on this rock. We can do that, too, but it would be easier with you guiding. We're just about ready to move. Spy-D will pull you around on the sled like you're the fragging Bringer of Gifts on Life Day , need be.

Reaching down to help him up, the hunter shakes her off and manages to stand on his own, still grumbling.

Description Strain Recovery (Cool)
Results 3eA : 1 success, 2 advantage [3eA=-, S/A, A]

(Assuming it's okay, Astrid recovers from "1" Strain, following the previous combat encounters).

Strain recovery : 2eA 2 successes, 2 advantage

recovered 2 strain?

Aye floats over to Griff and "sniffs around him until a blinking light turns solid.

Nevermind I think you got enough of a distinctive species scent that Aye should be able to track him down...

Yorik's Meditation Attempt to Recover Strain using his Cool:

3eA : 1 success, 4 advantage [3eA=S/A, A/A, A]
a-s-a.png a-a-a.png a-a.png

1 Recovered. More importantly than recovering, the time that Yorik spent meditating with Nix helped him to focus his own awareness and to truly help keep the rancor calm and get him settled into his new "safe place" with his new "friends"... (Using all 4 Advantage for this purpose)

He doesn't know... do you have astronavigation?

" i meant about making me sober.... I swear if anything even looks at me sideways... "

you all recover all strain as your having a decent rest.

I DON'T have Astronavigation... But, I'll give it a search anyway and ask the others as well. This would be a very lucky break for us...

Over the Intercoms, Yorik says, "Hey guys, Anybody know anything about a planet called Yarvin? Yavin, maybe? I think that may be where Nix is from and I'm hoping we can drop him off back on his homeworld..."

" heh... maybe old longlegs there... might save me from Psychotic Nightsisters after all.. " says Griff " yeah i know... They want that rancor.... "

nix's reaction to this is a whine of fear

Astrid stops looking at him sideways, and turns to Zyi.

Astronav is not my strong suit, but if it's on the holo, I'll find it...

Starting a new search on her datapad, she cross-references Rancors and Yarvin, seeking information on Nix's homeworld. Hmm.. Heard of Yavin.. I'll add that, too, if I can't come up with anything.

Description Outer Rim/Xeno check for Yarvin/Rancors
Results

a-a.png a-s.png a--.png p-a-a.png b-s-a.png b-s.png d-f-f.png d-f-th.png

...unless I don't find it...? Astrid shakes the datapad unconvincingly, frowning. Tacitly implied equipment malfunction is a time-honored tradition...

Found some stuff on Yavin, but nothing specific about Rancors occurring there, and nothing at all about Yarvin ...

I have a very rudimentary understanding of Astrogation, from a related course at University, mostly planetary navigation and surveying.. Zyi. You have a good head for this sort of thing. Together, perhaps we can come up with something? (We both have natural ability, and Astrogation as career skills- but without ranks).

edit: use Advantage for an assisted Astrogation check (or to assist Zyi)? @April

Minor patch job here, you should be good to go now. That should take care of all your wounds. We have no strain so no worries there either.

(Sounds good about the not needing wounds for a medical check to recover strain. Just wanted to check with you before doing that. Thanks for all our strain back also!)

Yavin? Yeah I've heard of it, big red gas giant. Not to nice of a planet to be on. It does have a ton of moons though. Some of the moons are habitable. Anything specific you'd like to know?

Exhausted, Worra stumbles out of his speeder in the Hind 's lower bay. He attaches the speeder to one of the loose charging ports, cycles through the outfit options in his holo-suit to find something more sociable, and then he makes his way to the bridge.

"Shard, have you sent out a distress call?" asks Worra. "The authorities may need to know about the accident here. Perhaps a private channel, as I don't think we want to make our participation known, in case any Imperial ears are listening."

Worra also pulls out a travel pamphlet that he picked up in the mall and slides it across the table. "It says here that Flerbos has the best prices on re-breathers, corrugaters, and atmospheric stabilizers. No mention of rampaging Sith Lords or Death Troopers. I guess they were just hear for the unbeatable prices, right?"

Quote

@April Worra would like to make a knowledge (education) or knowledge (outer rim) check to know about any Imperial blockades or unsafe hyperlanes between here and Yavin, or potentially any other political or administrative rules about the system. Of course, it might be nice to know which moon of Yavin we need to get to, or whether Yavin IV is still habitable.

Worra! Good to see you.

Here, I'll link you in to my search results- maybe you'll see something I missed.

Two boosts come from Edgehawk

Knowledge (Outer Rim) about Yavin : 1eP+1eA+2eB+2eD 2 successes, 1 advantage
p-s-a.png a-s-a.png b-a-a.png b--.png d-th.png d-th-th.png

Worra skims through the mercantile files on his datapad. "The Yavin system, yes, here's the file. Gordian Reach sector, far into the Outer Rim. Yavin Prime had a fairly active trade in Corusca gems, though the industry has since shut down. It seems there was an Imperial embargo on the planet for the better part of six years. I wonder why..."

Worra continued scrolling through bland economic and census data until he go to one post that stuck out. "Hmm... the Trans-Hydian Mining Clan seems to have recently reinvested in the system and has an open employment call. Might be a reasonable way to slip into the system if we don't want to draw too much attention."

"That's a brilliant means of entry, Worra! Great idea! Let's head there after we rig the ship and make all the repairs and modifications we need. "

"Nix, looks like you're going home, buddy! & hopefully, you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your days with no one trying to hurt you or scare you!"

The Yavin System it is, then. I'll send Zando a message with the statue, to the effect that we're following a lead to the Massassi Temples on Yavin 4. "Blahblahblah SithArtifact Blahblah." We need a reasonable excuse, guys, if we're going to go off-piste like this. In fact, we should probably make a stop there, just to backstop our cover story. They're not buying this at all...

