Alchemical Problems IC RPG thread

By April, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Yorik was trying to process all the information he'd learned about Lord Insanire and what they might actually be facing. He knew that he was very new to the ways of the Force but he'd yet to meet anything that could resist a barrage of blasts to the face. Confidence, Trust, and Courage were critical to a soldier, especially when in the middle of a firefight as the team was currently facing. In fact, they were essential traits to possess when one's natural instincts for either fight or flight chose to fly instead of facing the enemy. That's when Discipline had to be strong and resolute.

But, this wasn't about holding down the fort or fighting to the very end. If they were outmatched and outgunned then the smart play would be to withdraw, gather more intel, and utilize the best weapon or tool for the mission. If that was the Crystal sword they were supposed to find and "the other twin" to finish off this Insane Monster then they would have to fall back, focus on their immediate objective to capture or neutralize the rancor, and avoid getting frelled themselves by Insanire.

"Frell. OK, if we have to fall back and avoid Insanire until we're properly equipped I can appreciate that. But, let's at least gas these other guys and/or blow something up again like our last mission so we can say that put forth a true and proper effort! Doc, do you and your little "ewok" friend have eyes on that rancor yet? Shard, can you see anything on scanners?"

Yorik grinned to himself as he prepared to listen to the jawa curse him out. He liked jawas and loved their language. Especially when they were good and properly riled up. Calling this one an ewok would definitely serve that purpose... lol

"Yep. It's Life's "Little" joys that really do get us through the day, isn't it?"

" Hello... fellows... tis I Lord Crumbleberry.... Seems that the ship is fine.... well save for some damage to some sort of large room ... that thing that attacked.... something feels wrong like it wasn't exactly true... I think we were boarded... and looted.. that monster thing was an illusion.. "

( Astrid probably doesn't want to leave without Zandos Prize considering what he does to those that fail)

The Speaker system Crackles " I have lots of toys... lots of them....Won't you come and play with me..." It's Kull he seems to be baiting you.

( you can use the sword to trap Insanire as they did previously, or you can try to find the 'Twin' hopefully it/she could help you kill him..)

Did he see the size of the weapon he is carrying? It required its own dedicated drone for insertion.

Tis good to hear your voice, sir. Thanks for the update. Sar Agorn's chamber was breached and looted? Saves me the trouble, I guess...

I need to hit Oble's. Now.

Eyes on the prize, folks. Insanire (Sar Agorn, too, for that matter) is playing a long game, here. Our mission is to capture either Kull or that Miraluka abomination.

Astrid squints, trying to recall the precise phrasing at the mission briefing:

Quote

You see a picture of kull on the monitor, as well as a floating creature in black that only has a oval fangled mouth it screams and the camera cuts off

Gilt says " Go there.. same deal, this time we want one of those two alive...or anyone else with them, clean up the mess, and limit civilian casualties.

While your there, find Oble in Obles collections, he has an item that Mr Zando requested...Astrid make sure it's genuine... you have your mission "

You find the details matter, if you want to continue in Zando's employ ( and want to continue breathing) . We're making this harder than we need to...

Frack!! The frelling Rancor wasn't even part of the mission, until we volunteered for it! It's ours now, in any case, submission collar and all...

If you'll excuse me, I need to go shopping. Zyi, have you sliced into the layout yet? Find Oble's for me, please.

Yorik worried about what may have been taken. "Looted, you say? Shard, can you have the Hind's droid investigate the breach and tell us what may have been taken?"

*Sar Agorn, are you still with us?*

Yorik tried to hold it back but the joke had to burst forth in between controlled bursts from Confidence .

"Shopping? Wow. I'd heard nothing comes between a woman and her perfect pair of shoes but now of all times, doc?"

"We need to trap and get the twin to destroy him. To me all other concerns are secondary."

I need those shoes.

I can pick them up without you. Be ready, guys. Griff and I will be leading the Rancor your way.

Yorik laughed at Astrid's willingness to play along and it definitely helped to break the tension of the situation. Maybe the death troopers would soften up the rancor (hah!) or slow it down long enough for them to get a few more shots off as they maneuvered around it. Speaking of maneuvering, it was time for him to get to high ground and get ready.

He clicked the heels of his jet boots to activate them and leaped up to the top of the Orange Bothan shop across the street. This would give him a better angle and better view to see Astrid and Griff's return.

"Shard, do you need help getting to the security command to unleash the gas or can you handle it alone? Doc, as long as you're shopping let me know if they have anything in my size and style in a Desert Camo Beige or Gunmetal Grey color. It really brings out the color in my eyes. "

I'm "scouting" it out now.

You check how Aye is doin. Oh! The layout!

