Griff! Clapping the fellow explorer heartily on the shoulder, she takes her allotment of incendiary rounds. I'll be grabbing one of these, too, for luck! Snagging one of the new grenades, she continues on to the medbay, leaving the Jawa to tinker with his disproportionate weapon.

Doc B! Hmm.. I don't know.. It will probably still just be ' Meeddiiiiicc!!' in the field, right? Anyway.. We're about as prepared as we're going to be, for the threats of which we are aware, and can defend against. There is still an insidious feeling of dread, though- an unnatural terror, that accompanies Insanire's presence, Kull's voice even.. Don't suppose modern medicine has anything to calm such inner fears?

In fact, Bennar seems to have a head for this sort of thing, and starts explaining something about infralimbic prefrontal cortex inhibitors and epinephrine vasoconstrictors.. Astrid hears him out patiently, wondering if her teammates' eyes glaze over when she starts speaking in tongues like this.. Just do it. And don't try to tell me you need to administer it to my posterior. I spaced the last medic who tried that. ( @TheGuardian118 I'll take the Willpower boost, minimal side effects, so hard check, please and thank you)!

Yorik heard something about "vasoconstrictors" and chuckled like a typical 14 year teen while the rest of what was said went completely over his head.

Then, in response to Astrid's comment and in order to lighten the mood after remembering the visions of blood and teeth filled walls, Yorik lowered his pants and armor as he flashed them all his rear while flexing his gluteals,

"You sure, Doc? It's the only way to be sure, ya know... & I'll take Brawn. I'm a good enough shot with Confidence to take out most enemies in a shot or two but if we come across that Miraluka psycho and it reflects our shots again I intend to be able to face it in melee with sabers and cut that thing's head off this time. (Brawn please with average check, and I'll use my 2nd Wind to recover 2 Strain after the 4 pt loss)

Always hoped to glimpse the beauteous twin moons of Dantooine..

Yorik smiled at Astrid and then with a resigned sigh of seriousness while his pants were still down asked, "Doc, I guess we need to begin thinking of the fastest and safest way to make it into the lair of the Leper King and rescue our Objective, Dr. Anderson. Is it possible that you have schematics or a map of that temple by chance?"

Shard turns from his work table at yorik's ***, then at his butt.

Shakes his head, Perhaps we can make a last deep scan in the academic databases together.

(can she assist me?)

Great, Astrid. Spent all your time gawking at the pretty crystals and fussing with your goggles.. And now you have a man with his pants around his ankles telling you how to do your job. Well done, Doctor.

Indeed. If such information is available, we should certainly make the effort to unearth it. Temple of the Leper King, Warren of the Screaming, Eye of the Broken Go.. Wait!? Could it really be that simple..? No. Surely the crystal the old man dug from his flesh is not the much coveted Eye of the Broken God..?

Let's get to it. Help me out here, Zyi, quickly.

(Lore check? Difficulty/Setback? @April )

Korriban is kinda documented by the Sith the republic ignore it. Give me 1red 2 purple, using academics , but shard can use his hacking skill if you like.

Ill need to draw some maps then

You find out something from a rather obscure Blog which claims to have talked to "the leper king"... Of all the Sith only one truly could have been called good and kind. he listened to his people, built hospitals, education, and was generally liked by the populace... however... the ways of the sith are one of betrayal.. and thus he fell as quickly as he rose

you also find he held a rather impressive fortress on a tabletop mountain ... this is possibly the location of his tomb... you read the comments which are rather insulting to the king and poster but one stands out more than the rest.

**** Data Incomplete **** King, Leper... Sentient Bioorganism within dead husk... Has teachings for "force" techniques ... Research needed.

Yorik listened closely and felt somewhat better about the latest entity which had made contact with him telepathically. Once he had an idea of which specific tabletop mountain the data download referred to he programmed coordinates into the Hind and let the ship make the short hop to just outside the possible entrance of the ruined fortress of the Leper King.

