Astrid, Griff, and Bennar (anyone else?) make their way through the carnage surrounding the Caf-house. This is it , she mouths to the others.

Griff. Target the organ under its chin, which it utilizes more than its eyes, at close range. If it rouses.

Astrid's seeming nonchalance and calm exterior were belied by a tremor in her voice. Volunteers? as she pulls the submission collar from her satchel. Or do we kill this beast?

Griff turns to you, and his tone is odd.... " i wont Claim Right of vengeance, Your my pal and i know what this means to you, But, If it goes sideways..... "

Friff swings a Bipod, and sets up holo optics, "Call the shot. "

Okay. Good. Good? There has been enough death here today.

I should be able to get close, with it sleeping, but I'm not sure if its sensory organs will be active. If my body electricity triggers them, I'll try to get the collar on anyway, but stun it with all you've got.

Griff... Thanks. Call the shot yourself, if that's what the situation dictates.

(Stealth to approach sleeping Acklay? what difficulty? How about collaring it? And are destiny points a thing? If so, what's the pool?) @April

2 with a red, (one roll for everything)

( destiny points are not really a thing but this is a make or break situation so ill let you have a re roll, sounds fair?)

More than fair. Thanks!

Bennar anxiously watches the approach, rifle at the ready. Don't wake up. Don't wake up!

Astrid cautiously makes her way into the bakeshop, the scents of cinnamon rolls and caf now competing with the stench of the day's carnage. So far, so good. Eeaaassy. Stepping over the corpse of a young man who had been gored in spectacular fashion, she pauses to steady herself. One foot, then the other, one step at a time. Steady, Astrid.

Approaching the Acklay from the side, she notes that its head and neck region are within reach, in its position of repose. Good. I was not looking forward to climbing onto the frakking thing...

Almost there... The animal shifts slightly, and the explorer freezes. An eternity passes, in a few moments... Still asleep. Resuming her perilous mission, she extends the collar toward the resting beast's neck...

Stirring again, the Acklay causes Astrid to trip, but she manages to hold on to the collar. Somehow, the creature continues to slumber...

not so fast...

Bennar cautiously circles the beast to give him a line of sight that does not include Astrid. The Acklay stirs, Bennar freezes, gun drawn and ready to fire.

Afraid to move, but knowing she has to act now , Astrid reaches out with the collar once more...

Before she can get the collar clasped, the creature moves, nearly pinning her to the wall. All three of its eyes are open now, but she manages to clamber onto its back, out of reach of its sharp teeth and powerful claws. Still have the collar. I'll probably still be clutching it when I'm dead...

Holding desperately onto its neck, Astrid clings to the hope that her friends will distract the murderous monster long enough for her to make one final attempt.

So much for subtlety... Hold on..

Realizing the situation might rapidly turn desperate, Worra skimmed the holonet for information on Acklays. Maybe there is some way to calm one, he thought.

Looks like not only did I fail to find helpful information, I found something that is counterproductive. Sorry for what may be about to happen...

Mating calls, prey, not much of use in here, thought Worra. Then he paused. There was an mp3 file labeled "soothing Acklay noises," which he excitedly downloaded and played across his collar amp. For a moment, he smiled smugly beneath his mask. But then, the cacophonous roar of bad counter-disco blasted through the hallways. The Acklay snapped to attention before Worra could flip off his speakers.

Look out! Bennar aims and fires a volley at the beast, hoping that he doesn't hit Astrid. Cut the sounds! They aren't helping!

Some of the shots find their mark. (13 Stun damage before soak @April ) The creature is dazed for a moment at the sudden change of pace from his peaceful nap. (Spending advantage to give boost to whoever goes next)

Astrid! You still with us?

Struggling to hang on to the now fully awake Acklay, as it takes fire, Astrid hears the Medic's voice through her helmet's headset. With a flick of her chin, she enables voice activation: Have you ever heard the expression riding the rancor ? Things just got a lot harder, but I think I can get this thing clasped without falling off. Just have to ease it around slowly...

Grateful for the FrictionGrip coating on her Mountaineering Armor, she begins creeping the collar around the creature's neck, maintaining as much surface contact as possible.

Yorik arrived just in time to see Astrid clinging to the Acklay's neck as the beast woke up and began to rise up. Bennar blasted the beast and Yorik took aim and fired as well with Confidence set to Stun.

(Also, adding in the Advantage from my Bantha's Eye Laser Sight that's another advantage for 2 Advantage total... Which Yorik will use to trigger Autofire...)

so *22* Stun Damage. (That should help?)

Durrak sat in his quarters. Even though he mates could use some help the experience with the acolyte left him questioning things. Fighting the Empire on Zannibar was so much simpler.

Now he is working with a Sith witch and is being tempted by darksiders. "Calm Yourself, trust in the force." He told himself. He then reached out with the force and started to move objects

around in his room. This exercise has always helped him.

the Acklay makes a chattering sound, is startled and several shots hammer into him... He literally wakes up Chitters, then is shot knocking him unconscious.