Zye taps on the pad sending what he was able to get from the cameras and the marquee displays. He then looks into Aye's progress towards the security center. (Does Aye find a way to a shaft that leads to security?)

He does, it's about 20 minute crawl.... lots of Rats though .. which Aye has managed to scare off

Sar says nothing... there is something very odd about this... Yoriks helmet display notes there's trace amounts of hallucinogenic gas... not enough to worry about on first glance however.. you've been here quite some time....

(Thus far, I've assumed you only require this of party members with a force rating. Am I correct in this?)

"Oh Frell," Yorik said... He switched on his re-breather and said, "Everyone, you should know about the hallucinogen being pumped into the atmo generators. Also, we may start tripping soon so we need to come up with Codewords for Safety...

"My Code word is Confidence ." Then he grinned and added, "Oh, and Griff, I think there's a Build-a-Bantha nearby that may have some cute costumes for you to wear... You should stop by and check 'em out!"

And then the fun went away...

Tugging her breath mask back into place. Like this needs to get any trippier right now... My safe-w... uh, code-word, is Narglatch . Don't ask.

SPY-D, Report.

It'll be like that time when I got dosed at the "Orange Lady" first time seeing the "Moff Divers". Not by choice, certainly not an ideal situation, as two flamboyant gamorreans dressed in matching stardust and sequin jumpers started a vibroblade fight in the middle of the crowd over a shared lover. Then someone pulled out a flamethrower. Shizz got real... Real quick! It all became a mass of wriggling giant fire breathing cannibal green Dianogas. I freaked the frag out... I digress, yah we are probably frelled. On a positive note, if they gotta use gas, they can't be all too powerful with the creepy magic then.

Aye says it's clear let's beeline it to the security consol!

Zyi initiates a flush of the environmental system (Any difficulty?)

He twists a helmet off the nearest dead trooper and puts it and the chest armour on and activates the oxygen filter.

Meanwhile Aye pops a grate and floats into the security room and relays what the displays show from other cameras.

Mine will be "Obliharab-vurliflurg"

By all means ask... Funny story...

Yorik heeded Shard's advice and beelined for the Security Headquarters jet jumping whenever and wherever he could to be as unpredictable as possible and prevent anyone from sniping him... Especially Griff. Tee hee. Cute little jawa. Yorik liked jawas. He couldn't stop laughing to himself before sharing one of his favorite games- Jawa jokes.

"What did the jawa say to the cute pet hamster?"

"Ooh, teeny!"

"How did the jawa get three wishes?"

"A genie!"

"Shard, you really need to consider hanging out in places a little more upscale, amigo! Those Pudu pits you call a bar tend to be rougher than many of the campaigns I've fought in. Gimme a nice Twilek lounge and some lovelies to spend time and diversion with and I'm in my happy place. Something that plays more harmony than the angry wookie rage you call music!"

"Who was the jawa's favorite magician?"

"Houdini!"

"& DOC! Your SAFE WORD?!?! Wow! Really?"

"What did the jawa wear to the beach?

"Bikini"

"Guys, I need to know why those safe words? I mean, CODE Words? What do they mean to y.... to you?"

"What's a jawa's favorite drink?"

"Martini!"

Yorik laughed again as he realized that the hallucinogen may be impairing his faculties because he couldn't stop giggling about jawa jokes and ordinarily he would be deadly serious in the middle of a mission.

Astrid locates Oble's Collections on her datapad, in the layout Zyi sent, cross-referencing it with their current position. Griff, with me. And please don't murder the Jawa jokester. I don't think he's had the opportunity to build any tolerance to this type of exposure.

To the others: We won't be far-off, but I really do need to do this first.

SPY-D, quit chasing rats with Aye and give me a SitRep, please?

Astrid and Griff head off, following the others for a ways, but then branching off to find the collectibles dealer. Or what's left of him. I just hope I'm not too late to get what I came for.

Everything is coming up Millhouse!

I'll gladly accept the support, if it's on offer. Hopefully this is just a brief detour to pick something up, and we can quickly rejoin the group.

Maybe it was her exposure to the gas, but Astrid has to stifle a giggle. Sure. It will be just that easy.

I'd want her to, of course... but if we're splitting up, Zyi and Yorik might benefit from some additional support, as well.

"Good thinking besides she creeps me out. "

Distress calls were blaring on Worra's dash. He'd taken the opportunity to check in with an old friend at a bureau a few clicks from the mall, assuming his comrades could manage on there own. But it seemed that something had gone terribly wrong. The bureau had been deserted, and his radio transceiver began to pick up reports of various "incidents," including the presence of Imperial forces.

He leaped back into his speeder to find his allies. "You alright in there?" he called across the speeder's coms through the Hind 's private channel. "I'm getting reports of Imperial forces. And the mall looks like a mess."