Yorik then scanned the area for organics and bio signatures of any kind in order to feel more prepared should Insanire or Imo Kull have any ambushes planned for them. Only when everyone was ready and assembled in the cargo bay did he make final preparations and then reach out mentally to the Leper King...

Trying to hold back a laugh and be semi-professional since this is his first real "Doctor" duty that he has had on this ship, Bennar gets the two shots ready. Well "Dr. A" for you the arm is just fine, but since Yorik is set on where he wants it he can take it there. (Nevermind sitting after this is going to be uncomfortable for at least a day to say the least....) Here we go. He takes the syringe and applies it to Astrid's arm, pushing firmly then it's over. All right, sit there for a moment while I do the same to Yorik..... Bennar losses it and finally starts laughing. Ok Yorik, not sure I'm going to be able to take you seriously anymore, but here we go! Bennar, like any good military doctor would do to someone who is excited for a butt shot, chose a slightly larger needle than is necessary and pushes it with just a little more force. There, all done. You'll feel that one in the morning.

He steps back to Astrid, takes some blood and runs a quick test on it. The vial turns purple. Looks like your body accepted the catalyst. Here's the pill to activate it. Once you're ready to activate the enhancement swallow the pill and the effects should start almost instantaneously. It won't last too long, but you can have repeated shots and pills without side effects. Well that we know of, test cases rarely went over twenty consecutive doses in a week, but you don't seem like the pill popper type so I'm not too worried you'll get that high in a short time. Now to check Yorik. He does the same tests on Yorik, same result. Looks like you're good to go also, here's your pill. Oh and just for the record my combat ready syringes shouldn't hurt as much if we need to use them in the field. Bennar jokingly says after seeing Yorik put on a brave face after having what was obviously a painful experience.

Bennar then goes to apply his own shot, take his own blood, and run the test. Instead of purple like the other two, this vial turns green. I was worried about this. My body isn't accepting the same level of dosage. I'll need to play with the formula or up the dosage if I truly need the effects.... He puts the three vials in the medical cold storage to run some more detailed tests on later, hoping to find out how to make the formula more effective even after repeated long-term use, and hoping no one noticed the difference in the test result.

One last thing, if any of you can't swallow without water make sure to bring something with you out on our next mission. The catalyst will only stay in your system for a couple of days before losing it's effectiveness so make sure you use your pill before then. Again, the effects won't last long once activated, but I carry extra shots and pills in my mission medkit and the doses are safe to have several in a couple day span. Long term use can cause it to loose effectiveness. Obviously, in the heat of battle I won't have time to run any tests so I'll rely on you guys to let me know if the boost takes effect properly. You'll know it after you've experienced it.

" let us end these games... shall we children? ".. Imo kull knows you have come

Guys, I think it's almost time. Does anyone else want a boost shot before we go send this force monster to become one-with-the-force for eternity?

( @Edgehawk and @Cartergame don't forget to take the strain you chose based on your check. At least mine is the only one that failed. lol. @April , not sure what you want to do with that threat from Astrid's check. Hope it's ok that I narrated the process as a shot for a catalyst then the pill to activate. Was trying to figure out a good way to make it smooth for us to do here since we were already in the medbay without truly activating it and wasting time on the effects. I can edit if you would prefer the effects start right away.)

Astrid's boost : 3eP+3eD 5 successes, 1 threat
p-s-s.png p-s-a.png p-s-s.png d-th.png d-th.png d--.png

Yorik's boost : 3eP+2eD 1 success
p-s.png p-a-a.png p--.png d-th.png d-th.png

Bennar's boost : 3eP+3eD 3 failures
p-s-s.png p--.png p-a.png d-f-f.png d-f-f.png d-f-th.png

(Okay.. two options @TheGuardian118 it will work but have a side effect or... the option which will have a long-term effect(ie permanent boost) but have a downside (permanent loss)

you feel the voice is under some strain " Yes? "

"Leper King, we are coming to your temple. We also seek the one called Dr. Anderson who appears to be trapped there by some sort of monster? Are these denizens of your tomb or are they spawn of Insanire and the Sith?"

Shrugging back into her expedition armor, Astrid begins stretching. Go time.

