X wing day
I attended my first x wing tournament recently, the Cardiff regional with 132 in attendance and here is a summary of the day for me.

Now I totally didn't fully appreciate the combo here. He started top left i bottom right. My Ryad headed across the bottom and up while the shuttle followed at a distance with qd banked upto centre of board and came across the middle. His ships all came down left side. Combat in first round saw a 6 die homing missile, a 4 die homing missile and a tlt shoot Ryad, lone wolf, focus, evade and palp were all needed and she survived with 1 hull, she did take some shields from Miranda as well as the one Miranda sacrificed. Next round Miranda finished Ryad with the auto blaster turret but qd did rage and baffle to leave Miranda with 2 hull. Following round qd lined up perfect for R1 shots on cracken and jan ors. Rage baffle saw cracken die in activation phase while jan took heavy damage and was killed by the shuttle in combat. Miranda had slammed out of arc. Then there was a chase around until qd had a R3 shot that killed Miranda.

We flew at each other I rage and baffled on backdraft and I think countess finished it in the first exchange. I think qd lost shields. We flew around for a while and after 25mins I ended up with a 100-0 victory. Memory sketchy on details sorry.

Let's just say this match went really badly, I have never seen so many blanks rolled in all my life lol, it got to the point where my opponent was cringing at how bad my rolls were, consistently blank in attack and defence. I managed to get his shuttle down to 2 hull for 15 points but that was it.

A triple k wing list, I had never played or seen this played, I know it is used and seen it on forums but never myself.

He started top right with Sabine pointing across the board and the others pointing at me. Ryad and shuttle bottom right, qd, left. His plan was to draw away Ryad and qd with Sabine while the other 2 killed the shuttle. My plan was for Ryad and qd to go and kill Sabine while the shuttle delayed. Both groups of ships met in the same round, shuttle in bottom right, Sabine top left. My shuttle pulled a 2 full turn to block the k wings which he said he expected but still bumped one of them and didn't drop a bomb with the other. Meanwhile Ryad was slightly out of position due to a slam but I had covered it with qd and ended up doing r1 rage and baffle. From the 2 attacks I ended up taking 4 shields, getting a hit and 2 crits onto the hull, both crits were direct hits and Sabine was dead. This made me feel much happier about the match.
The match went on to almost full time with lots of ducking and weaving but I eventually got my victory. I should say the dice balanced out in this game and every attack I rolled I got hits and crits almost every die.

Backdraft died in the first joust, I can't remember much of is match but I won.

I started in bottom right with shuttle facing left, qd behind it facing up and Ryad in front of shuttle diagonal facing centre of board. Asaj top right facing me and came moving towards me, Fenn came at me diagonally manaroo behind. We met I raged with qd but did not baffle fenn boosted into r1, I had done a 3 full turn with Ryad so fenn had 2 focus but no evade and r1 shots from qd and Ryad. Qd strips a focus, fenn shoots qd uses focus strips 2 shields, qd fires back, gets 2-3 damage through, Ryad finishes it off. Asaj I think took the last of qd shields and 2 points of hull.
Next round Ryad got r1 on manaroo, qd r2 shuttle r3, qd dies. Following round shuttle r2 on manaroo Ryad gets another r1, manaroo misses Ryad and asaj takes some shields from shuttle. The next round manaroo escapes has taken damage and a crit by this point so only 2 hull left I think. Ryad chases manaroo while shuttle takes long road and heads off the escape, a couple round later and manaroo is dead, takes a while to kill asaj and keep shuttle safe in process. Think match went to time and killed asaj in final combat.

So after Swiss I finished 5th out of 132, I was very happy with this, my MoV was 947.

I shot qd forward a round earlier than I should, did rage but no baffle expecting to lose a shield and get the return shot but it didn't happen. I went for his shuttle, it was on 2 hull and I moved in and had r1 shots from qd and Ryad but only did 1 damage between them, his shuttle then had a r1 shot on my shuttle and killed it. I then got out of position and his palp flew to safety, took me a couple round a to kill in in which time the game was going down hill fast. Qd died then Ryad couldn't push damage through and slowly died.
Loss
All in all a really good day, lots of fun, the day flew by. Missed out on dice which is a shame but a great first experience for a tournament.
