Righteous Fury

By Crate2, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

When you roll the second WS/BS test, is this an unmodified test or does it get all the bonuses / penalties the original attack had ?

In Dark Heresy it is unmodified. In Rogue Trader it is modified. You can chose, pretty much.

I also have a righteous fury question. If your weapon has the Tearing quality do you roll the second 1d10 twice and take best result if you succeed on the WS/BS check?

I'm not sure on what the rules say but in my Rogue Trader game I do let tearing weapons roll 2 dice and pick the highest as an attempt to get players choosing chain weapons over power weapons. This isn't as much of a problem in Dark Heresy.

If you allow tearing to roll two dice for the extra damage, the chance of it rolling a 10 (and thus triggering again) goes from 10% up to 19%. Do you want to nearly double the chance of that happening ?

The increased chance of procing righteous fury alone is makes it worth while for me. Although technically I would allow both dice to roll up and let the highest get taken in that unlikely event.

Personally, even prior to Rogue Trader, I ruled all modifiers of the initial attack applied to the check for Righteous Fury. Just seemed logical to me. I mean "testing WS or BS as if making another attack," sounds to me like the modifiers of the initial attack should apply. Otherwise, it could have simply said "testing WS or BS" and been done with it.

Of course, I can also see the argument against applying semi- and full-auto mods to the RF test. But you know what, I like to give my players a chance to goo their enemies, even if said enemy is supposed to be a big, bad servant of Khorne.