As The Hind approaches the plateau, she looks across the bay to Yorik, who seems to be holding some sort of inner monologue.. or dialogue.. should it be more disconcerting, or less, that he may well be communicating with someone down there.. or something..? Astrid closes her eyes, and reaches down to the surface, seeking , knowing she can find their prey.. but it is beyond her grasp. https://orokos.com/roll/560487#

It's go time, fellas. We are expected, of course, but then we are not known for our subtlety. Our primary mission here is to extract Dr Anderson. And remember: To truly end Kull, we must kill Insanire. I tire of running, so let's see if we can wrap things up, here. Yorik?

"I concur 100%, Doc." Yorik smiled grimly and then looked to Shard, "Did you get your Flamethrower ready just in case?"

Lowering the cargo bay door of the Hind with Confidence cradled just in case he needed to fire quickly, Yorik toggled the diagnostics in his visor Head Up Display and observed the direction of the expected waypoint that they'd set on the map earlier.

"OK, Framily. Let's DO THIS!" He said forcefully and then marched down the ramp and onto Korriban soil.

"I fear, it is Insanire"

as you step onto the surface... the ground itself feels odd, spongey ... as Astrid touches it she notices it physically change the tone... you notice slightly ahead, is a small clearing amongst the brambles ( at least you hope those oozing bushes are brambles ) a figure alone pacing

"Yeah, we do too..." Yorik thought grimly and moved up the path. Bringing Confidence up to his shoulder and into a firing position, he switched the firing position to Stun. Carefully, he moved up to where he could get a clear image in his rifle scope of the figure pacing alone on the path and described what he saw. He also reached out with his senses to be aware of anything and anyone who may have been lurking in ambush...

Durrak as always thinks the worse. He readies his discblade for combat.

Astrid takes the pill as she disembarks, stepping onto the alien surface. Upon closer examination, it changes.. and she has learned to distrust her senses. Tugging her breath mask into place, and flipping down her goggles, she activates the new filter and scans the area.

A figure, pacing, but also.. catching a slight movement, she zooms in on what had at first appeared to be brambles. They remind her of something she'd run across, checking up on the fauna of Korriban..

Keep an eye on those brambles. I can't be certain, from here, but they bear a suspicious resemblance to a dangerous native vermiform.

Seeing Durrak ready his discblade, she takes the sensible precaution of drawing her lancer. Scared of the flora now, are we? Meds might not be working quite as intended..

They do indeed... But something is very wrong with them... they shouldn't weep blood or chitter uncontrollably on closer inspection

" So You have Come? " says the figure

(April, from a safe distance Yorik can still see the creature through his scope. Can you describe it please? Is it a humanoid that we already recognize or is this a new figure that we've never seen before?)

From what you can tell it just looks like a generic humanoid

Astrid approaches for a closer look, careful to maintain some distance from the mutant k'lor'slugs . You're not from the Ministry of Tourism, I take it?

" hardly. No!, I am.. from a separate Department. When you take down kull, you must force him back into his sarcophagus, The 9th, 12th and 18th Regiments will engage Insanires forces while you deal with him. When you are ready to use the flare gun ( he hands out you each a flare pistol, with a single shot ) Ranger team 9 will initiate whatever you require. "

" You will have field commissions of colonel for the duration "

" oh and try not to die "

Yorik was stunned. Was this an illusion? How did this person just happen to know they were going to show up on Korriban at this exact moment in time much less appear here on this tabletop plateau just to have a conversation with them? Was this related to the same undercover agent who so long ago had directed them to save Lord Crumbleberry from being tortured by Mr. Zando? Was this related to the Cold War between the Republic, the Banking Cartels, and the Sith and if so what more did they hold back?

"Pardon my Twillek, but who the frell are you and where the frell did you come from? And do you have anything powerful to take on a World Eater just in case Insanire brings back his monster that ate Tython!"

Yorik was frustrated. If their landing was already this well known and easily tracked then who knew what dangers already lurked and what other traps had been placed for them before they even had a chance to get started?