(Ooh, subterfuge!)

Yorik nodded in agreement. He'd never heard of those temples but then again he'd never heard of Yavin IV either so it sounded entirely reasonable to him.

"Sure thing, Doc. Whatever you just said sounds Great! I trust whatever ya come up with completely..."

"& Who wants ice cream? Worra, what's your favorite? We're going to need MUCH more between here and Yavin... "

"Let me see if I have any record of a contact with the Mining Clan. I have a few old buddies who have wound up as inspectors in one capacity or another. Let me put out a line and see who bites..." Worra used the Hind's communications to send a message to one of his colleagues, hoping he'd hear back in a few hours.

Trying to find a contact in the Mining Clan : 1eA+2eP+2eD+1eS 1 success, 2 threat
a-s.png p--.png p-s-s.png d-th.png d-f-th.png s-f.png

I know a guy! But the guy is a bumbling fool, and he still will likely hold it over me if I don't find a way to repay him.

Just a few minutes later, a call came in on the ship's holomessenger. A Miralian woman emerged from the messenger, with the typical translucent blue look of a hologram. "Worra Kokru. You're a long way from New Taris. Not into any trouble, I hope? Some diplomatic entanglement, I assume."

"Brenda Iliand, glad you see your face," replied Worra. "Its been a while. Brenda, we are headed to the Gordian Reach, to the Yavin system. I understand the Trans-Hydian Mining Clan has taken an interest in Yavin Prime. Any idea who the Mining Inspector might be in that sector?"

"As a matter of fact I do. Tarly got stationed out there." Worra grimaced at the name. "He's one of the junior inspectors. You remember Tarly Lacem, right Worra?"

"Its sad thing to see the fall of the civil service." Worra replied. "A halfwit responsible for inspections of a dangerous mining operation? Who is that making safer? At least, the contact will be useful, Thank you Brenda, you have been most helpful."

Worra shut off the holo-messenger, and the image of the Miralian blinked out. Tarly Lacem, Worra thought. The galaxy certainly is an odd place. I hope he doesn't recall when I denied his application to the Model Galactic Senate team. He would have certainly cost the team a chance to rank, though it seems silly now.

(There's so much greatness about this post, Worra... BRILLIANT way to write up the success and the double threat) :)

After getting Nix settled and comfortable in his new surroundings, Yorik made sure to retrieve his speederbike from the mall concourse and then moved to join the others in their salvage efforts.

"Shard, is there anything in particular that we need to get asap to expedite repairs for the Golden Hind?"

I hadn't even checked the overall state of the ship, are we headed out or searching for Griff's companion before we head out?

( @April what's the difficulty to repair ship damage?)

If there's a known incompetent conducting safety inspections, perhaps we can pass ourselves off as a team sent to "fix" the situation. Not too far off the mark, right? Sent by some senate subcommittee to investigate the reputedly shoddy working conditions. Worra already has diplomatic cover, and I can represent Zando, or some other investor interest. Our medic is conducting health inspections of the workers, and any native populations; Zyi and the droids are specialists checking the mechanical and electronic aspects of the operation; Yorik and Durrak provide security.

Wait.. This has frak-all to do with our objectives... Can't we just insert the Rancor from atmospheric entry, with a grav-chute or something? Frak-it. I'm game. I just wanna explore Yavin 4 a bit, while we're in-system. Zyi's been making noises about freelancing our team on the side, anyway...

What is our goal here, though? Yorik wants to set the Rancor free in the jungle, which is cruel, 'cause No Ice Cream ! The proximity to the ruins on Y4 is tempting to me... but what exactly are we hoping to accomplish?

It's been a long day. But I need a few more long days...

We need some frakking downtime. But first, I need to help Griff. Zyi, if you're stuck making repairs, can Aye coordinate with Spy-D in the search? Or if you need supplies, we can shop while we hunt?

Edited by Edgehawk

Yorik answered, "As far as I'm concerned, we're heading to Yavin IV to safely drop off Nix asap. Then, it's on to Tython to the Libraries there and to find this "Ancient One" who can train us to properly deal with Insanire and his screaming acolyte, the Miraluka. There should be more artifacts for Mr. Zando and hopefully for us. But, we can either then find the Crystal Sword or we just go after that organic ship and retrieve Sar Agorn, kill the Miraluka, and bring its body back to Mr. Zando. Oh, and we deal with Insanire once and for all too.

"If we need to take care of other priorities for each of us along the way then as long as we're still moving toward our overall goal I don't see a problem with that. What do you guys say?

"Bennar, do you mind joining us in dealing with the lunatic mastermind behind this mall of carnage? We could certainly use your help, sir. After what we experienced on New Taris and now here on Flerbos Station I'm more resolved than ever to end this threat of Insanire the monster. I feel confident that Shard, Dr. Astrid, Durrak, and Worra hold the same belief but you're new to this and I realize that we're asking a great deal of you."

Edited by Cartergame

Yorik's straightforward nature comes through again, for the win. And he makes a valid point. Yavin's been done, and pales in comparison to the opportunity to see Tython, and the libraries there...

I'm still frazzled from the Miraluka encounter. I was clear from the grenade. That Thing picked me up, and threw me like a grenade...

Aye is all yours, and here's my pad, don't break it... Its still hooked up to the cams so maybe it'll help, here's these too...

He hands over his scanner goggles and directs Aye to assist in the hunt for the missing jawa.

Probably should search for survivors just in case. We already got one. Who knows maybe someone else got lucky. Anyways when your done stop by security third button, top right, big and red, it's the distress beacon.
