Sith alchemy

By TheShard, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

What are limits to it, what are examples of it and how would you rp it in your game?

Sith Alchemy is... weird. I don't remeber where but I saw Darth Vader, with help of an artifact Turn someone into a Rakghoul.

I think as long as it isn't too outlandish Sith alchemy can do a great many things. In TCW series the Night Sisters are shown using it a lot especially Mother Talzin if you want good examples of what it's capable of look there.

There really seem to be no limits to it. In Legends material it seemed to pretty much do whatever the plot required. But it did seem to lean on being a bit .... sciencey soooo I would keep it close to that if I were to use it. I think the next adventure book may give us hints on it and I'm hoping that the Mystic book (Do or Do Not There is no Try) covers it.

1. Don't know.

2. Other than stuff in Legends, no clue, as it's a Legends concept.

3. I probably wouldn't allow players to get into it unless we're at like, thousands of XP "Legendary Character" type of status. Just because it could really do some whacky stuff in Legends & would likely be too strong for characters for quite some time if translated into game mechanics.

That said, here's a ruleset someone came up with about it. It's waaay too powerful in my opinion, doing stuff like giving a creature natural weapon claws that have Breach 2. I wouldn't allow this ruleset but I'm providing it because every GM has to make decisions for their own table & it's cool to see someone at least put in the effort to create a ruleset, even if it is OP.

In comparison, here are the Sith Alchemy rules that are listed on the Complied Resources topic over on the Edge of the Empire forums. Less powerful but still pretty ridiculous IMO.

Sith Alchemy is nothing more than a plot device. Any player that wants a character that practices Sith Alchemy should take specs like Artisan, Cyber Tech, Doctor, Droid Tech off the top of my head and play him as a darksider. it's not terribly complicated.Players will more often deal with the results of Sith Alchemy. Cyborg creations gone amok, Sith swords found in ruins, Sith zombies on some abandoned ship, etc. we certainly don't need an overpowered skill or Force power. We might even see a spec, much like the aggressor and others with conflict talents, in an upcoming book which is aimed more at this subject. Maybe in the mystic or consular book.

The Consular book is coming with a Force power called Imbue... :)
