Alchemical Problems IC RPG thread

By April, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Yorik had spent his time wondering how a Jedi Knight came to be placed into a mechanical orb. For that matter, how did their new Sith Twi'lek "friend" come to find herself in a metal Hutt shell intentionally?

There were many questions he had for Casandra, Dr. Ishton, and Bennar about his Mandalorian background but all he asked was, "Dr. Ishton? How do you find your new living arrangements in this place?" and "I certainly hope you've found fulfillment away from the Jedi Order."

He was happy that Shard was finally better but much more worried now that the callous and careless regard of these locals toward his friend would end up finishing them all prematurely with thermal detonators.

"Bennar, do you really think that one could obtain Mandalorian armor even if we're not Mandalorian blood? I would certainly be interested."

"Astrid, what do you make of whatever the rituals of combat that our new benefactor, Rico, must undergo? Also, what's plan B if the old Slug does the unthinkable and fails?"

Shard towels off, and dresses. These rags ain't ever been this fresh and so clean! Shizz man...

While Zyi is still in the tank, Astrid scrolls through the tourism index, until she finds a tab titled local history. Selecting it, she searches for any information on Rico, Cassandra, Duels, Mandalorian Citadel/ Warqueen, the Lost.. that should be enough to keep me busy for a while..

"Plan B?!" Astrid is surprised at the admittedly sensible notion.. "I don't know.. Usually just start chucking grenades, right..?"

"You are without question, Doc, the finest grenadier I've ever had the pleasure of knowing..."

Where's Aye?

"Bennar.. I was given these meds, to mitigate exposure to conditions in the undercity.. I told him I'd lived this long, without taking strange drugs offered by Hutts.. Care to check it out, for me? Our team is pretty well outfitted for exposure, but if you think it's a sensible precaution, I'll let you do the dosing and administering."

While the medic is examining the prescription, Astrid accesses the holoterminal in the room, hoping to learn a little more of their hosts.

Sure, let me analyze it while Shard is recuperating in the tank. ( @April what would the difficulty be for a medicine check on this?)

To keep? Probably not for those without the blood right to the armor, unless you are able to perform a great service to the Warqueen. And by great service, that would have to be something quite out of the ordinary. More extraordinary than even saving the Queen's life. Death is not a stranger to Mandalorians so saving someone from death, while highly honored, does not carry the same weight as in other cultures, like the Wookie life debt you may be familiar with for example. Now assuming they have a mission that we could undertake for them, it's not unheard of for them to outfit a team for the mission, normally guns, ammunition, consumables of both the edible and explosive kind. Including armor for non-Mandalorians is rare, but not unheard of, though often the armor is just loaned for the length of the mission. Though, to be fair, the armaments given for the mission are usually proportional to the difficulty. If they offer a mission including armor consider carefully before accepting. Bennar pauses for a second in thought, Am I sharing too much about Mandalorian culture? We've been to ____ and back together, some of our personal stories will naturally come out. I'll have to trust my friends with a little of my history. Perhaps this dagger I was given will be our ticket to a mission.

Edit: (lol didn't know I would trigger the auto-filter, hopefully my ___ will be understood)

( the orb is not mechanical, it just uses a mechanical system to speak, The shell hut was the only thing in the suit, sorry if it was unclear)

The history section is sadly Lacking... But it does say bits about the Prominent Hutts.. how old they are... And What seats they occupy on the council... also There's Bits regarding How They saved The Evoccai from their Own Lazzyness.. How great Hutts are... How Friendly they are... But Nothing On mandos... Or Duels... you might need a library computer

droids are not allowed in the rooms unless they are Unarmed and obviously just service droids... Aye is not... he would be in like a holding area for droids.

The orb laughs " ha Not Unless they wanted to Court you "

While Ricco's suite was quite extensive when it came to what it stocked, it lacked the full analytical capabilities of a proper lab that a real hospital would have. Whether this was on purpose or not to hide the drug's full potential Bennar did not know. He was able to tell that the drug was not deadly, but that was all.

Sorry Astrid, I would need more time and a proper lab to tell exactly what this drug contains. All I know is that it won't kill us, but I can't tell what it's true purpose is.

(Hoping advantages can tell me that the drug is or is not harmful, even if I don't find out what it really is. I can edit if it's supposed to be harmful instead of helpful.)

Check Astrid's medicine : 4eP+3eD 1 failure, 2 advantage

It is a standard middle quality antitoxin type of medicine.. but your not sure if it has any side effects

You could ask the doctor if he has a medical lab?

Edited by April

"A medical lab.. maybe .. but just knowing this is an antitoxin like he said, is probably enough for now.. Thanks!"

Astrid closes the computer window in frustration.

"What I could use is a real holoterminal, instead of this tourist kiosk.."

"Oh.. May I have a look at your knife, or would that violate some.. warrior code, taboo.. thingy? " She looks up at Bennar, expectantly, still curious about his Mandalorian connection. I'm sure we are being monitored, here, however..

Yorik snapped out of his inner thoughts at mention of the knife and said, "Yeah, Bennar... Perhaps, you could enlighten us as to your particular unique heritage? We had no idea that you're Mandalorian! What are the protocols that we might have to know before we interact with either the Hutt's security team or if we head over to this Mando Citadel?"

Of course Astrid, you may analyze it as you wish, though it can't leave my presence. Bennar takes the knife and hilt off his belt and delicately gives it to Astrid. This particular type of knife is as much an ornate artifact as it is a weapon. As to my heritage Yorik, as mentioned before I was born on Coruscant, but shortly after that my family moved away. There was a war on the new planet and my family was killed, as a war orphan I was adopted by a Mandlorian family. I was old enough to remember where I came from, but young enough to assimilate into the new culture. Eventually I grew up and was able to look into my birth family... Ah, you remember my brother? He is also an adopted war orphan so we are not brothers by blood.