The collar clamps around him without too much trouble, the beast For now is completely docile.

an Image occurs. You remember tale of an old hermit who became more and more isolated. In the end he became some kind of nightmarish ghost... but shurely that was a story told to stop people wandering off as children to the hills???

Nice work Astrid! And good shot Griff! Looks like we got him. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Jawa was going to be his next meal instead of his last one. With the relative ease that the beast went down, Bennar is truly hopefull that the missing Jawa survived.

(Could we make a perception check or something to get a clue to the Jawa's whereabouts? Either alive or dead? What would the difficulty be?)

Yorik grinned, "Griff? Wasn't he hiding under the kiosk the entire time?" He held Confidence cradled carefully in his arms and stared down at the massive form of the Acklay in front of them and then around the smashed tables of the bakery. Why here? Did the Acklay have a sweet tooth? It was a bug, after all.

Yorik began to chuckle to himself and then laughed out loud until he was nearly doubled over and howling so hard that his ribs hurt. In between breaths, he tried to explain his momentary insanity to the others.

"What a crazy frelling day! First Nix and now this... Wow!"

"I mean, as long as we're gonna have to repair the Golden Hind we should go ahead and repaint to look like an ice cream truck and call it Sweet Surprise . With a Rancor and an Acklay both onboard, we're gonna have to load all the cinnabons and ice cream the ship can possibly hold anyway but... How's this for a disguise? Wherever we go we play the annoying yet addictive music that everyone knows means the ice cream man is in the neighborhood.

"Then, we just lower the hangar bay lift and drop a rancor or an acklay on top of our enemies and yell Surprise !!! Meanwhile, we enjoy the leftover sweets. "

Ah Yorik, my mistake. Still mixing up names in the group. I don't mind stocking up on sweet rations, but I don't know that I would be interested in keeping these two as long term pets. Bennar chuckles. The things we do for a payday, quite the adventure the past couple days have been.

As the Acklay is rendered unconscious, and the collar clicks into place, Astrid slumps. Yorik's infectious laughter is the first thing she hears over the thundering of her own heartbeat, and she can't help but join him in his unbridled mirth.

Regaining her composure, she slides from her perch upon the creature, and rejoins the others.

I didn't catch what you were even laughing at, but thanks- I needed that. That could have... gone a lot worse. I need to have Crumbleberry examine my head... my fight-or-flight response is frakked.

So, yeah. We definitely need to incorporate... I'm thinking Rancor Wranglers , or maybe Acklay Acquisitions ?

Catching sight of a scrap of what is unmistakably the cloth from a Jawa's robe, Astrid sees Griff and Bennar searching for survivors, and checks her adrenaline-fed giddiness. Aye, Spy-D, report.

Edited by Edgehawk

Awaiting updates from the two busy droids, Astrid lowers her hunting goggles and joins the search in earnest. These goggles excel at locating a blood trail, but this place is saturated...

Where is Durrak? Unless Zyi required his assistance with the hyperdrive, I expected him out here with the team, ready to strike from the shadows...

(Boost from goggles/ Setback from elapsed time)

That has to be Charlie's rifle... Gingerly rolling the body over (takes a strain), she is both relieved and distressed that the small form is not a Jawa or child, but rather the remains of a woman missing her legs below the knees... That is Charlie's rifle, though! Griff will want this, though I hope the others are having better luck... I'm still hoping against hope, here, for a positive outcome...

Guys, I have his gun. He has to be close. Picking up the slugthrower, Astrid continues searching the ground for Charlie, or anyone else who may have somehow survived this bloodbath.

At least the postal service hasn't been disrupted... Looking up, Astrid sees Griff reverently collecting what must be all that is left of his companion. May he forgive the sobriety we inflicted upon him. Probably better this way, though. Probably... Seeing Bennar with the Gaffi stick, her throat tightens. Oh... Oh!

Worra, you seem to have a fan. Astrid motions toward the conspicuous note.

"Griff," Yorik said solemnly, "I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Words right now are little consolation to you. But just know that your memories of your friend will live on with you for the rest of your lifetime."

In an even softer voice he said, "I know this doesn't help lessen the guilt you feel right now but you should also know that you didn't fail. Insanire did this. Insanire and that Miraluka. Look at the carnage that took place here and realize just how many people, how many families, that madman tore apart with this vile and evil act."

"I give you my word that we will hunt down this monster and find him. And we will end his threat for once and for all.

"Return to your people so that you may honor your friend and return him to rest in peace. But, then know that if you wish, there will always be a warm welcome for you to rejoin us as we bring that monster to justice."

Thank you Griff. Though I only knew you a short while before this, I know you are a Jawa with passion. I will seek to honor your fallen comrade and avenge him by taking down Insanire and the Miraluka along with the rest of the group. After your time of mourning is past, perhaps you will join us as well. Bennar slings his rifle across his back and gratefully accepts the masterfully crafted weapon.