Bennar pauses in thought for a moment.

As far as protocols for our upcoming meeting at the Citadel, most importantly be respectful. Should you offend one in the wrong way, a duel to the death would not be out of place, though not all are to the death. I'm sure the Citadel has an area specifically set aside for duels. As far as culture, the main thing to remember is the Resol'nare, or the six tenants. The Resol'nare consists of wearing armor, speaking the Mandalorian language, defending oneself and family, contributing to the welfare of your clan, rallying to the Mand'alor when summoned, and raising one's children in the Mandalorian ways. Different clans place different weights on each tenant, for example, one clan may feel that benefiting the clan may be the highest honor, but another clan may feel that if that impedes protecting your family then family comes first. It's often a balancing act for most clans. By leveraging whatever assistance we can offer against one or more of these tenants, especially whichever one held in the highest honor, the local clan will more than likely offer whatever assistance they can in return.

(Yes I did some reading on Wookipedia.)

Astrid examines the finely wrought blade with her pocket lens, notes the full tang, admires the intricacies worked into the hilt. As a student of Sith studies, she has some familiarity with such archaic weapons, but knows nothing of this ceremonial Mandalorian piece.

"Thank you. It is beautiful." And functional, I suppose, if you found yourself in the unfortunate situation of defending yourself with a knife..

"So.. The Citadel first, then? Or must we split up.. I confess, I would like to go to the Citadel, if time permits."

Yorik spoke up thinking of their safety first in response, "I think it would be best if we stick together for now. We're strangers in a strange land and I think the very reason why we're here shows that it's leaning toward being potentially hostile. Together, we have a better chance of protecting each other in case that group tries to kidnap Shard and claim him as "property" or someone tried to start something with us for some ridiculous reason..."

"If you want to head to the Citadel, then by all means let's all go to the Citadel together... "

Don't be so worried guys... Look the worst that happens is we create a big scene and we are all wanted across the galaxy... Its not the worst thing to happen... Lets go have fun... But first where in the fraken frell is my **** droid!

Shard pulls up Aye's feed to figure out what's going on with his friend.

He's in a very dark garage. Also you note that if you want to take him out, signs are posted with "all droids must be unarmed unless they are the property of the Exchange, Failure to comply with this and restraining bolt obligations will result in the droids destruction"

you can call your transport to take you to the citadel

While Zyi is checking up on his little meteorological companion, Astrid decides to contact Spy-D, as well:

"Pamper yourself here, with an oil bath.. Or, you can come with, but they're going to disable your stunner. Your call."

Once the droids have been seen to, Astrid arranges for the shuttle to pick them up.

( you know if you want a droid adventure spin-off just say....)

the transport arrives... the driver seems to be a Evocaii who avoids all Smalltalk and just does whatever its told, flinching each time

the citadel is obviously a former bank, as the building is strong... as you approach a single guard is outside, a small .. guard barely 5ft tall stands outside...

Zyi shoves his cloaking in his bag, and hides a pistol within the cloak (skullduggery check?) and follows Astrid into the waiting speeder.

Edited by TheShard

Yorik appreciated the security of the building based on former banking structural security.

"Good idea to use a Bank building for their security headquarters. Limited entry points and stronger overall structural integrity. Smart."

iare you trying to hide it past the mandos? or the general security?

(Both... The skulduggery is if somone were to check the bag, the cloaking cloak already renders it invisible to electronic means including droids and scanners)

Bennar takes a moment to appreciate the design of the building. Hmm looks rather secure, though they only have one guard. Either they are overconfident in their security, or have grown lazy in peace. Though perhaps it's just a front, and the second checkpoint has much more security. Probably wouldn't be a bad strategy to keep anyone who wanted to break in guessing as to the full strength of the Citadel.

Approaching the guard, Hail friend. We wish to meet with the War Queen. Presenting the ceremonial knife, I believe this will grant us an audience. Bennar replaces the knife back on his belt besides his pistol and realigns the rifle strap on his back. Is there a place we can check our heavy weapons? I assume small arms are allowed to be kept on one's person, at least for Mandalorians and their party, or is the Citadel in a heighted security state and all firearms must be dropped off with security upon entry? Obviously, safeties on and stun mode is required at all times in the Citadel I would assume.

(Bennar is at home enough in the Citadel to be comfortable leaving his rifle with security , but would prefer to keep his pistol. However, he also understands the security requirements and will also check the pistol if required. Would it be out of place to have that fancy gaffi stick in place of the rifle? Or would the rocket launcher on it be obvious and make it a heavy weapon?)

then you auto-pass, just don't start waving it about, you will need to check if you open your bag though.

The guard looks at the blade and simply nods " come... This One is to show you around before you Speak.. You may keep your weapons.. save the rocket launcher. But we ask you Do not disturb any training..." she looks at Bennar.

you note that there is a lot of hight/muscle mass disparity in the people you walk past ( how observant are you to your guide?)

" you take responsibility for the actions of the outsiders... yes?... They might not understand things and attempt to interact with perceived threats"

at first, you are brought to a plinth... it has shards of a suit of armour " This was the remains of the Clan Founder Varn Klorthan " he sought to augment people via some kind of unholy concoction.... it has left us as you see... "

" Tell Me, What does the code say on this? "

as she says this several others snap and look directly at you. It is a test.
